Ultimate Spiderman

I'm hyped as fuck about this. It's supposedly out this Thursday.

I want to know what the difference between the Collector';s Edition and the regular edition is... besides a ten dollar difference. Anyone know?

The reviews are saying-

It's really quite a Zen like experience to be able to web-sling, jump then wall climb up to the top of a sky scraper only to then take a double jump swan dive off the top then perform another web-sling just as you come within a few feet from the streets below, ascending to another roof top. Combat as Spidey is fast and furious and with a little time you will be subduing baddies then 'cuffing' them with your web-zip. The game moves at a solid 30 fps and the fluidity of the animation and the transition (animation blending) from one movement to another is done very well and really helps sell the fact that your are SPIDER-MAN.

Yeah there's a "special edition" of the game that comes with a comic book, I think a dvd with some making-of stuff on it, things like that. Game's exactly the same though so I dunno if it's worth the ten extra bucks. If you're into it for the web-swinging, give Spider-man 2 a shot. The swinging mechanics are juuust a little bit more complex than in Ultimate Spider-man, so the control is a bit tighter. The city is also a bit bigger. Still, both games have great swinging in 'em, and I gotta admit I prefer swinging around in Ultimate Spidey because the Bagley inspired city scape is so much more attractive.

Anyway, some XBox 360 screens for ya tonight.

Perfect Dark 0

Uber-game company Rare defined the console FPS with GoldenEye, but they haven't done a first-person shooter since the original Perfect Dark debuted on the N64 back in 2000. Needless to say, this prequel has everyone wondering if they've still got what it takes in this new Halo-fueled market of shooters. From the (finally) first screenshots of gameplay they just released, it certainly seems like they're on the right track.

No oddly enough, Gun is also set to come out on the PS2, Gamecube and XBox, but it looks like the 360 is its only next-gen release.

And yeah I agree about the sports games, particularly that NBA 2K6. Between the expression-less faces and the weird plastic look they're giving the skin texture, it looks like a game played by action figures or something.

Dunno a whole lot about the game yet, but I got a voice cast list. It's got some great Western actors in it, including Brad Dourif (who does a great job on HBO's Deadwood), Tom Skearritt, Lance Henricksen and Kris Kristofferson. As if that wasn't enough, it's also got Ron Perlman and Tom Jane (The Punisher himself) as the hero of the game.

Heh, that's exactly what I was thinking too, it's like a photo- realistic image of some NBA action figures.

I think the sweaty texture makes sense though, as long as they don't look like that from the minute they get on the court. Definitely a lot of work needed on animating those dead Polar Express faces.

Yeah, a sweaty texture would be cool, they just haven't gotten it to look like sweat yet. I finally figured out what they remind me of. Anyone ever have those old GI Joes as a kid? Not the little three inch high ones, but the big ones with the rubbery skin? That's what they remind me of.

First screen shots from the Nintendo Revolution. These are scanned (poorly) from some magazine. Bear in mind these are in development shots so we only have it on trust that they're not spoofing us with pre rendered images.

It's a first person shooter that utilises the Revolution controller like a light gun, you can move anywhere you want using the separate joystick attachment.

Okay, this is my favourite shot, it's subtle you might not notice it at first, but the dude is holding the controller sideways in the shot, so in the game the gun is sideways. Nice.

More shots of Too Human, this game is going to be a great one for MS to combat the PS3 this year. The game was created by Silicon Knights, the same guys who did Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen for the PS1, and Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes for the GC. They have yet to put out a bad game, and Too Human is looking friggen awesome.

The game is supposed to be based heavily on Norse Mythology and is the first game in what is planned to be a trilogy. Looks friggen sweet. The game will be an action game with some RPG elements. These shots are all supposed to by gameplay.
