one of these days I'll learn not to be an early adopter... at least there's thing I wanted to play like Toa and starfox so I don't feel to bad, plus the ambassador games will be something. I have to say though, I have a hard time seeing how they can do a new model launch without giving something to people who already bought it when it's such a different beast.

I do not care for the 3D mario games. There. I said it. Ever since Mario 64. Not my cuppa.

Maybe this one will be different.

Speaking for MH, her XL got this weird hardware problem where it wouldn't properly turn on. The light would flash, but it wouldn't boot up.

I haven't seen it, but I tried to walk them through some troubleshooting. Doesn't seem to be a battery issue. Probl'y gonna need a repair (which'll run about $50 unless you or a friend are confident mucking about with it).

Looks cool, but I'll just wait 13 years for the DS port. I don't want a Wii in my house.

me, i adored 64, but im looking forward to returning to both Galaxy titles - but im still more hyped for this one since its said to be a more direct sequel to 64. i keep meaning to do a thread bout that game & OoT as examples of franchises i think actually survived the transition from 2 to 3D, as i know it's pretty subjective.

sorry to hear that @ ray-ray though. me, i wish i had an XL i could fix for $50, those things look awesome. im quietly hoping the 3DS revision next year offers an XL model, i would buy that at a high price.

The fuck you on about? You're talking to a guy who spent like 40+ hours on Viva Pinata. I also bought Narc on launch day, but I had no need for a backup copy.

I can't speak for the 3D Wii games. They might be the bees knees. That 2D one had me totally wet.

My Wii ambivalence comes from experience. CARLO wasn't using his, so he let me borrow it. Me and the lady messed with it for a night, and then it sat, collecting dust, for upwards of 4 months. I eventually had to say "Hey, can you take your Wii home with you please?" to which CARLO replied "Huh? Oh, yeah."

I'm sure it now sits in their house collecting dust.

well, buzz on GAF from people who played it there said it really worked, and looked great, but in a way that didn't show in shots/video. considering how much they seem to have riding on this one & mario kart 7 for the holidays, i'm hoping for some quality here.

i do wish we'd get further from the New Super Mario Bros artstyle though, i was never really fond of that.

okay, so i bit & got the Zelda one (dead sexy!), grabbed Mario Land, Mario Kart 7, Zelda OoT (came with) and Pilotwings which was $5 at best buy. DS playback & 3D seem great so far, battery life isn't super awesome but i have it plugged in a lot. gonna try to use streetpass soon too, thinking about grabbing Pushmo & Metroid 2 tonight.

I should update the OP with me, Logans & gunsmithx (anyone else?), but for now, my friend code is:

added back, hats! might start a Hondo's @ 3DS thread soon for friendship codes if no one else does.

also: how's generations? is it as short as i hear? i was hopeful for that one and shinobi both, but reviews have been mixed and best buy tragically offered neither for $5 during the holidays.

looking again, i shoulve bought nintendogs and steel diver along with pilotwings just for the points, then traded them back on amazon and made a buck or two. next time!

Gens was a bit short, but I loved every minute of it.

Plus I liked it a lot more than the PS3/360 version. 3DS has a better selection of levels (Casino Night, Mushroom Hill, Tropical Resort) and better Bosses too (Big Arm the final boss from Sonic 3, Egg Emperor)

I also picked up Sonic colours for DS as well, great game too.

yeah, that thing's pretty impressive, despite the purse potshots, heh.

for real though, just a heads-up if you were interested in MGS3 3D: wait on reviews. demo hit japanese 3DS last week and its possibly that it's from an earlier build, but shit was supposedly a mess. we're talking single-digit framerates at some point, really didnt seem to do the game justice - literally everyone i talked to/read on GAF who played it lost interest in the title. i already got the HD collection so i wasnt really planning on it either way (unless cheap!) but man i hope they sort this shit before it drops, i absolutely despite that Konami can't seem to get shit right if it's not Kojima's team these days.

...well, shit. kinda want that now, too. and colors is on my DS list at some point, but i first wanted to pick up SMT Strange Journey & give it a proper go, then bum Ghost Trick off of Space, who i recall being a big fan of it.

*edit oh yeah! those of you in the club, get Swap Note! it's a messaging service with drawings. yeah, i expected mostly cocks too (and they did manifest) but some people really put some effort into this shit, apparently you can add sounds to them too. ive already got a few keepers from some folks. also, here's NOA doing some Zelda 25th anniversary ones:

on second thought, let loggins nowhere near this fucking app
