...this is literally all we know right now, from the Gamestop conference. hopefully 360/PS3, hopefully online co-op!

lotta big fans of 2017 on here, had to share.

was just talking to fellow hondonian Ario X about this game, he was joking about the awful beach of red ants (newt knows the one...), but on extreme mode, and how he was here firing rockets/grenades that just made the ants fly into the air, land & attack him again. shit's ridiculous!

About Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon

Taking place in the fictional city of New Detroit, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is a completely new game developed by Vicious Cycle that takes on the concept of Earth Defense Force 2017 (Japanese Title “Earth Defense Force 3” developed by SANDLOT). Insect Armageddon continues to follow the rich history of casual fun and addictive gameplay that made the franchise a cult classic. Insect Armageddon also adds a new aspect to the Earth Defense Force series that was born in Japan, with additional elements for all EDF soldiers to experience. The Campaign mode that lets up to three players team up online to battle the insects and aliens across a completely destroyable city. Every EDF soldier is armed with over 150 weapons and four upgradeable armor sets and engages in nonstop arcade action that is the fastest and deadliest in the series. In addition, the game also features a six-player Survival mode that pits a human squad against a nonstop onslaught of the largest enemies the aliens have to offer. New Detroit’s giant bug problem is unavoidable, and mankind’s last hope lies with the Earth Defense Force to defend the world from the insect swarm, even if it means blowing up the entire city as part of the extermination process.

Agree cause I got fed up of taking nothing but friendly fire all the time from your shitty aim.

ugh, such a shame to lose co-op in this title, too. guess we'll get it going on PSN or something, i really dont see splitting the screen and doubling the enemies as that big a chore for a sequel to a game all about that, though.

Games out this Saturday.

Also:

1. Huge swarms (press vids thus far fail utterly to show this)

2. 300+ weapons ranging from incredible to absurd

3. Constant claustrophobic horror from huge swarms.

4. Giant monsters with more HP than God to fight while also fighting the huge swarms.

5. Blow up every single building.

gonna try to tie up your copy of Siren soon, then toss this one on the best buy card. in a world of hardcore aint-got-time-to-bleed FPS's, i wanna support this.

The way you guys talk this franchise up... Is the first one worth checking out at this late stage or should we just adopt the sequel? And is the xp mostly made by co-op?

Posted

first one's great, yeah most of the magic is in local co-op (that one doesnt do online). can be found for cheap if you look about, but do expect b-rated cheese and mindless blowing up of insects, nothing finer.

Posted

You can probably find that thing for 15 bucks or rocks or whatever you use for currency over there. If the second one is half of the first, you'll be running back to buy it anyway. Also... play the Avenged Sevenfold City of Evil CD during play. Don't listen to everybody else. Just do it.
