Looks like there is another one incoming, loved the first 2, the third I didn't play much. The fourth I heard blew, but hey, the fifth looks interesting.

From Gamespot:

Konami is developing Suikoden V for the PlayStation 2, according to the latest issue of Shonen Jump magazine. No release date has been set yet, but development seems to be going well, and the game will be playable at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show September 16-18.

Suikoden V takes place in the Falena Queendom, and like previous installments, the player will recruit 108 non-player characters on his or her voyage. The player's objective in Suikoden V will be to collect pieces of the "Star of Destiny," which are scattered throughout the game.

The player takes the role of the Falena Queendom's prince, who leads a peaceful life until he is caught in an incident, which begins his adventure. An illustration in the magazine shows the prince having silver hair and a slim physique, despite being a physical fighter with a three-section staff. The magazine also revealed two other characters: Ashtert Falenas, the ruler of the Falena Queendom, who has silver hair like her son, and Leion, a dark-haired female swordfighter who works as the prince's bodyguard.

You can see a 10 minute trailer on Gamespot. Looks alright, and hey VOICE, but I'm a little annoyed in that it looks like the main character is mute again. GAH why won't that cliche DIE?
Sure as I know anything, I know this - they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten? They'll swing back to the belief that they can make people... better. And I do not hold to that. So no more runnin'...

because "enigmatic" is better than "gay-sounding".

Gonna check out the trailer soon, post pics as you find em....for those that dont know:

Suikoden I was the original PS RPG before FF VII, vasly underrated, though short. The game began the tradition of rebellions, 108 stars of destiny, building your castle via recruiting said 108 people, good music, mediocre graphics, and perhaps more than anything (for me), tragedy.

Suikoden II still stands as one of my favorite RPG's, due to its strong characterization (despite the # of players), and memorable plot. This game's still worth a lot on Ebay because its a classic.

Suikoden III, the first one for PS2, was fun, but for me, never escaped the shadow of II. While each chapter so far has connected via events happening in locales mentioned in the last game (I & II even featured shared characters....you cuold actually find the protagonist from part 1!), III tried a system of 3 different protagonists from each side of a war, uniting by fate, while the player chooses who is the "chosen one".
Again, it was good (and way long), but i actually enjoy the manga more than the game.

Ive yet to play IV. Common compliants are about its short gameplay, method of travel (apparently, a lotta time at sea), and less inspired plot. I wont speak on it till i finally play it.

Regardless, most times, reviews are lukewarm, calling the next installment "more of the same", but for me, that's a high mark, because i love this series' engine. Cant wait to hear more about V.

Gotta get 2 from ya again sometime.

Also, I'm glad to hear that they seem to still be using the same composer, as the music was one of the best parts about the series.

Looking back, Newt wasnt far off. Still opt for 2 but this one came close.

Conflicting news about Suikoden VI has been cropping up; first its supposed to be PSP, then a few places say Wii, and the latest ive read was that its coming to the DS. We can only imagine this year's Tokyo Game Show should address this, but either way, i'm happy another chapter of one of my favorite RPG series is looking to make it to some format or another.
