King of Snake
The Sept 11th (I hate the jingoistic 9/11, especially cos you crazy americans reverse the date, over here that's Nov 9th) strip was quite good, I like the way you moved away from talking about the event and more about how it made you stronger. The only criticism is it seems a bit like media-inspired jingoism at times. Â PS: Sorry if this seems in bad taste, it's just my penchant for black humour, but the comment about the human spirit...I think if you fly a plane into a person, they'll topple! Silent Bob
Heh, actually I think if you fly a plane into a person, they'll splatter, but close enough.
Reverend Jax
Sigh...care to explain Friday's installment? I don't get it.
Silent Bob
Hey, you don't hafta get 'em all. They can't all be winners.
Reverend Jax
They, there's gotta be some advantages to knowing the author of a strip I read, and I'm assuming it's asking him to explain his joke when I don't get them. Now explain!
Silent Bob
Dunno if I would know how. You would've had to ask me a month ago when I wrote it. I do know that it read better, before, though. It used to be part of last monday's comic, and I think it read better that way. But I had to split them up for length. Reverend Jax
You know a joke is dead when it's own author can't explain it and realizes it's not funny when he tries.
Silent Bob
'S a difference between not being able to explain, and not feeling any desire to. I don't see why anyone would ever ask someone to explain a joke. If it's not funny to you the first time, it certainly won't be funny after it's explained, and then what would the point of the joke be? Reverend Jax
Sometimes it's not that one doesn't think it's funny, it's that one doesn't get a reference or something.
Reverend Jax
And today's strip was pretty funny.
Silent Bob
Ahhh, just wait until this Friday's. I'm particularly proud of it.

Reverend Jax
Can these $1+ pencils write essays and term papers too?
Silent Bob
God, I wish. But, honestly, don't you think over a dollar is a bit much for one pencil? Â And thanks, KOS. Heh...keep readin'!
Reverend Jax
I've seen art store pencils, and over one dollars soons to me like the campus supply store price, not a real price. But if you really want to get serious about pencil skethcing, you do need them harder and softer pencils. I just use no2, and I think I get pretty good results from time to time, but I'm not trying to major in art. I think over $100 is a bit much for a calculator, but if you wanna do the math thing, you need the TI-83+. It sucks, but ya got little choice. Silent Bob
Yeah, over a dollar is the school store price. They mark their prices up about ten percent to make up for all the shoplifting that they insist is going on.
Reverend Jax
Malls do the same thing, sounds legit, but I would be surprised if it was a simple justification for excessive greed.
Silent Bob
Yes, and it's actually a very greedy store. I'll get into that later.
Reverend Jax
You have a typo in panal 9. Otherwise, funny installment today.
Jesi
Uh. Where's this typo? Everything looks just fine to me, and I lettered it. Only typo I see isn't really necessarily a typo, just what might be an unnecessary comma in DJ's text on panel 11. Panel 9 is just fine. Honestly, JMT. Could you BE any more anal? Nevermind, don't answer that. :plain: Â
King of Snake
He means 'On this is ridiculous!' I think. Â Quite good today as well...is anyone else here reading it but lurking?
Jesi
Ohhh, I see's it now. Ok, JMT. You're still anal and nit-picky, but I'll forgive you this trespass, because you're right... sort of. Yes, that actually WAS s'pposed to be "Oh", but the top of the "H" got lobbed off. See, here's the way it works: DJ (silent bob) draws, traces, and colors the individual panels. Then I come in and compile the panels in Photoshop, into one big ol' image. Then, since I'm too effin' lazy to sit there and individually draw all the text boxes and speech bubbles in Photoshop, I copy and paste the comic into MS Word 2k. I form the auto-shaped speech bubbles, fill out the text, and then copy and paste the text back into PS. Once in a blue moon, ::Looks out window::, the computer will have a glitch and in transferring text from one program to the other, it gets skewed. Sometimes the top of an "H" or the bottom of a "P" or a "Y" will just disappear. ::kicks word::. So yeah. Until Photoshop does auto-shaped speech bubbles, I guess I'm stuck with that formula. ??? Â But, hey. It's never going to be without the occasional flaw, no matter how perfect the creation process is. So, I guess as long as Drawing The Line is on the web, you're gonna have something to bitch about ;)
Reverend Jax
You could create empty text bubbles in word and use the text tool in photoshop....
