JunkerSeed
Death grips would definitely qualify as Alternative hip hop. Featuring noise rock vet Zach Hill on drums and production, they're definitely some of the most punk hip hop I can think of. Forgot these guys are on my sig and I've never posted em. <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orlbo9WkZ2E?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orlbo9WkZ2E?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orlbo9WkZ2E?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
Thelogan
re: glitch hop - See, I'm really on the fence if straight up instrumental electronic music with a dash of urban influence can really be considered hip-hop in any form. the Abstract Rude track definitely belongs here, but the Dabyre and the Prefuse 73? I dunno man. It's GOOD, I LIKE it, but is it hip-hop? It seems like it would be more at home in that jazz instrumental thread. All that said, this thread does have the word "alternative" in the title, so it flies as far as I'm concerned. I'm just opening up a discussion on the matter. So yeah, new shit from Sir Dzl, and a pretty big departure from his previous stuff. Wait, did he just diss Chappelle?
sinestetici
Hip hop has more to do with beat structure than vocals over it. At least I think it does.
