No one posts new lyrics, so I'll just take the initative. It's the opening song of a classic album from one of the greatest bands to span generations:

Check it out

What are you saying

What are you playing

Who are you obeying

day out day in?

Baby baby baby

That stuff is driving me crazy

DJs communicate to the masses

Sex and violent classes

Now our children grow up prisoners

All their lives radio listeners

Well, I hae to replace the lyrics now. This place has been dead, so I'm not sure if no one's seen these new lyrics, of if they're really stumping everyone. I hope the previous, cause that wasn't that hard.

That was Radio Song by REM, the first song off Out Of Time.

Time to put this to the test. IF there's anyone left on this board who checks this thread, they will get this.

At home

Drawing pictures

Of mountaintops

With him on top

Lemon yellow sun

Arms raised in a V

The dead lay

In pools of maroon below

Dunno about anyone else but the REM stumped me. As for that one, good vid, Jeremy by PJ I reckon.

Another easy one...

And then on the drive home

I Called her mom, from a payphone

Said I was the cops, said her husbands in jail

This state looks down on sodomy

And thats about the time the bitch hung up on me... :D

What's My Age Again by Blink 182

Another easy one. If you don't know this one, you need to get yourself educated about your roots.

Johnny's in the basement mixing up the medicine

I'm on the pavement think 'bout the government

The man in the trecnh coat, badge out, laid off

Says he's got a bad cough, wants to get it paid off

Look out kid, it's something you did

God knows when but you're doing it again

You better duck down the alleyway

Looking for a new friend

The man in the coon skin cap in a pig pen

What's 11 dollar bills, you only got ten.

Well, it's a few hours from being three days since I posted the lyrics, I'll just do it now then. You were right MLB, it was Bob Dylan. The song was Subterrean Homesick Blues. Red Hot Chili Peppers would also have been accepted as their cover of it rocks. If you have the bandwidth, Downland the 1964 music video of Dylan's Subterrean Homesick Blues. It's a riot. OK, let's try this one classic from my childhood mini-mosh-pit-at-my-friends'-houses days:

I am the Astro-Creep

A demolition style hell american freak, yeah!

I am the crawling dead

A phantom in a box, shadow in your head, say

Acid suicide

Freedom of the blast read, the fucker lies

Scratch off the broken skin

Tear into my heart, make me do it again, yeah

Ok then...that was White Zombie's More Human Than Human. Everyone here has heard this song whether you recognize the name or not. Back to basics again.

If you want, to destroy my sweater

Pull this thread, as I walk away (as I walk away)

Watch me unravel, I'll soon be naked (lying on the floor)

Lying on the floor, I've come undone

OK, that does it for me and this game. Not knowing a Bob Dylan radio hit or a White Zombie radio hit, that's one thing, but not knowing a Weezer radio hit? Come on, I even gave you guys the fucking chorus! Whatever. Somebody post new lyrics, not enough people check this thread anymore to play the game.

Time for new lyrics. This is, lyrically speaking, easily one of my favorite songs ever.

So, so you think you can tell,

Heaven from Hell,

blue skies from pain.

Can you tell a green field,

from a cold steel rail?

A smile from a veil?

Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you trade,

your heroes for ghosts?

Hot ashes for trees?

Hot air for a cold breeze?

Cold comfort for change?

And did you exchange

a walk on part in the war,

for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish,

how I wish you were here.

We're just two lost souls,

swimming in a fish bowl,

year after year,

running over the same old ground.

What have we found?

The same old fears,

wish you were here.

Is it Incubus - I wish you were here ? (not sure as I only got it from the chorus bit)

Assuming it is,

Your pop caught you smoking - and he said, "No way!"

That hypocrite - smokes two packs a day

Man, living at home is such a drag

Now your mom threw away your best porno mag

Heh...Jax had Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here", MLB had Beastie Boys "Fight for your right to party". Here's another easy classic one along Jax's lines.

..and as we wind on down the road

our shadows taller than our souls

there was a lady we all know

who shines white light and wants it shown

how everything still turns to gold

and if you listen very hard

the tune will come to you at last

where all is one and one is all

to be a rock and not to roooollll...."

Right you are IC, and since even quintessential Floyd gets me nothing but blank stares, I'm going to stick to strictly post-Nevermind lyrics. Your lyrics, IC, are from Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven. Overrated? Perhaps, but still beautiful adn powerful.

Reluctantly crouched, at the starting line

Engines, pumping, and thumping in time

The green light flashes, the flags go up

Churning, and burning, they yearn for the cup

They deftly manuver, and muscle for rank

Fuel burning fast, on an empty tank

Rechless and wild, they pour through the turns

Their prowess is potent, and sercetly stern

As they speed through the finish, the flags go down

The fans get up, and they get out of town

The arena is empty, except for one man

Still driving, and striving, as fast as he can

The sun has gone down and the moon has come up

And long ago somebody left with the cup

But he's driving and striving, hugging the turns

And thinking of someone, for whom, he, still, burns

Great song, I know its Cake, but can't think of the title....ummm....oh i know Going the Distance

If you like cool driving theme songs check out DJ Shadow - Mashin' on the motorway. Absolutely awesome.

"If the man is five then the man is five then the man is five

Then the devil is six then the devil is six the devil is six

And then god is seven and then god is seven and god is seven..."
