The NZA
Chief was on about this one, Sen & I have been watching but she's all caught up and im maybe halfway through season 1 so far? pretty interesting, i don't wanna say more till im caught up to avoid having to walk back after potential shark-jumping. Claire Danes, uh, the escort chick from Firefly, and billings from the Shield (you know, the one with the vending machines). anyone else watching this? Jables
Aaaww not Billings I've had a bunch of people jamming this into my periphery but no inclination to watch as yet,
Mr. Hakujin
I watched S1 and loved it. Danes' Emmy was well deserved. I'm only on episode 2 of S2 and it's just as great as S1 thus far. It's probably the most tense hour of television out right now.
The NZA
...okay, the 2 eps prior were kinda falling off the rails, but that season finale...damn
Mr. Hakujin
Agreed. I mean gawdamn. Although that very last scene was anticlimactic. Saul just smiles. Canna surrogate father figure/mentor get a hug up in this piece or what? And Brody on the lamb while Carrie figures out what really happened is a great set-up for them next season. I was convinced he'd be gone next season, but I guess the heart of the show is the dynamic between the two--terrorist and CIA agent. They did a good job convincing me Brody's deserving to live. At first I was rooting for Quinn to sniper him, but Quinn made a good case to Estes as to why he should live. Also, for the love of Allah, please let there be little to none of Brody's family and angsty teenaged daughter. I was so hoping she was in the car when it blew. sinestetici
Yes... After Quiin made his case for not shooting Brody, he solidified himself as my favorite character in the show I hope he at least gets a nod come Emmy nomination time. You folks are right though...the couple of episodes prior to the finale were just lacking in sustenance. The season finale though was just...wow. Super wow. This is one of those things I like to watch whenever I'm having a bad day because it will 100% always put me in a better mood. I dare y'all to watch this and try not to smile
Mr. Hakujin
First time seeing that sketch, but you're right, it does indeed fuel lulz. Dad? Dad? I hit someone with a car.
spiffytee
not much going on here... is it just me or did you not think season 1 was 10x better cause damian is such a great actor and he isn't loosing it like in season 2?
The NZA
nah, you're right - i don't think ive seen anyone online claim otherwise, season 1 was a great deal better. some of the pacing/plothole stuff about halfway through s02 was up there with when the wheels fell off of
alive she cried
So, I've been thinking of starting this soon. Yea or nay? Edited January 16, 2013 by alive she cried
The NZA
i mean, i've enjoyed it, but i'll prolly watch s03 when it comes out before recommending it heavily...again, season 1's worth it, but for me it's extra helpful if you can tell people when to stop certain shows like 24 around season 4 (5 at the latest) Heroes, after season 1 Dexter...about the same. etc okay also the season with lithgow, after that it's over
spiffytee
its a great show and hate how it's compared to 24. season 1 starts off slow and too be honest i was giving up on it while my buddies kept me on it (angel and bermudez - but one hour each week of this is REALLY tough), but by the end everything is flying at you. and it's not like action packed, it's about the characters in a drama/thriller/suspense kind of way. There aren't that many main characters and there's a lot of family and everyday stuff in there too. I would say it becomes more thriller/suspense rather than drama 3/4 in. You will have to hold back a little logic as s1 comes to an end. So to sum it up, you won't like it if you want things to happen right away or will have to hold disbelief. Damien is awesome and so is danes, but i think damien does a better job. S1 gets wrapped up in a nice little package by the end if that's what you like. but season 2 it becomes more out there and characters start doing things that seem stupid or unlikely. but there seems to be a critic consensus 2 was great. The NZA
spiffy...@ dexter okay so i wanna say you & JZA both said it's a step in the right direction, i didnt watch a single ep cause a) the whole "I LOVE HIM" bullshit the season prior with deb was an obvious deus ex to cover for him, and b) the show is past it's expiration date; ill consider watching the last one but nothing before it if you guys really think it's worth it, i'll check out a few eps but i'm not watching a whole season of half-filler while we do dumb shit like dexter's day out hitting stop signs and dealing with his brother's ghost or something, ugh again tho ASC, s02 turned around in its finale, but i don't begrudge people who gave up prior - don't mind me though, i'm just at a point where i recognize how much time is put into shows, and how rare the really great ones (the wire, deadwood, the shield etc) are about not wasting your time, so i'm a lot quicker to drop shit nowadays. i might miss big payoffs that way...and to be fair, there's still shows i think are fantastic that end like absolute shit, like say battlestar galactica. it's why i'm hesitant to tell you to dive headfirst in until i get more time with it. alive she cried
Thanks for the advice, I shall start this after Boardwalk Empire season 3.
Mr. Hakujin
Homeland S1 > Boardwalk Empire S3 Both are great and worth watching, but after the S2 finale of Boardwalk Empire, S3 kind of limps and drags a bit in comparison. The last two episodes are fantastic though.
alive she cried
Wait, wait, wait, the opening episode of Homeland begins with a sex scene involving Firefly's Inara, and NOBODY THOUGHT TO MENTION IT?!! Right, so that aside, I'm three episodes and loving it so far, though I'm struggling to see how they're going to get three seasons out of this. Good show though. Mr. Hakujin
Wait, wait, wait, the opening episode of Homeland begins with a sex scene involving Firefly's Inara, and NOBODY THOUGHT TO MENTION IT?!! It worked better as a surprise though. ;) Right, so that aside, I'm three episodes and loving it so far, though I'm struggling to see how they're going to get three seasons out of this. Good show though. I thought the same thing, but keep w/ it. They managed to keep me hooked from episode to episode for two solid seasons, and S2 takes a really interesting turn and sets up a new dynamic for S3. alive she cried
Just finished Season 2, what a finale. The whole season was great though I thought, yeah it took a few unrealistic turns, but if you forgive that it's a great season. Season 1 was better, but I don't understand the negativity towards season 2. Season 3 should be very interesting.
Mr. Hakujin
Season 1 was better, but I don't understand the negativity towards season 2. If you don't know Nza and Spiffy by now, you will never ever know them. (Ooooh, ooooh) Season 3 should be very interesting. That's an understatement. They've got S3 set up to have some of the best storylines on TV next season. If it's only interesting I'll actually be disappointed. I'm expecting it to be fantastic--epic even. Mr. Hakujin
S3 was good, but S4 is fucking great. If you've been sleeping on this series or this season, get on it. S4 is eight episodes deep and it just got even more intense.
