Mr. Hakujin
I like your theory though. They could also randomly make Trask or somebody a midget, just cuz. Boom. But thanks to a tipster who prefers to remain anonymous, but is extremely reliable, we can tentatively confirm: Dinklage is playing Bolivar Trask, inventor of the mutant hunting robot Sentinels in the movie sequel. Which makes a lot of sense: there’s already been rumors of Sentinels in the movie, which this fits right in with; there are also Sentinels in the dystopian future of the comic book version of Days of Future Past; and most importantly, Dinklage, in this Variety article is called the “main antagonist,” not the villain. C_U_SPACECOWBOY
Bolivar Trask was already in X3. While I'm all for anything that undermines the X3 continuity, if this casting news is true, I don't think you could possibly get further from the original casting.... Thrizzle
Wait, what? He was? Man, I really don't remember that movie... Also, I've discovered that my random throwaway posts are either predictions of the future, or can subtly alter the course of reality. Possibly both. I must use this power for good. alive she cried
Singer talks about his involvement with X-Men: First Class and dismisses the notion that he's picking up the pieces left by Matthew Vaughn. Singer says he's been involved in the X-Men all along. Singer: It would be [weird to direct Days of Future Past] if I didn’t write the story for X-Men: First Class. I wrote the story to that movie and I produced it and I was instrumental in the casting, in design and involved in the post-production, so I was part of that movie. I initiated that movie and originated it so in that way, and worked with Matthew and I was the one who actually hired Matthew so in a way I feel like I’m not completely entering someone else’s franchise. I’m entering one that he executed wonderfully, but one that I was also part of. Singer makes a comparison to the Aliens franchise, where multiple directors have helmed different entries. Singer: It would be different if I was doing a sequel to Star Trek where somebody else cast everybody, somebody else designed it, somebody else created a look and a mood and a story and then I’m just coming in, which can be done. James Cameron did it beautifully with [his sequel to] Alien but it’s just a different thing. I’m returning to my [world]. The only thing that will be a unique and exciting thing for me is I get to finally direct Jennifer Lawrence. I’ve already directed Nicholas Hoult, but Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, who are phenomenal actors, and I get to work with them as a director as opposed to producer. The director continues to tease the multiple timelines and his desire to address a few continuity issues. Singer: Yes, that’s the answer to your question [on is this the X-Men 3 Singer wanted to do and will this film 'fix' things]. And a lot more because this combines the stories and the casts of both X-Men: First Class and my original X-Men films, so I get to do a little bit of that kind of fun stuff, but I also get to do a lot more. It’s a very epic story. It takes place in multiple times and a crazy, crazy cast. Mr. Hakujin
Hmm...not sure how much Singer is blowing himself up here in regards to his involvement w/ First Class' success. I watched the bonus features on the bluray, and Vaughn did come in to the film extremely late in the process, but he and his writing partner, according to him, did extensive re-writes on the script. Vaughn's departure from the film was surprising b/c the vibe I got from the bonus features is he'd love to have another crack at X-Men w/ more prep time for the script and production in general, but Fox was apparently unwilling to make a deal in those regards. Either way, Singer has shown he's capable of handling the X-Men as a director. He may have struck out on Superman Returns, but I hope when it comes to X-Men he still has his mojo. Reverend Jax
I'm starting to think that maybe the Days of Future Past story is less fantastical in 2013 than it was in 1981. In the age of drone assassination of US citizens without any warrant, court order, subpoena, or any form of judicial review based on top secret laws (not top secret operations, but top secret laws), a world where human superweapons are captured and interned doesn't seem as dystopic as it used to. Actually, it feels naively optimistic about the limitations of government overreach in the name of national defense. Visitant
Ok who brought real world politics into a comic book movie discussion. DON'T WE HAVE MODERATORS FOR THIS SORT OF ANARCHY?!
Mr. Hakujin
Not sure why Bindy is giving Jax's post the facepalm. The X-Men have always been arguably the most politically/socially relevant superheroes. Colossus actor to reprise role; more actors cast Blink is a Chink? You know you were thinking it. alive she cried
Bryan Singer's Latest X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Tease Confirms Bishop And Warpath In yet another brief video taken on the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Bryan Singer has offered us a glimpse of the chairs for the cast and the names on them confirm that both Bishop and Warpath will make an appearance in the "inbetweequel". Josh Wilding - 4/24/2013 It's getting hard to keep track of who is playing who in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but at least the characters are easy to remember (although it's safe to assume that Warpath is Boo Boo Stewart and Omar Sy is Bishop). You see, in his latest Twitter tease, director Bryan Singer has revealed that both Bishop and James "Warpath" Proudstar will both appear in the movie. Bishop is a time travelling mutant who travels back to join the X-Men, while Warpath is the son of Thunderbird and a member of Wolverine's X-Force. Are you guys excited to see these two in the movie? Iambaytor
Yeah, either this movie is going to be 12 hours long or its going to be overburdened with cameos.

I'd be all over that shit. He's right though. Bring Rodney Dangerfield out of retirement to play Bastion, or William Stryker and they could retell classic Xmen arcs as 80's shenanigans movies invariably ending in a party at the xmansion. Thne overlap is pretty seamless, especially when you see them all wearing hawiian shirts instead of excessive pouches.
