Disney?

Have you not been following the news? Disney bought Marvel for $4B. That means that except for existing contracts (Sony having the rights to Spidey films, Fox having the right to X-films, etc), everything Marvel will be happening through Disney or it's subsidiaries (ABC and all it's channels, Buena Vista, Hollywood Pictures, Miramax, Touchstone, etc). For films, it's likely all continue to say Marvel Entertainment, because it's a good branding move, but there is no Marvel TV channel (yet), so it's got to be ABC (or one of the many ABC channels like ABC Family or ABC Kids) or one of the Disney Channels. They own alot of other channels like Lifetime, ESPN, History Channel, A&E, Biography, but those aren't a good fit.

Anyway, the trailer looked decent. Only thing that really sucked was that theme song.

Adequately prefaced by the fact that I'm not knee-deep in Marvel Lore to the point where I rage at every inconsistency, what I've seen so far has been pretty good.They produced a series of 5-8 minute shorts of each hero individually as part of the lead-in to this week's premiere, and it got me excited for it. The series hasn't even officially started and Bruce was imprisoned in the Cube, Hawkeye was framed for treason, Captain America is responsible for the death of a civilization, and Loki has set a plan in motion to get Thor out of the way so that he might take over Asgard.

I have hope for the series that I didn't have before, but they could still foul it up. It's Disney.

Cosigned. I want to watch these shorts. I just really hope they commission a different theme song than the one in that trailer, that was goddamn awful. Have they done the Iron Man intro short yet? If they have him drinking a bottle of scotch in an alley, I'm sold.

By that sentiment, you are telling me with a straight face that this avengers show is superior to JL and JLU, and it simply is not that good. It isn't terrible by any means, but it comes nowhere close to what dini and timm did.

look, batman animated was fantastic. batman beyond was also great, like outta nowhere. superman was ok.

JL i watched a handful of episodes, and shit was boring. it didnt help that they made a poor choice for green lantern.

i'm told JLU was better and ties up the whole DC animated and blah blah but im not watching multiple seasons of this stuff to get to the episode that bish/gun/DC animated fans splooge over.

Avengers does what ive had a hard time reading/watching JLA forever with - takes a team of powerful guys (though not boring demigods like JLA, granted) and presents them with interesting challenges that they get their asses whupped up every other episode or so, and does so by grabbing lore/characters from every character of the marvel U. seriously, i know you're not a western comics fan, but they're referencing all kinds of awesome Avengers/other marvel events from history, and making the first season exciting where usually that's the slow one. it doesn't hurt that they're more interesting characters, granted, but ive seen that squandered in 90s cartoons of Iron Man, Fantastic Four etc cameos.

did you see Kang's invasion? that's how that's done. he was cooler than in the comics. the only bad part of the show is the intro.

Kang's invasion is where I gave up in disgust. One minute they're getting their asses beat, and the next minute they're not, and this goes back and forth for no damn reason until the good guys are winning fo' realz. The plot points were dumb. Tony Stark exploiting a back door in his tech that's still a problem 10,000 years in the future even though he fixes the problem in the very next episode is stupid.

I liked how these robots are unstoppable regenerating beasts and a huge obstacle in one episode, and in the next they explode when our friend Hunter hits them with an arrow. Threats shouldn't vary depending on whether the heroes should be winning or not, they should exist as they are and be surmounted.

yeah, the heroes coming out on top of a several-episode invasion after getting their asses handed to them is dumb, i bet that never happens in JL/JLU somehow. i was hoping you'd have some criteria past not liking the nu-metal intro, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. i gave reasons for why i dug it/didnt like the DC team stuff, i'd say your turn but you had other cartoons to watch or something.
