This page is for help with Werewolf, a Hondo's game of suspicion, betrayal, and mob mentality.   It's a lot of fun, and if you want in on the next game, feel free to post in the appropriate thread over in Town Square, or drop the admin a line.

Summary:

Werewolf is an online game, with a set number of players, who play roles assigned to them.  The roles - and their duties - are:

Villagers - The majority of players fall under this.  Their purpose (aside from feeding the wolves) is to survive the game, by lynching one of their fellow villagers at the end of each day; hopefully, a wolf.

Werewolf - The bad guys.  Most games have 2 of them; larger ones can have 3.  At the end of each night, they conspire to eat a villager, and will do so every night until they are exterminated.

Seer - A very unique position; this special villager - sometimes multiple villagers, depending on game size - has the powerful ability, once a day, to ask the admin of the game about the position of one other player, and be answered truthfully.  A seer's ability to find a wolf or two, and properly convey this information to the villagers, is pivotal for the town's survival.
*note: Seers have the ability to see the role of anyone they ask, even if it's the other seer.

The game begins when everyone is made aware of their role.  "Days" in the game are spaced out by events.  The game begins on Night 0, as a non-playing character is eaten, getting the wheels of suspicion moving.  Then, Day 1 (the official game) begins.

Day: The villagers react to the loss of one of their own from the previous night, and talk amongst themselves - either on the thread, or in private, via the board chat, AIM, email etc - and decide who they will lynch.
When all the votes (everyone in the game gets a vote, regardless of role) are in, a villager is hung, their role is officially announced, and the voting ballot is revealed.  Night then falls.

Night: The wolves talk to each other in private, decide who they wish to eat, and message the game's admin.  The body drops, and the next day is begun with an announcement about who fell, and their role.  This cycle repeats, until:

Game Over...

1) The wolves are hung, and the villagers win.

2) The wolves are the exact same number as the villagers (i.e., 2 of both), and they are now strong enough to stop hiding & consume the survivors...wolves win.

Official Rules:

1) You receive your role from the game's admin, with a card/image of your position.  Under no circumstances can you show this card to anyone, or the game's forfeit.

2) When a player is killed, they are allowed a final speech, and can continue making observations/hateration/threats etc, but we ask that they begin each post with to indicate that they have fallen - please, no hints from the afterlife!

3) Seers: absolutely no hints after you've been eaten/lynched, play fair! At least, not on the thread, where you can be seen...if a seer falls before passing on their info, the villagers are on their own.
Also, seers can not use any private messages from the admin as evidence of their position either.

4) Tiebreakers in votes are resolved by the admin messaging those who voted wild, and asking between the 2 candidates, which they vote for.  Think about your vote!

5) Your roles are randomly determined.  Scout's honor.

Hints:

-Talk! Discuss who you're voting for, and why.  Look for other players to do the same, especially later in the game.
- There aren't many rules, and there's ways around them, god knows.  Use some strategy!
- Anyone can claim to be anything.  Wolves can easily pretend be seers, for example.  Since no one can show their cards, its up to you to figure out who's trustworthy, based on their words & actions in the game you're playing, not games in the past.
Seers have it tough; villagers don't trust them and often lynch them by accident, and wolves are looking hard for them.  If anyone claims to be the seer, keep an eye on them!
- Remember, after someone's lynched, the votes will be posted - this is very helpful for the villagers to see who's telling the truth, who's voting for whom & such.
- Survival is important, but winning should be more important.  If worse comes to worse, people will at least believe you (or not) after you're dead & your role's been revealed, eh?
- The quiet players will kill you just as quickly as the loud ones, sometimes quicker - suspect everyone until you feel you have something to go on, then do what you can to get votes against those you don't trust...remember, if everyone votes in random directions & remains unfocused, the wolves have an easy win.

Thanks again to Take Me To Your Lizard for the game idea.  And hey, sometimes seers get lucky...sometimes they don't.
