SUPERHEAT!!!

Pat Riley, President and GM of the Heat, should be arrested for Grand Theft! He steals the 25 year old 2-time and current NBA MVP LeBron James. With James, Wade and Bosh the Heat have 3 of the top 10 players in the NBA. All they need is some minimum guys and some role players to surround them. This is going to be fun!

Miami Boy, U.D. stays in Miami.

Haslem to remain with Heat

By Marc Stein

ESPN.com

Archive

Udonis Haslem is staying with the Miami Heat.

The gritty power forward told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Monday that he is spurning more lucrative offers to stay with the only team he has played for in a seven-year career.

Shortly after ESPN.com reported Monday that the Denver Nuggets had joined the Dallas Mavericks in the bidding with a strong offer, Haslem sent an e-mail to the Sun-Sentinel reading: "Turned down full mid level from Dallas and Denver. See u next season."

The Nuggets, after being foiled in their pursuit of Jermaine O'Neal, extended a multiyear offer to Haslem starting at the $5.8 million mid-level exception, just as the Mavericks did earlier. The New Jersey Nets were also interested in Haslem.

Denver had an even greater need than Dallas for Haslem. Two of the Nuggets' key big men, Kenyon Martin and Chris Andersen, recently underwent surgical procedures that will rule them out for the start of the season.

But every team that showed interest in Haslem in recent days did so with pessimism that he could be lured away from Miami, given his strong ties to the area and a close relationship with Wade. The Heat are trying to divide their remaining salary cap space between Haslem and sharpshooter Mike Miller.

Team president Pat Riley has often said that he wants Haslem to be a Heat lifer, such is the regard for the gritty forward's contributions to Miami's title team in 2006. Haslem, 30, earned $7.1 million last season and has averaged 10 points and 8.1 rebounds for his career.

We also got Mike miller(who took less then he could have made), juwan howard(yes that was pat giving the league the finger), and Big Z(who turned down more money in clevlend after being ther for like 14 years) so what are you guys wearing to the parade?

Seriouly most of the guys on this team are taking less money to be here and it's as much as 15 million in some cases(and yes while the big 3 still make 100 million, UD took 12 mil less 32 to 20 million, I don't know about you but I'm pretty sure I'd take the 12 mil, he's already got a ring.) this will be something special.

Heat re-sign their Puerto Rican sensation and FIU alum.

MIAMI, July 21 - The Miami HEAT announced today that they have re-signed guard Carlos Arroyo. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“By re-signing Carlos, we feel we have accomplished another big step in adding to this team,” said HEAT President Pat Riley. “Carlos showed last season that he was one of the most competitive and efficient point guards in the NBA, and we are happy to have him back.”

Arroyo has appeared in 505 career games (148 starts) over eight seasons. During his career, with six NBA teams, he has averaged 6.9 points, 3.2 assists, 1.7 rebounds, and 18.7 minutes, while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 80.5 percent from the foul line. He has scored in double-figures on 160 occasions, and has registered 60 multi-steal games.

During the 2009-10 season, Arroyo appeared in 72 games (35 starts) for the HEAT, averaging 6.1 points, 3.1 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 22.0 minutes, while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 84.4 percent from the foul line. He set the HEAT single-season franchise record for assist-to-turnover ratio (4.17), which ranked second in the NBA last season, and registered a career-high in field goal percentage.

Arroyo originally signed with the HEAT as a free agent on October 12, 2009.

and just in time for the comeback of NBA Jam! :D

Good call!

Other major additions include an updated roster to include all of the major recent team shake-ups. LeBron James, for example, is already rocking his Miami Heat uniform.

Gotta love The Onion:

James, Bosh, Wade Decide Nickname Will Be 'The Three-Headed Shitstorm'

JULY 28, 2010 | ISSUE 46•30

MIAMI—After weeks of debate over their collective nickname, Lebron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade announced yesterday that the newly formed all-star trio would call themselves the Three-Headed Shitstorm. "It was between the Three-Headed Shitstorm, Miami's Mighty Three-Way, Category 3 Hurricane Fuckface, and Super NBA Friends, which was LeBron's idea that nobody liked," Wade said during an interview with ESPN, adding that the group's first choice, the King Cobra Super Shit Snakes of South Beach, was overruled by Heat president Pat Riley. "We eventually settled on the Three-Headed Shitstorm because there are three of us, and when opponents play against us it's like all this shit is going to be coming at them from every direction. It also has something to do with three-headed dragons." At press time, James was still trying to get the nickname changed to either the Justice Basketball League of America or Three Cool Guys.

Uh oh, Benny...

Celtics will host Heat, LeBron on Opening Night

Miami’s new Big Three will be making their regular-season debut against the Celtics’ Big Three at TD Garden.

According to a league sources, the revamped Heat, featuring the daunting trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, will open the NBA season against the Celtics Oct. 26, a clash that will be nationally televised by TNT.

The league will release its opening week and Christmas Day schedules tonight on NBA TV, and it’s expected that the Heat and Celtics will be prevalent in those games.

The Celtics have spent the offseason appearing unconvinced the Heat are the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, despite their impressive additions. Not only did Miami sign two-time MVP James and All-Star Bosh to join perennial All-Star Wade, they added Mike Miller, Eddie House, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and Juwan Howard, and re-signed Udonis Haslem, Joel Anthony, and Carlos Arroyo.

Boston signed former Heat center Jermaine O’Neal and swingman Von Wafer, and re-signed Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Nate Robinson, and Marquis Daniels with hopes of making another title run with a healthier Kevin Garnett.

James played his final game as a Cleveland Cavalier in Boston May 13, with the Celtics winning Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series. James, the most sought-after free agent of this generation, spoke with six teams that cleared salary cap space for his services and finally decided on the Heat during a much-maligned nationally televised special July 8. James has taken his share of criticism for leaving Cleveland after seven seasons but his addition, along with Bosh, adds instant credibility to a Heat franchise that has been sagging since winning the 2006 title.

The Celtics will start the regular season without defensive-minded center Kendrick Perkins, who is recovering from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The club is seeking another long-range shooter as well as a big man to complete its roster.

The complete NBA regular-season schedule will be unveiled on NBA.com Aug. 10.

So naturally, Season Tickets for the Heat are sold out, and th waiting list has 6,000 people on it. So because of this, the Heat has fired their 30-person Season Tickets sales staff. Now, on the one had, I get that you don't want to pay them if they've got nothing to do, but man, they did the job they were asked to do. Find something else for them to do in the organization. This kinda sucks.

Shaquille O’Neal(notes) is close to signing with the Boston Celtics, an NBA source told Yahoo! Sports.

O’Neal, 38, could help fill the Celtics’ void at center. Starter Kendrick Perkins(notes) is expected to be sidelined until January after having surgery on his right knee and Rasheed Wallace(notes) has indicated he’s retiring.

The Celtics have already signed Jermaine O’Neal(notes), who can play either center or power forward. If Shaquille O’Neal is added, the Celtics will have a big – and deep – frontline that also includes Kevin Garnett(notes), Glen Davis(notes) and rookies Luke Harangody(notes) and former second-round pick Semih Erden(notes).

The addition of both O’Neals also gives the Celtics insurance if Perkins and Garnett continue to have problems with their knee injuries.

Shaquille O’Neal averaged 12.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 53 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season. He told reporters in Orlando on Tuesday that he hoped to make a decision on his future in the “next one or two days.”

Shaquille O’Neal hinted at his interest in playing for Boston during an appearance on the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” show on Monday.

“Celtics would be a good program,” he said.

Comcast SportsNet New England first reported the Celtics nearing a deal with Shaquille O’Neal.

I'm already still pretty confident of the Celtics without Shaq... But with him? He'd fill the void Perk is gonna leave this season... maybe even do better. I know Shaq's getting on in years, but that's A BIG BODY to clear the path for Rondo to go to the hoop...

Yeah, that's messed up. Shit there's still plenty to do in the Heat organization.

It does make your team better, but I'm not worried. It's a desperate attempt. With the earlier acquisition of Jermaine, your team is just taking washed-up O'Neals.

Shaq's not washed up, man. Jermaine... maybe. Shaq's not as good as he once was, but he'd be better than no-points-Perk. (Love ya Perk, but this could be our golden opportunity)

It's gonna depend on how the Big Three play, and Rondo of course. But anyways... Looking forward to October 26th.

ABC's Jeff Van Gundy: Miami Heat will break Chicago Bulls' win record

The Heat not only will be great, but historically great. So predicts the co-lead NBA analyst for ABC/ESPN.

``They will break the single-season win record [of 72],'' Jeff Van Gundy said. ``And I think they have a legit shot at the Lakers' 33-game [winning] streak [in 1971-72], as well. And only the Lakers have even a remote shot at beating them in a playoff series. They will never lose two games in a row this year.

``They have put together a much better roster than anybody could ever have expected,'' Van Gundy added. ``There is now no good way to defend them. They are unguardable. They are indefensible. They are just too good and have added so much shooting and are so versatile that they will score at will.

``And with Erik Spoelstra coaching, they will be in the top three defensive teams in the league, as well. The other 29 teams better hope the lockout gets moved up a year.''

Michael Jordan's Bulls set the regular-season victory mark at 72-10 in 1995-96.
