Iambaytor Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 While I'm glad to see two cancelled games finally getting made (P.T. and that alternate version of Resident Evil 4 where Leon fights ghosts instead of Spanish The Things) and that footage looks really creepy and great, this is even less Resident Evil than the last 3 games. I don't begrudge them trying new things but I can't help but think that something like the first two games with modern technology could be fucking amazing. Quote
Little Nemo McFly Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 People hate on RE 5 n' 6 for being nothing more than interactive movies - but I recently (a couple o' days ago) finished playing through all of 6's campaigns again. It's still epic-ly awesome - so is 5...they are straight-up impressive / quality games. I can see the disappointment in them being different from the survival horror original, yeah - but you gotta keep it fresh and you can't keep it in a house/mansion for every damn sequel. The whole premise lends itself to being more n' more epic - it kinda makes sense it eventually going global. I liked the evolution of the RE series. I also love that this going back to the 'being trapped in a house/mansion'. We got an HD remake of the original and an upcoming remake of it's sequel. Seriously, they doin' right by me. I love the Resident Evil brand/universe's style - keep 'em comin'! If only Capcom gave poor Mega Man the same attention... Quote
The NZA Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 eh, mega man gets more love/nods than a lotta classic franchises do! and i had some fun with 5 (lot less with 6) but they feel like co-op games...all action and not enough survival/horror, 4 was the perfect marriage of those elements and ive not seen a competent attempt at it since Dead Space 1, personally i get what baytor's saying as well, but if anything interesting is to be done with PT's ashes, im all for it. we're never going back to classic RE (outside of some of Revelations?) in a big budget title, it feels...so i welcome this change. and nemo's right about the REmakes, literally cannot wait for part 2. really though, was watching this on the stream & thought "hey, that maggot filled dish is a rip from RE4!" lo and behold... The NZA Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Resident Evil 7 biohazard Ushers in a New Era of Fear Horror fans all have one thing in common: We live to be terrified. Capcom has heard fans’ masochistic cries for a Resident Evil game far more terrifying than anything that has come before it. Resident Evil 7 biohazard is the harrowing homecoming you’ve been waiting for, and it’s coming to PS4 (with the full gameplay experience also available via the included PlayStation VR Mode), Xbox One, and Windows PC (Steam and Windows 10 Store). Capcom announced Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the next major entry in the famed Resident Evil series, today during Sony’s press conference at E3 2016 in Los Angeles, California. While Resident Evil 7 draws from the series’ roots of atmospheric survival horror, it also delivers a whole new level of terror. In the classic Resident Evil games of yesteryear, players braced for fear in the first-person via the creepy door-opening scenes, and Resident Evil 7 ramps up that tension with an immersive first-person view and a photorealistic graphical style. Capcom is able to achieve a shocking degree of visual fidelity thanks to the new proprietary in-house RE Engine that includes VR oriented tools. Last year’s “KITCHEN” tech demo for PlayStation VR was in fact built on this new engine as well. With the RE Engine plus industry leading audio and visual technologies, you experience every abhorrent detail up close and personal in Resident Evil 7. Playing the game in the PlayStation VR Mode escalates the unsettling feeling of presence to a level that horror fans have never experienced. That’s right, the full gameplay experience is available in the included PlayStation VR Mode from beginning to end. No Resident Evil you’ve ever survived could prepare you for this. Of course, a horror story is only as frightening as its setting, and Resident Evil 7 pays tribute to the franchise’s origins on this front as well. Resident Evil 7 is set after the events of Resident Evil 6, taking place in modern day and revolving around a foreboding, derelict plantation mansion in rural America. Players must explore and survive the horrors within the mysterious, sprawling estate. Courageous PS4 owners can get a taste of this exciting new chapter of the Resident Evil series by downloading the “Resident Evil 7 Teaser: Beginning Hour” demo. This free demo of Resident Evil 7 is available exclusively to all PlayStation Plus subscribers at this time, and offers a sense of the intense and terrifying experience awaiting you. We don’t want to spoil your time playing Beginning Hour by offering too many details, so start your download now and prepare to face your fears. Pre-orders for North America via the PlayStation Store are available starting today and come with the exclusive Resident Evil 7 dynamic PS4 theme. True survivalists who pre-order the Standard or Digital Deluxe version of Resident Evil 7 will receive the Survival Pack, which includes an early unlock to the hardest difficulty mode as well as a special item set when the game releases. Pre-orders for Xbox One and PC will be available soon. The Resident Evil saga started 20 years ago with the launch of the 1996 original, and this exciting new evolution makes now the perfect time to be a fan. Experiencing the exploration and immersive atmosphere in the new, unnervingly intimate first-person view of Resident Evil 7 is guaranteed to be the stuff of nightmares when the game releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 24, 2017. Visitant Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I'm a RE fanboy, I admit it. I wear a fucking property of umbrella corp ring and get a hard on when I hear Weskers voice. That being said - I was burned hard by 6. I coulden't finish it and I had not been able to do that to a RE game since 0. It was going to take a LOT to get me out of the abused spouse category - and this trailer did it. So far its my game of E3. Quote
Little Nemo McFly Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) I'm a RE fanboy, I admit it. I wear a fucking property of umbrella corp ring and get a hard on when I hear Weskers voice. LOL! Oh, man - Wesker. 'Chriiisss...we last met at the...Spencer Estate...' Wesker has been the shit since the first RE...he's such a slick, bad-ass - LOL. Remember the live-action intro videos for the original PS version? Even then, he stood out to me - and then that twist ending. Greatness. Did you like the CG movies? I see 5 n' 6 like I said, more like interactive RE movies. The production values are insanely high - and totally impressive - but I totally see it...not really being RE games. They are more co-op actiony games. The end of Wesker - in a lot o' ways is the end of the series...but, the CG movies are a'ight - I can watch / button-mash more sequels. I'm surprised you didn't finish 0! Damn, that's cold - LOL! I wasn't that impressed, either (definitely hyped, got it Day One on the 'Cube) - but, not even to see the story through? I got sucked into the whole creation of the T-virus...and how the leeches were key. I dug the...whole prequel aspect of it. But - I guess it was kinda run n' gun. Now that I think about it, it's really the world that pulls me in - but I do prefer survival horror, that's for sure. You got a Wii? Have you ever done the Chronicles? The recaps of the series as on-rails shooters? I think they ported and HD it for PS3(?) Edited June 14, 2016 by Little Nemo McFly Quote
Visitant Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I have not done chronicles, maybe i should give it a shot. I did sink more time than I should admit into the outbreak games. Quote
Keth Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 Just played the demo. Really interesting and gives off a Texas Chainsaw/Blair Witch vibe. Of course PT will be the go to comparison, and while it doesn't last as long, it certainly feels like it's up to the task to pick up where it left off. I'm curious to see if combat will come into effect, or if they are going for the Outlast thing. It it pretty darn creepy and atmospheric though. Optimistic, but tempered here. Hard not to be excited though! Quote
Iambaytor Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 There'd better be combat. I mean I don't need to be a fucking commando, but it would be nice to at least be able to throw rocks or something. Quote
Keth Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 There'd better be combat. I mean I don't need to be a fucking commando -Capcom Totally agree though. I don't want to feel utterly powerless. Quote
The NZA Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 i can't imagine they'd ditch combat entirely, they're already shaking things up a lot here and the balls it would take to turn this into Amnesia/Alien Isolation/etc? nahhhh still haven't had a chance to play said demo, but im already hearing it has PT-like elements of stuff people haven't entirely sorted yet for a more extensive ending Quote
Keth Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 (edited) Yeah I just found a hatchet that can be used as a weapon. Combat aint going anywhere thankfully. Edited June 15, 2016 by Axels Quote
The NZA Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 damn...this was short, but cool! still not over losing Silent Hills but the PT influence is so, so very welcome. havne't been excited about an RE in ages, but this one delivers like the demo did for me. i'm reading there's combat, puzzles etc so it should feel legit...still, i didn't find a finger, hatchet, or phone call! help me out, axles *edit aww yissss Quote
The NZA Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 heh...damn you, skip axels, did you see any of the ghosts? i don' think i did, but even GAF is stumped about what to do with the axe & such playing again tonight, i wanna see the other ending! *edit: some more info from an earlier build on what happens to some characters I just wanted to clear up a common misconception I've seen throughout the thread about the characters of this demo. The character we play as in the present is not a character from the VHS. I played The Kitchen VR demo at PAX Prime 2015, and I can confirm that all of those characters are dead. Andre we seen die in the teaser. We also see Pete get stabbed by the ghost girl at the end of the demo, though there is more to it in the Kitchen. After she stabs him, she stabs Clancy (still bound to chair) in the leg. Before she can finish Clancy off though, Pete gets back up and retaliates, tackling the girl. She drags him off down the hallway, and after some silence, we see his head roll down the hall and back into the kitchen. Then, after giving the player (Clancy) a chance to look around in fear, a pair of hands reach in front of his face from behind and snap his neck back, showing the girl's face, before she draws the machete again and stabs him in the face. So yeah, they are all dead. If you check the fridge, there are garbage bags on the top shelf that aren't there during the VHS, which I believe are the dismembered bodies of the camera crew. Anyways, no relevance to the puzzle, but I thought this info might give some deeper perspective. Quote
Keth Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 No ghosts for me. I watched Jim Sterling play it and he pointed it out too, but I still didnt see it. Im still waiting on word on what to do with the damn mannequin finger. There must be other secrets I the VHS portion (which I freaking loved) Ps if the you arent watching the vid for item location spoilers lockpick for the drawer in the kitchen is on the floor behind the microwave while playing as VHS cameraman. He unlocks the drawer giving it a time travelly feel. Finger is in the drawer in the first hallway. Fuse is in secret passage. I found it very first thing after I knew I could pull the chimney thing. [ Quote
The NZA Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 yeah, thanks man! i totally went past the fuse the 1st time somehow...so i've not even seen the attic. answering that phone tonight, with & without the axe! i'm reading up on theories that it's like PT where you gotta use the mic, or some think the PS4 capture etc...also apparently there's a total of 6 mannequins, how much you wanna bet wherever that 7th one is, it's missing a finger i'm reading there may be more info tonight, but capcom swears this thing "can be beaten"... *edit Quote
Keth Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 Saw this happen while I was playing. Looks like a glitch more than anything Quote
The NZA Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 damn. in the video i linked though, the door in the attic is open! inaccessible, but open - and it's lit & detailed, like there may be another way to get at it. i'm starting to wonder if we're supposed to be trying to knock out walls with the axe? might be worth seeing if the VHS portions have any discrepancies in the walls vs when you're back Quote
Keth Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 Some of the boxes are smashable..... I thought maybe there was a secret to maybe stopping the vhs before you get the altered not. And the phone call seems to hold a clue. (The memory HAS to be the vhs). But man, this one looks tricky! I have no clue how one would get the door in the attic open. Oh fuck I gotta watch that whole video, cause that is NOT what happens when I pick up the phone! Quote
The NZA Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 speaking of the phone calls: gonna try to trigger all 3 tonight, one of the devs said something about those messages having a clue to getting out also, i know people think we've found all the items, but there's no way that piano doesn't play a part...this is resident evil Quote
Keth Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 Fuckin hell (Spoiler in our Imgur just fyi) I've yet to see that in my playthrough. Goddamn I'm actually excited for this. I'm so glad they are calling this RE7 and not RE: Family or some bullshit spinoff title. You can still be the good guys Capcom! More secrets here Quote
The NZA Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 fuck me, that's good! yeah, people at GAF are working on a #'s theory, since the thinking is that there's an order of events we're missing...apparently, things have numbers on them (the fuse has a 5, lockpick a 3, etc). i'm also wanting to try this out later tonight myself Quote
