The NZA
fuck, its getting worse. they've got to have a better project to use art adams on.
Thelogan
Bleh. Looks stupid...and gorgeous. From the looks of these, it's not like it's Art Adams slumming in hack-ville either. He's improved as an artist. They look better than the Longshot mini, that's for sure. Nothing he will ever do will top Gumby Summer Fun Special. I fucking loved those Gumby books. Bob Burden is the shit, Flaming Carrot deserves some love in the Alternative Comix thread at some point. *adds it to his growing list*

Did you read his oh-so-short Mystery Men series as well? The bit with Screwball and the cotton dockers makes me giggle like a bitch every time I think about it. The bit with Screwball and the cotton dockers makes me giggle like a bitch every time I think about it. Yeah man, good stuff all around. I got turned on to Flaming Carrot when they did a crossover with TMNT as a kid, I've loved pretty much everything that Burden has touched ever since. Looks like we have some answers for our Ultimate X speculations, i.e. WHO IS THAT CLAWED FELLOW? Well, in a nutshell, it's Ultimate Daken. A whiney, angst-ridden Newverine Wolvie Jr.. It's Jimmy Hudson, who is told via hologram that Wolverine is his biological father. Sorry NZA. ASC wins the no-prize. That's what you get for having lofty expectations. Jables
Man.... If that single issue wasn't insulting enough, Loeb has the audacity to hock his new Ultimates project at the back. Shouldn't Millar wrap up his peesashit thing before Loeb enters stage left to systematically lower the tone of comics further than the Silver Age DC? The NZA
Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch are teaming up for a new Ultimate Marvel comic First details of 'Ultimate Invasion,' a new Marvel comic from Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch reveal the new comic is set to heavily feature characters like The Maker and Miles Morales. ew.com late here, but this is such a left field choice for hickman's next - he did make the maker though, down for this madness
Jables
Is anybody following Hickman's current Ultimate stuff? It's all pretty different and great. Hell, just the premise of the 6160(?) gets me all charged up. Sidebar- i recently realised i have a weird thing for evil variants of Reed Richards. The Dark Raider was my first exposure to the concept of a multiverse, right on through the council of Reeds to the Maker, who's just magnificent. Might be better than Doom even. The NZA
yeah, i wasn't taken by the maker prior, but it was lesser writers. it's neat that he's built this thing and he's kinda mythic, barely showing up in it, while the generals do the lifting ultimate spidey is fantastic, if for not other reason than it's goddamn refreshing to not see spider-man editorial chase off a lotta talent with old mandates - like, joe q's been gone for ages, but we still can't have MJ around? even dating? i'm saying, there's writers like chip zdarsky that are obvious choices for the book, and i'm prolly reading into things here but it's obvious why he and other talent don't touch ASM at all (but will very much write minis that are outside of those continuity demands). hence why we get stuck with zeb fuckin wells, a writer that makes spencer's fart of a run seem at least endurable (i'm being way too harsh on wells, but he's never been good with the character) so yeah, 100% hickman wanted his own playground, and he got it, and here it is, the best spidey book in years. in a just world, everyone in that editorial office along with akira yoshida-san cebulski would be sent packing oh! i know peach momoko is mostly known for great covers, but her ultimate x-men book has been great, as long as you don't go into it expecting what the title suggests

I especially love the legends at the end of each issue explaining key things. I'll admit initially I was a little mad about the possibility of Storm being in two places, but the story, the art and vibe have won me over. Ultimate Black Panther is doing the heavy-lifting with world-building in 1610, but I haven't been as diligent about checking for new issues as I have with X-men and Spider-man. Ultimates is interesting without really doing anything like UBP or USM. I'll tell you how they did my boy Hank - so the Maker stores all these key artifacts that will 'unlock' their destined powers per 616- Hank gets the pym particles and basically Millar's run of the Ultimates, highlighting his poor mental health and wife-beating. Talk about bloody meta. USM hasn't missed yet. I love the relationship Jonah and Ben have, and a world where Peter gets the luxury of seeing his uncle as an occasional pain in the arse. The family dynamic is so great and punctuated by these super relatable moments, i think. also though, gotta flex* I'll admit the USM #1 is like 5th printing, but the variant I bought day 1.
The NZA
what are those art sketches on left & lower shelves tho 18 hours ago, Jables said: Ultimate Black Panther is doing the heavy-lifting with world-building in 1610, but I haven't been as diligent about checking for new issues as I have with X-men and Spider-man. These are the works of Ms 9 & Mr 5. The bottom one is actually a full comic I'm gonna frame because the person I made, made a comic and that's an amazing thing to behold for me.
