Bill Murray Is Legally Allowed To Steal Wu Tang Album From Martin Shkreli

Bill-Murray-Wu-Tang.png

Nobody was happy when we learned that Martin Shkreli bought the mysterious Wu Tang album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin at auction for $2 million.

That’s because Shkreli’s practice of purchasing the patents on essential drugs and then jacking up the price thousands of percent has made him one of the most hated men in America.

But there’s an odd clause in the deal Shkreli signed with RZA that could give this tale a happy ending. Apparently active members of the Wu Tang Clan and Rza’s buddy Bill Murray (and only those people) have one shot at stealing the album back without legal ramifications.

Given the clause, we’d imagine Once Upon a Time in Shaolin is heavily guarded and under lock and key. But if Murray and Wu were to decide to mount a takeback it would make for a pretty terrific movie.

The Wu is back

Wu-Tang may spend some time away from the game, but they're never truly gone. Everybody is well familiar with the legendary Clan, who burst onto the scene in the early nineties. Backed by an innovative mix of menacing instrumentals and vocal samples from classic kung-fu flicks, it didn't take long for the Clan to make their impression on a burgeoning New York scene. Fast forward to over two decades later, where The Wu was more known for a questionable partnership with Martin Shkreli than they were for the merits of any new music. In fact, their last studio album A Better Tormorrow dropped back in 2014, and failed to really leave a lasting impression on die hard Shaolin soldiers.

Now, the RZA has made a glorious announcement: the Wu will be dropping their latest album Wu Tang: The Saga Continues on October 13th. In a statement, RZA confirms the ten-song project will be released through the 36 Chambers Alc lifestyle company. The album is said to be executive produced by RZA and curated by longtime collaborator Mathematics, who presumably helped shape the tracklist. Check out what RZA had to say about the album below:

"For years, Math has had the idea of putting together a body of music using modern and legendary equipment such as ASR10 with vocal performances by Wu-Tang Clan members and other prominent MCs. With The Saga Continues he’s created a masterpiece. We at 36 Chambers ALC are honored to work with Mathematics and Wu-Tang Clan to put out a great piece of art."

in case ya'll missed it!

RZA and Ghostface’s Wu-Tang Horror Movie Is Probably Not for the Children

Quote

This year is gearing up to be a big one for the Wu-Tang Clan. The upcoming Wu-Tang docuseries Of Mics and Menjust premiered at Sundance, a scripted series about the early days of the group is headed to Hulu, and now, it looks like another Wu-Tang joint is headed to the big screen. On Tuesday, Deadline reportedthat RZA and Ghostface Killah are working on a brand-new horror film set in Staten Island—and it sounds tight as hell.

Details about the project are still pretty scant, but what we do know is promising. According to Deadline, RZA will direct the new film, called Angel of Dust, based on a story by Ghostface and Wu-Tang's manager, Caruso. Ghostface will also reportedly handle the film's original soundtrack and RZA will pen the score.

The upcoming horror thriller is supposedly "inspired by true stories that happened around the hood to members of the global iconic rap group," but according to Deadline, the film's plot also involves some serial killers with superpowers, so take that as you will:
