LOS ANGELES -- Aug. 25, 2015 -- Yakuza 5, one of the most requested titles to be localized in PlayStation's #Buildingthelist campaign, can now be pre-ordered digitally on PlayStation Network in the Americas. The open-world action adventure game published by SEGA puts players in the roles of 5 interconnected protagonists as they explore the seedy underworld of Japan. Originally released in Japan in 2012 but making its Western debut later this year, players in the Americas can now pre-order the game. Full details below.

Gamers who pre-order the game can purchase it at a 15% discount off the $39.99 launch price. As an added pre-order bonus, players will also receive a static Yakuza 5 theme for their PlayStation 3.

Yakuza 5 features more mini-games than previous titles, a modified battle system as well as enhanced customizations and interactions in the signature hostess bars of the franchise. In addition to these features, Yakuza 5 also introduces "Another Drama" which is a series of side stories that focus on each protagonist in-depth and are separate from the main story of the game. Yakuza 5 will launch later this year. For more information about the game, please visit www.yakuza.sega.com

Lesser known about the western release of Yakuza 5 is that it includes all the Japanese DLC, including “Another Drama” which is a series of extensive sub-plots that focus on each protagonist.

Whether you’re training for dance battles, ferrying people around as a taxi driver or even helping out as a temporary ramen cook, there’s a whole world to explore! Head into CLUB SEGA and play some Virtua Fighter 2 with your friends over PSN. Or if you prefer to play something more rhythmic, you can check out Taiko no Tatsujin and drum to the beat of some music.

installing zero as we speak! this business edition thing is so cool, and i got the gamestop poster too

axels - 4 is one of my personal favorite chapters, and i personally think it's a fine jumping-on point, especially with the catch-up videos. one big change in the series at that point was it was the first game to have multiple characters/fighting styles, which i think really added a lot to the formula. i'd say go for it with that one!

In 2005, a legend was born on the PlayStation 2 - the legend of Kazuma Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima, in his video game debut with Yakuza. Now, 11 years after that release, a new generation of players will be able to experience the incomparable action and drama of the Yakuza series with the rebuilt-from-scratch HD remake exclusive to PlayStation 4, Yakuza Kiwami. "Kiwami" means Extreme, and the game takes that concept to heart. It's not an HD-remaster or up-rezzing of PS2-era textures. Yakuza Kiwami was recreated from the ground up exclusively for the PlayStation 4. That means every visual element was optimized for the 1080p/60fps environment, every line of the script was re-recorded by series actors and for the first time in the West, gamers will be able to hear the original Japanese language track. Then there's the game itself! The PS2-era brawling gameplay is refined for the current gen with Kazuma Kiryu fighting his way through the ranks of Yakuza, only to wind up protecting a young girl whose aunt (and who happens to be Kiryu's childhood sweetheart) is missing...along with 10 billion yen.

Features:

Includes limited edition Steelbook.

Newcomers or those whose Yakuza experience started with Yakuza 0 will have familiar, exacting controls, top-notch SEGA localization, and a solid starting point for entering the Yakuza franchise fresh.

Completely new to Kiwami is the "Majima Everywhere" system, where the series' deranged, one-eyed maniac will constantly surprise and challenge Kiryu to combat when he least expects it.

Kiwami is rebuilt from the ground up with all new HD assets, exclusive Japanese voice audio re-recorded by the series cast, and more; optimized for the PlayStation 4 and running in 1080p/60fps.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life's western release date has been announced. The action game is coming to the west on March 20, 2018--just over a year after it originally launched in Japan.

In addition, publisher Sega revealed a special After Hours Premium Edition, which, for some reason, contains a lot of gear related to drinking. Included are two bar glasses, two coasters, two ice stones to chill your drink, and a collectible outer box--plus the game, of course. This special edition will cost US $90 / £80 / AU $130, while the standard version of the game will set you back US $60 / £50 / AU $90. Pre-orders and launch versions of the standard edition will also come with a free hardcover art book, which doubles as a disc holder.
