Keth Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Meh. Not like they are gonna make any more good MGS games anymore anyway. There's nothing to tarnish here. I have Phantom Pain downloaded on my PS4 from PS+ months ago, and still haven't played it out of spite. and the backlog of course... Quote
Little Nemo McFly Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I'd take a gander at a MGS flick. Hell yeah, I would. If they're doing a live-action 'Twin Snakes' - whooooooaz! I'm so in. It'd be tough to translate / carry over all that quirky, over-the-top-ness...that makes MGS...over to film. (shrugs) Could be a homerun...'superhero' movies can be straight-up brainless comedies and bank...it could also be an hour and a half of 'splosions - and also bank...but, I think I'm seeing the fx-heavy action-comedy genre trending / coming back, big time. 'Fun!' Could work / fit. Hope target demos love whoever's playing 'Kurt Russell'... The cinematic-ness that made MGS 'wow' back in the day, is standard fare now. It can go horribly wrong. Maybe they're 15 years too late, w/ this. Quote
Jkongdesigns Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Seems like mixed bag here. Video game movies have a bad reputation of spewing out shit. I wanna say it could be good with right people in place. But the movie will most likely take away the quirky convoluted nonsense mgs is known for. For better or worse But i fucking loved this game series. When i played mgs3 every "video" where he aplies first aid on himself was litterally st8 out of my real life training. Mgs3 and peacewalker was my fav. I also met a British Marine while co oping peacewalker. I like mgs5 but i wish u could co op that game the same way u can with peacewalker Quote
C_U_SPACECOWBOY Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 (edited) Jordan Vogt-Roberts is a big fan of the property and has been vying to helm an adaptaton, for 4 or 5 years. Skull Island was competent and enjoyable, so I have a modicum of hope that this will be handled with a level of respect for the source material we don't usually see with game to film adaptations. Not a fan of Derek Connolly's scripts (Jurassic World was complete trash), but reportedy Vogt-Roberts has had potential screen writers come to his house to actually play MGS entries so again, I'm somewhat hopeful.
