What are you listening to right now?

Side note: Before I had ever heard his song "Grenade" I assumed it was a reference to the Jersey Shore...heh!

The Civil Wars - "Barton Hollow"

I love the backwater bluesy-ness of it!

I heard it for the first time on Saturday and I really like it...

The new Ben Harper album is OK, but this track is a gem. One of his best tunes evar!

One of the greatest blues songs of all time

The Death Of J.b. Lenoir

A car has killed a friend down in Chicago, thousand miles away

A car has killed a friend down in Chicago, thousand miles away

When I read the news, night came early in my day

J.B Lenoir is dead and it's hit me like a hammer blow

J.B Lenoir is dead and it's hit me like a hammer blow

I cry inside my heart that the world can hear my man no more

J.B had a struggle playin' unappreciated blues in vain

J.B had a struggle playin' unappreciated blues in vain

Now the Blues has lost a king and I've lost a friend who died in vain

I've never heard this one before. Well done, ASC. And here's another video link as the one you posted is apparently not visible in the US. :/

I know exactly what you mean, and I thought the same thing as soon as it started. It loses the resonant percussive quality that section of the song should have. I listened to some other covers that didn't have that problem, but this guy used the velocity sensitivity to build up the chorus in a way that I liked a lot.

Um, yeah. That's ttly what I meant by "off."

And since you seem to be digging this song, here's a pretty sweet a cappella version

I do like that song, I do not like that version of it. I've been trying to find a growl-y industrial cover, because I think it could work brilliantly, but the closest I've found is some generic techno shit.

I guess I'll just have to do it myself. /crack knuckles
