Mr. Hakujin
Look, there's no ironic facial hair or mismatched 80s clothing on either of them. Plus there music is too mainstream for any respectable hipster. I'm going w/ the standard "indie-pop darlings" as my tag for them for the time being. And now for some "true hipster" music..as in cool cat hipsters from the 60s. Esperanza Spalding is my new music-girl crush. That Pomplamoose chic is so 5 minutes ago:
The NZA
this is a picture of haku hanging out with his friends on his off-time. im not gonna ruin it and say which one he is. as commented back on facebook: good find, man. plays an instrument + sings like that? no idea how i've not heard her prior. related: we should do a poll to see if anyone's got female vocalists that sound sexier than Sade. i'd be interested in seeing her competition. Mr. Hakujin
Yeah, I heard it and it was solid R&B. I put a track on my "mood mix" for ye olde iPod. But I was more crackin' on the decade timespan between drops for her albums.

Aartemys
The Beginning - Black Eyed Peas It's okay, but I like some of their earlier stuff a bit better. Catchy tunes, nice beats. I am sure David Guetta produced most if not all of the album...

Mr. Hakujin
Do yourself a favor and give the new album "21" by Adele a listen. She's got a soulful rock sound that reminds me a lot of Van Morrison's first album. And her voice is somewhere between Joan Osborne and Janis Joplin. Amazon says: This new collection of songs showcases the growth of this incredible artist, who at the very young age of twenty two, exhibits the poise of a seasoned veteran. Adele's music takes some new direction while staying true to her signature style. "I discovered lots of artists I'd never heard of, particularly Wanda Jackson, Allison Krauss, Yvonne Fair, Andrew Bird, Neko Case, Lady Antebellum and Steel Drivers who I fell in love with. Then I delved in to more from artists I've loved forever - Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Elbow, Mos Def, Alanis Morissette, Tom Waits and Sinead O'Connor. There's something in every single one of these artists that have really really inspired 21." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw Edited January 29, 2011 by Mr. Hakujin
