The NZA Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 rumors of a new comedy special have me so hyped. I know most (including myself) want his show back - god, there'd be so much to clown on right now too - but after his fantastic Actor's studio interviews, ive just really come to respect the guy as an artist too. so glad i got to see him live a few times in college. anyway, new shit! sorry for the low quality, will repost if and when i finds better. and yeah, dude got fucking fit while he was gone. Thelogan Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 We'll eventually move it to the new "African American Interests" sub forum. I love Chappelle very hard. I've heard other comedians bitching because he'll randomly show up unannounced at clubs and do a "quick" set, and then end up doing like 90 minutes of material. Then some poor sonofabitch has to follow him. That's like the Beatles surprising a crowd by randomly performing a couple of albums worth of songs right before your highschool band is on. Quote
The NZA Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 haha...such a gift if you're in that crowd, a nightmare if you're following. speaking of your darkie subforums, we're overdue for a Richard Pryor thread. and i know we've got a Bill Hicks one about, but it might be about his book/docu. Carlin? Quote
Thelogan Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Of course, all of those are in the cards. I was sort of sitting on making too many more until they have a nice place. Quote
IceManML Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 This dood is so funny. Why did he cancel his show!? WHYYYYYYYYYYY!!!, Quote
The NZA Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 Iceman - he kinda touches on why here, or at least more than i heard him say anywhere else. watch the whole thing (there's a few parts) when you have time though, it's what cemented him as not just one of my favorite comedians, but one of my favorite people Quote
Keth Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 I saw an episode of Oprah where he explained alot of it also. Probably the only Oprah episode I can say I wanted to watch. Quote
The NZA Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 for real? link that one if you can find it, man! i think i heard a quote or two from it now that i think about it, was he on about his africa trip? Quote
Keth Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Ha found the whole episode. Thelogan Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Does that Actor's Studio clip have that anecdote about when lampooning racism just becomes actual racism? That's my favorite. Where there's a guy in the audience laughing at the Pixie stereotypes, and he's just laughing the wrong way. Quote
Mr. Hakujin Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 This two part radio interview is almost a year old, but I just came across it today and apparently it's the only one he's done since Oprah. And a year later people are still throwing him off his set by recording/heckling him. Comedian Paul Varghese opened and specifically instructed the audience not to heckle Dave, who just last year made headlines for a refusing to tell jokes at a show in Miami after being heckled and videoed by fans. As reported by Austin 360, the show was first sidetracked when Chappelle noticed an audience member in the front row recording his set. The comedian confiscated the recording device and remarked that fans' entitlement to record his shows was part of the reason he largely stopped performing stand-up. Quote

The NZA Posted April 15, 2016 Author Posted April 15, 2016 Dave Chappelle might have a new special coming soon, 3 shows taped thus far An hour and a half later, he made it to the front of the line, where wristbands were being handed out. Posted signs prompted audience members to turn off their cellphones. At the door of the entrance, all phones were bagged in magnetic cases, to be unlocked only at the end of the show. Chappelle recorded the show. No word yet on whether it will end up on the large or small screen. He’s taped three performances thus far. Needless to say, expectations were high. The venue DJ began a medley of tracks as his introduction. With the crowd already on its feet and cheering, DMX’s “Party Up (Up in Here)” and “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” Nelly’s “Ride With Me” and Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do It” filled the room as Chappelle walked onstage to a thunderous roar. And from the jump, the audience started laughing and kept doing so for the hour or so he was in front of them. “I literally got a headache from laughing too hard,” Voorhees said. “He surpassed my expectations.” Quote
