The NZA
so, i've recently hooked up a ginourmous CRT (trinotron, no less! pics forthcoming) since my baby PVM was great, but too small for co-op gaming, and since Donny's also a fan of shooting games, i'd wanted to make a thread and get into some of the favorites & lesser known. i recently found out the Nyko Cobra gun works on both the PS1 & Saturn, which is awesome for early House of the Dead on the later, and Time Crisis in PSX! ive even read there's a form of the gun with a plug for a foot pedal, if you're really about Time Crisis, haha. I won a cheap Dreamcast gun & need to get a 2nd soon, that library it's pretty much HOTD 2, Confidential Mission and i recall Virtua Cop 2 having a solid port on the Smash Pack disc. while i don't have phasers for the Master System yet (i miss Gangster Town!), i've got 2 for the NES so there's Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, Operation Wolf & a few others, i'm sure! i'd also grabbed a Konami Justified for the Genesis/Sega-CD, mostly for Snatcher but it was bundled with Lethal Enforcers...that one's tricky, cause the pink one that's for player 2 is rarer, i wanna say. totally just remembered that i've a Sega Menacer & SNES Super Scope, but i think the only enjoyable thing ive played with those was T2: The Arcade Game. What else am i missing? ive not played much of the ports of Silent Scope, Time Crisis, Point Blank, or Mad Dog Mcree.
Keth
Not a light gun game per se, but Dead Space: Extraction was a fun as hell rail shooter. And for something even wackier (and definitely not a lightgun game) of course: Area 51 was the shit when I was a kid too
The NZA
oh man, i love the sh it out of Typing of the Dead! i still have to play through Overkill soon, maybe for halloween....still bummed that a local arcade couldn't get enough people together for a competition for that game! and Area 51 feels like one i saw/played in the arcades in the day, so that's a good port then? and yeah, i could totally make a thread for on-rails shooters, i love Sin & Punishment, Panzer Dragoon, Star Fox etc! Visitant
Pretty sure I wasted a couple weeks with a friend trying to 100% this game. Also, one of my favorite lightgun games of all time is this gem: I used to fall asleep to the soundtrack. It's SO much fun, and the whole pseudo-RPG leveling up mechanics with crazy bosses. Man this is one of the most fun games out there for light gun fans. Fun Bindy fact: I was managing an arcade around the time of Gauntlet Legends and Silent Scope - by the time I left the arcade I was able to clear Silent Scope (1) with only one credit. Iambaytor
I've mostly played light gun games in arcade and honestly out of Time Crisis and House of the Dead I've found them to be pretty shitty made. The new ones that give you this big fuck-off machine gun mounted on a pole that you point around as it vibrates. Then there were the various shitty hunting games, the police training simulator ones, the one where you actually sit in a booth and it acts like a ride. They're all varying levels of meh. The best ones I've played beyond the big two: - You had basically a joystick with a trigger and a button on top and it took you through the trilogy in a space fighter, on the ground with a blaster, the speeder bikes, and there were boss battles where you blocked and attacked with a lightsaber. It was always absurdly expensive (generally 4 to 6 tokens) but ye gods it was wonderful. - . Before House of the Dead this was the king of light gun games. The console game Area 51 was actually a loose sequel to this. - Area 51's non-scifi cousin, not as cool but fun. - .

WAIT, DOES HE HAVE THE GOLD GUN WITH THE SUITCASE? ...I will kill for that. kill http://blog.pricecha...case-price.html Just go out and pick one of these up, duh. I have played the CV one.
