Howdy there cowboy here is you info.

metropolis.jpgmetropolis.jpg

Metropolis

Based on the classic manga (comic) by Osamu Tezuka, the Godfather of anime and manga, Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis is a grand city-state populated by humans and robots, the cohabitants of a strictly segmented society. Amidst the chaos created by anti-robot factions, detective Shunsaku Ban and his sidekick Ken-ichi are searching for rebel scientist Dr. Laughton. But when they locate him, his secret laboratory is destroyed by fire under sinister circumstances, and instead Ken-ichi finds Tima, a beautiful young girl bereft of memory and speech, seemingly helpless at the site. Little does he know that Tima is a new top-of the-line android created to take over Metropolis, and that behind her creation lie the ambitions of a powerful man and his fierce desire to reclaim a tragic figure from his past.

Its a very good story, the mix of animation and computer graphics is great...It is totally as must see...

Well lets I recently heard of Ai Yori Aoshi...

Here are the pics and a smaller summary:

ai_yori_aoshi.gif

Here is a cute pic of Kaoru:

kaoru.jpg

Summary

The series is set in Japan, and we are introduced to one of the main characters, Kaoru Hanabishi, a second year university student. We meet Kaoru at a train station, while there he notices a young lady in a kimono get pushed over and thus he initially helps her out. The young lady goes by the name of Aoi Sakuraba. And upon what seems to be their first encounter, Kaoru finds out that her strap on her shoe is broken and thus fixes it so she can be on her way. Despite Kaoru’s help it appears that Aoi is lost. Aoi is looking for a particular residence and Kaoru helps her out again to find the place she is looking for and catches the train with her. Upon arrival at the residence, they find out that the house that Aoi was looking for is no longer there. Aoi becomes rather depressed by the whole outcome and is uncertain of what to do. Aoi then hands a photograph of the person she is looking for. The photograph contains an image of what seems to be two childhood friends. By some act of coincidence or fate, it turns out that Kaoru is in fact the other childhood friend in the photograph, and Aoi has actually been looking for Kaoru all this time. It turns out that Aoi has been in love with Kaoru since childhood and has grown up to be the perfect wife for him. For the past 18 years her life has been devoted to the fact that she is Aoi’s fiancée. Aoi significantly enough is the heir to the Sakura Department Store. From what appeared to be a chance occurrence, Aoi and Kaoru’s lives are more intertwined then initially perceived. The series complexities are then realized as we find out that Kaoru Hanabashi actually left his family and no longer sees himself as apart of them, despite carrying the last name. It turns out that the engagement of Aoi and Kaoru had become annulled when Kaoru had left his family. Thus, Aoi had come to find Kaoru in hopes of getting him to return to his family, which would then make the engagement between the two renewed.

From here the storyline continues, Kaoru for the most part is very surprised and astonished from the events that have transpired. Their lives are now intertwined as Aoi’s family, the Sakuraba clan gets involved and tries to organize and create the outcome that they would like to see. Ai Yori Aoshi also introduces the female friends of Kaoru, Tina Foster and Taeko Minazuki. His female friends prove to be a distraction as Aoi’s jealousy shows. Ai Yori Aoshi is a romance upon which the storyline dwells in the relatively unpredictable nature of its outcome. The main question the series asks is, ‘Can their growing love overcome all obstacles?’

ok, ok, i hear you cowboy...  i'd like to ask sango.. where do you find your anime?  seems like your description of noir is super sound...  i ask cause most of the anime i watch is from all sources and you know how sound can get...

first of all- child's toy is a riot.  i hear that fansubbing companies go crazy after a few episodes and that the series is done by multiple fansubbers.  it's a lot to read and is like anime on speed.  funny and cute style.

maho sukayi tai is what cowboy was talking about before.  i know it's not spelled right, but in english it's "i want to learn majic"  it's also a funny cute style anime and is quite cool.

i want to see noir from your description, sango, but lately, i've been fixed on cowboy bebop.  this anime features awesome animation, clever plots and a jazzy style.  yokko kanno is quite a force to be reckoned with.

before cowboy bebop, i was hyped about initial d.  This is truely a great series.  It features cgi of car races with techno and dance music.  I admit, it isn't for everyone, cause if you hate cars, it will become painful.  The story is cool too.

back to the basics, check out ranma 1/2, macross plus, and akira.  those have to be my favorites.

thanks alita... speaking of new.. mabye it's just me- but how come there isn't any new ground breaking anime... something that just stands out? I mean the last one was supposed to be ghost in the shell, but that one wasn't as good as i thought it would be... and monoke hime..? what? that was also overhyped in my opinion. I recently read the akira comic. I can really appreciate that guy katsuro otomoto. The story is something else. Should i just go back in time and stick to what i've known in the anime world?

Summary

One sunny day invaders came from space. They weren't little green men or funny girls wearing school uniforms, though. They were ugly robots which defeated the UN forces in seconds! After that the invaders(known as "eyeballs") roamed around and observed human society. In fact, they were peaceful unless attacked. They were polite and followed all the traffic laws, too. Still, they were aliens and the people of Earth wanted them to go home. The Kitanohashi High School Magic Club took it on themselves to defeat these foul robots and free the world......Its cute, funny, and a bit odd but then it wouldn't be anime if it weren't "unique"...well as the story continues sorry some spoilers contained ....The aliens have been defeated, and the Bell has been transformed into a gigantic cherry tree. Now, the brave Magic User's Club must reconvene to deal with a new problem. Sae, Nanaka, Takeo and Aburatsubo are all on the case. Akane would be with them, of course, but she has a date. And, what is the problem our intrepid Magic Club must solve? Well, apparently some inconsiderate persons left a skyscraper sized cherry tree in the middle of Tokyo, and it's become a major inconvenience to everyone in the city. Even though they have no idea who could have done such a thing, the Club feels strangely responsible and spring into action!

.hack//SIGN's Review I found Net Sum

Set in the near future on Earth, technology is growing and subsequently advances are being made in all areas of society. The informational highway known as the Internet is now back online and proceeding as expected. Several years prior to all of this, the Earth suffered from a severely devastating virus attack on the global Internet networks, which caused the online world to be completely shut down. As time wore on, the networks began starting up again, and the first MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) to be established was, 'The World,' was a medieval fantasy online game for people around the world. As such we are introduced to a setting where players take the role of characters within The World.

Early in the series' introduction, .hack//SIGN does a significantly impressive job with presenting a strangely unique setting. The atmosphere within the series is of an imaginary fantasy realm one would visualize through the aspects of a RPG. And the mystical realm is further emphasized through the musical overtones that are present throughout each episode. The general introductory storyline of the anime TV series .hack//SIGN, follows a mysterious young boy, Tsukasa. Tsukasa awakens in The World, a sense of familiarity surrounds him, but at the same time there is confusion as to what has happened to him. Tsukasa is a character within The World and assumes the role of what is called is a Wave Master (a mage class or sorcerer). As the series is introduced we find out that Tsukasa cannot logout from the game and go back to the real world. His situation seems to be indefinite and we follow his journey in order to make sense of what has happened. Along the way he meets other players in The World. His situation grows dangerously as the game moderators; the Scarlet Knights monitor Tsukasa's actions as they soon suspect him to be working with hackers, and this is noted in the arrival of an edited player character that looks like a human shaped cat.

The uniqueness of .hack//SIGN as an anime series, is significantly intriguing. The music presented in the series does an excellent job of depicting a tone that one would find normally present in RPG based video games. The music is done by Yuki Kajiura, who is noted especially on the music he did for the anime TV series, Noir, which debuted back on April 5, 2001. Other works he has been involved in include: Blood: The Last Vampire (Sony Playstation 2) and the animated series, New Kimagure Orange Road and Eat-Man. As such, the atmosphere is presented through the aspects as though progression for each episode is done through the interactive nature of online gaming. The players are presented through their respective characters, and dialogue between the characters is done in a way as though they are actually talking to one another while face-to-face. But in respect to the setting, we can imagine a typical chat interface along with the game, which provide their real world counterparts to interact. In the series there is references to email, BBS (Bulletin Board System), administrators and other associated online necessities. Confusion arises in separating a rather distinct fantasy video game world with the interaction via the real world. Yet how things are generated in these matters in the series is what creates a systematic nature of intrigue as viewers begin to wonder how things will come about.

In terms of the anime series and the overall project development of .hack. The anime TV version focuses primarily on the real world human counterparts. The storyline basis behind the anime series serves as the method to describe the back-story and overall development of The World itself. The characters introduced as well as the general outline in the anime series serve as the way to build upon an understanding prior to the situations that lead up to the video game and OVA versions of .hack.

Once again, with that in mind, an array of questions is immediately asked with the introduction of the anime series. Who is Tsukasa? What role does he play? Why can't he logout? What happened to him in the real world? Who is the mysterious edited player character, the cat? What purpose does he serve? How does this effect The World? What service will the other players introduced have? .hack//SIGN is unique in such a way that it challenges the viewer with each progressive episode. The anime TV series, .hack//SIGN by Bandai Visual and its creators is the just the introduction to a project that will undoubtedly waver a significant amount of success.

Rurouni Kenshin: Seisouhen

"Seisou Hen. The Passing of Time Arc. Star Mist Arc. Call it what you want, but this OAV is the final installment of the Rurouni Kenshin series. All of the original voice actors for the characters that we've grown to love have returned and the team that created the stunning Memory Arc OAV just a few years ago reunited to bring us this new masterpiece. There are two episodes of the Seisou Hen, one released in December 2001 and the other released in March 2002."-Internet Review Comment

Kenshin.jpg

NET SUM warning....... major, major spoilers.......

The first scene of Rurouni Kenshin: Seisouhen is of Kenshin on a boat, in China. It's raining and thundering, the waves are splashing up against the sides of the boat. One of the sudden waves throws Kenshin off the boat, and we see Kenshin sink to the bottom. This is when the black title screen appears. The new OVA, in a nutshell, reanimates all of Kenshin's major battles. These include his first "real" battle in the Rurouni Kenshin series , Jin'eh, as well as fight scenes from the Tokyo Arc; Soujiro Seta the Tenken, and the ever climactic battle with Mokoto Shishio. The OVA ends with something new -- a scene of Enishi (Tomoe's younger brother whom you will recall from the first four OVAs) covering Kamiya Kaoru's mouth with a paper towel with chloroform on it (or so we surmise).

Within this OVA, we get to see some of the beloved characters from the original Rurouni Kenshin series. Most of the characters, such as Kenshin and Kaoru, have grown somewhat old and feeble, and have also fallen victim to a disease (Kaoru herself had willingly let herself contract it, to prove her love to Kenshin, which is all mentioned in the second Seisouhen). However, Yahiko has also grown up, and his respect for Kenshin is still strong within his heart, which leads to a conflict with a new character to the OVAs; Kenji Himura, Kenshin's son. Despite Kenshin's pacifistic efforts in raising his son, Kenji has been more reliant on Seijuro Hiko for advice, as Kenshin has been away fighting wars. Kenji's lack of respect for Kenshin leads to a battle between him and Yahiko, with Yahiko as the victor.

The second OVA of Seisouhen continues from where we left off, with Enishi capturing Kaoru. Apparently, Enishi has brought Kaoru to some sort of Island and is holding her there until Kenshin arrives. Enishi wants revenge for his sister, Tomoe, who was murdered by Kenshin. Of course, what he saw was somewhat out of context, as Tomoe had dived in front of Kenshin's blade. Eventually, in a typical Rurouni Kenshin fashion, Kenshin shows up, defeats Enishi, shows him where he made his "critical error", and everything is fine and dandy.

The rest of the OVA takes place after the final Arc of Kenshin, and a few years more. Kenshin was apparently rescued by Sanosuke, who was living in Shanghai at the time. Sanosuke takes Kenshin to his little shack up on the mountain, but it's clearly demonstrated that Kenshin is losing his memory and has grown weak in his old age. Sanosuke sends Kenshin on a boat back to Japan, where Kaoru has been patiently waiting for him. When Kenshin arrives back to Japan, him and Kaoru almost chase each other down and wind up on a hill, amongst the blooming cherry blossoms, where they both die. And so concludes Rurouni Kenshin, the Wandering Swordsman.

  • 3 weeks later...

Although no one ever post in here I will give you Fushi Fans some info on the up and coming Fushi 3rd anime release series...yes thats right 3rd as I stated before three years after the 2nd ova is the setting for this 3rd ova...Well here is the scope:

**Note** If you wish to see some pics please go to 2nd page of this thread...

Sum of what will be going on:

The 4-volume OVA is based on the novel series "Fushigi Yugi Gaiden - Eikouden (Parts 1 & 2)," and this is volume 1 of 4. Miaka and Taka Sukunami (who is Tamahome reincarnated) get married. But a new danger awaits the world of the Shishin Tenchisho... In addition to popular characters such as Suzaku Shichiseishi, new characters are introduced in this series.

It's been three years since the end of those events. The book was returned to the research section of the library to be forgotten. Taka and Miaka have grown up nicely and are still very much in love. We witness their wedding that has just taken place and then quickly learn that it was something of a shotgun wedding as Miaka's already three months pregnant. Taka's still as money-tight as usual, but it appears his main source of income is being a coach for the school, primarily the girls basketball team.

And it's in this area that the trouble begins. Back when the book was returned to the library, it ended up being selected for deep archiving. But the book has a mind of its own and managed to conveniently fall off... who Picks up the book??? whats going to happen next?

**Warning May Contain Spoilers** (highlight to read below)

only to let young eigth grader Mayo Sakaki grab it. She takes it home with her, but forgets it on the train ride. The book continues its journey for three years until it finally finds her again. And it finds her the day of Taka and Miaka's wedding, where Mayo had been walking home after catching the bouquet.

That's right, our little Mayo has a thing for Taka, Miaka be damned. She takes the book home and opens it up, letting the entire story flow visually into her mind in only a few instants. She knows all that's gone before. But she doesn't like the ending and is set on making a new one, one where Miaka's selfishness in wanting to be happy doesn't rule the day. Miaka finds herself adversely affected by all of this, as the moment the book was re-opened, she went unconscious and all traces of her baby has disappeared, as if she was never pregnant. Her brother comes across Mayo the following day and realizes what's going on when he sees the now worn down book and tries to stop Mayo.

But not soon enough as she opens the book and goes to Konan as the new priestess of Suzaku. Taka learns of this and takes things into his own hands and returns to Konan as well, only to find the country falling into ruin. Ten years have passed here and something evil is at work. Taka swears to the young emperor that he will gather the remaining Suzaku Seven and set things right, much to the chagrin of Mayo whose been welcomed there with her lies about her and Taka being married. Taka wants little to do with Mayo as the bigger concerns are on his mind.

Prince of Tennis AKA POT

ptennis_f.jpg

Summary:

Prince of Tennis, otherwise known as Tennis no Ohjisama was Created by Takeshi Konomi. Well I've only seen One episode and this show is as addicting as hikaru no go or coffee in the morning. It is about Echizen Ryoma he starts playing tennis at a young age because his dad is a legend since he played as a pro. He enters the junior high school (barely in 7th grade) of Seishun Gakuen, which is known for having a great tennis team. He becomes a regular, or if you want to call it, a varsity member. So his adventures begin by playing against his own teammates and other boys from other schools. It doesn't sound so exciting but its really funny...

Echizen Nanjiroh - Ryoma's dad who is a legend of tennis. He was a pro at tennis and won many championships. He is not your serious type and is always joking around. Quite perverted since the rest of the time he does not spend playing tennis with Ryoma, he is looking at a mangazine with girls in swimsuits...

Inui Sadaharu - 3rd year that was a regular before Ryoma got into the team and beat him. Kaidoh later beat him earning the spot left to be a regular. He is now the manager and trains the team. He is this really funny guy with glasses that loves to prepare strange drinks for the team.

pot01.jpg:Echizen Ryoma - Main character from our story, stoic of course. The first regular ever to be a freshman. He is quite arrogant due to his skills but not to the point that you cannot tolerate him. His goal is to beat his dad, Echizen Nanjiroh.

So Basically its a story about becoming the best in something you do well and over coming the chanlleges that come your way....

Outlaw Star

os6.jpg

Summary:

The story begins when Jeen and his sidekick, Jim, are hired by a pirate, Hilda, to guard her as she obtains the necessary item to activate a hidden ship. To Jeen and Jim's surprise the "item" turns out to be a lovely girl—an android—named Melfeena, who is the only one who can interface with the ship Jeen eventually renames Outlaw Star. Throughout this adventure, they are pursued by pirates, although whether the pirates' objective is Melfeena or the Outlaw Star has not been made clear yet. To complicate things and add a little angst into the series, Jeen has space phobia, a result of being bundled into an ejection pod by his father as a child and then shot into space as the lone survivor of a pirate attack. Along the way, Jeen and co. run into Eisha, a cat-like alien of the Kataar-Kataar Empire with monstrous physical strength and an equally monstrous appetite. Eisha takes this encounter rather unhappily (and rightly so!), and haunts Jeen as he travels from space station to space station. Unfortunately, the only way she can pay her way is to work as a waitress! Later, Jeen also meets up with a female assassin who can cut through buildings with a wooden sword!

It has alot of kick ass action but not alot of romantic parts if thats what your into you won't find it here lol...Yet in conclusion, OUTLAW STAR is a fun anime, a little light on substance but with enough action and lots of humor to make it worth a watch.

Digi Charat

dg3.jpg

Summary I got off the net:

Story? What story? You're just supposed to look at the cute characters and giggle mindlessly. Isn't that the point of anime? ^_~; Anyway, Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat is the prequel to Di Gi Charat, an equally mindless show about a human-alien-person-thing named Dejiko who works at Gamers with her friends and not-so-much-friends. In Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat, Dejiko is a princess on Di Gi Charat Planet, an Earthlike planet with a Dejiko-style hat on top. She reads an engaging book about a person who made people happy and decides she should make people happy herself.

Of course, Dejiko makes friends and meets self-proclaimed rivals along the way, but interestingly enough, these are different from the characters of the original Di Gi Charat.

N.B. This summary of the storyline seems to be so intelligent that someone has swiped it. ^_~

But sadly it is true....Their really anime much story its justs a cute thing
