The NZA
so, i of course broke down & got the zelda starter kit. Nintendo gets an extra $10 from me for putting a triforce on the controller & hylian crest on the system holder thing... *sigh* Elebits is on its way to my place, courtesy of gamefly - ill post a review next week after some time with it, then im hoping to try out the new Sonic, and im hoping its an improvement (hint: 1up has a good article on how this could happen). Anyone else check out the new "vote" channel last night? Yeah, i know its not groundbreaking, but i got it along with Mario 64, so that was cool. I already submitted my question, we'll see if it goes: "Which sequel do you want more, Kid Icarus 2 or Earthbound 2?" heh. oh, and if you think these channels dont mean much, ask yourself: where does BBC really get its intel...? The NZA
Wii boxing glitch in other news: the japanese Wii virtual console is getting Neo-Geo and MSX, but im not salty cause were finally getting ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS and its one of konami's finest despite panch's best efforts. whilst we speak on the wii in this thread: if youre an engineer, here's how to play NES/SNES controllers wirelessly on the wii Kotaku says: BAD NEWS: Metroid Prime 3? Yeah, it's not coming in "early 2007". The focus on 'Prime 3' is to make that the stellar game for a first-person experience on the platform. ... What that means is we're going to make sure it's perfect when we launch it. I think this is one where your readers -- the fans of Nintendo, the core gamer -- need to recognize that when we release it, it will be perfect. And if that's a little later than folks would have liked, I'm hoping they're going to be happy. Hey, chin up. Lemme see that smile of yours. There you go, kiddo. I know, I know he said "read my lips". But remember, there's still some good news, so don't go crying just yet... GOOD NEWS: Reggie isn't really that big of a Mother fan. But Iwata is. So Totilo asked probably the most perfect question ever in light of yesterday's news about Japanese Virtual Console games: How about some Mother 3 on the Virtual Console? It certainly is a franchise near and dear to [iwata's] heart, and it's something I'm trying to get smart on to understand whether or not there is an opportunity here. But certainly I've seen the success in Japan. That hasn't gone unnoticed. And it's certainly something we're looking at. Two positive statements regarding a Western Mother release in two days? Creepy. BONUS GOOD NEWS: Reggie also spoke about some extra goodies they can shill using the Virtual Console. As in, not a game or a Wii Channel. We have a tremendous amount of old Nintendo Power [magazine] content, for example, that we could present to consumers as a way to get smart about Virtual Console If it's free (which by his tone it may well be), knock yourself out, Reggie. That'd be swell. So: Metroid Prime delayed (not unexpected, i think), Earthbound might be on the way, and a new Wii channel for old-school Nintendo Power? I feel way better about losing my old boxes of that mag now, that'd be awesome.

Jables
I got one!!!! I Traitor!!!! I was seriously considering trading my 360 yesterday for one. I want it sooo bad. Does anyone on here have both? Can you pleaaaaaase advise me? At this point the pros Vs cons weigh up like so- The 360 fulfills my every whim(with the notable exception of it not being a motion-based nintendo), communications, variety of games(I just got Worms on Arcade- I advise all of you on my friendslist to do the same), and the fact that I come home from work & it just comforts me with it's companionship & very presence. On the otherhand, the Wii looks to be so much more interactive & fun, the Miis look like a blast(can Jax or someone explain to me how that all works? Do you create these things like Sims & have them interact internationally or what? How comprehensive is it?), MOST IMPORTANTLY it has a full web-browser(my PC's for shit & Lani's laptop is busted) so I could do all my hondos stuff & porn-searching on my tv, and it seems like the best way to keep in touch woth a lot've the other hondonians who don'y have a 360. Bearing in mind with the wedding to pay for I can't seem to have both. It looks like to get a Wii I'll have to trade in the core console(the HD ain't going anywhere). Cons are basically this as I see them- I worry the Wii won't satisfy me on a "practical gaming" level the way the 360 does, extra controls & games to buy all over again, how slow is the browser, is there any point to gaming at all without a gamer score? How will I cope without achievements? :P

The wii is suffering from a lul in the good games dept at the moment. Which should pick up by q4 this year. The browser in my opinion is a waste of time, the mii's are class, but all they really do is sit on your console, and turn up in the games like wii play and wii sports. Overall the wii's online service at the moment is pretty non existant, but i would expect that to change. Add to the fact to play GC games or VC games you have to have other controllers which makes it a bit of a bind. Don't get me wrong, i'm happy i've got a wii, i just haven't played it in about a month!

Reverend Jax
You've enough hope to trade you system out for it? Are you sick of the 360? Seems like the only reason someone would trade away their system for one they had a bad feelign about but are hoping will be good is if they didn't like their current system at all. the division of joy
more bored of my 360.... i've played everything i have to death... and the merits of the ps2's playability is coming back in droves really
Jables
So everyone was an incredible help, thanks!! With my silver tongue I was able to get my Wii & keep the 360(at the end of the day I couldn'a given the old boy up). I'm suprised that noone's previously mentioned the additional AU$70 one has to cough up in order to get online without a wireless network(does everyone have wireless but me?), but aside from that I'm pretty damned happy. The Miis are cute, I'm waiting to see how the international exchange thing works before I go creating Hondos Miis(I'd sooner have one created by the horse's mouth so to speak as opposed to my bizarro versions), WiiPlay & WiiSports didn't captivate as long as I thought they might've, but I hired Red Steel and I swear- no person should be made to feel as retarded as I did when I started playing. Now I'm loving it though. Zelda's next, and once I get online I'll be hitting lani's credit card pretty hard on the virtual Console.
The NZA
Awesome. And like i said over text, Wii's awesome, but its not consided by some to be next-gen, and i dont think its meant to replace a 360, certainly during the slump its lookin at this year. Here is a good link on said slump, tho I'm hearing this is what happens when people werent expecting the Wii to sell like it did, i expect more 3rd party support later in the game. Meantime, personally, i think Paper Mario looks awesome, and Mario Galaxy, Metriod and Animal Crossing all got me excited. The other downsides youll soon see, now that youre part of the club: there's not much online but Virtual Console (which is aweosme, tho slightly overpriced), miis and messaging. Also, i dont have a wireless router either, so for me, it was system, plus 2 controllers, wi-fi, holding case (had zelda on it, natch), NES skin for the system, and recently a wii charge station that works like an ipod dock, brings rechargables & such for $30, great deal. But the total was well over the original $250, as you can see. Also, anyone who told you Wii sports and Wii play were more than really fun demos was lying. That said, i kinda wanna buy Elebits, Red Steel, and im still waiting on the new Sonic in the mail, lookin forward to that one. Zelda's on deck as well...ill keep you in the loop when other titles crop up as well. PS heads up, Spielberg and EA are working on the wii! Jables
Here's a hum-dinger of a question- Are Wiis region-free? Bish informed me a while back the DS's are, so I'd assume the Wiis are too. Red Steel is just a blast right now & I can't wait to try Zelda. Since I ditched my GC ages ago in the niave idea that I was getting a launch wii, there's gonna be a whole buncha 'cube titles I can catch up on for next-to-bupkiss(in a rare act of foresight I kept my wireless GC control). A big release I'm looking forward to is Trauma Centre, and aside from that, one've the first accessories I buy'll be a NES skin for it. The NZA
Shit, ill have to wiki it, i dont know that theyre regiion-free, i figured nintendo woudlnt allow that, sadly. If you can find cheap GC titles, any chance of Eternal Darkness? been wantin to play that one again, assumin itd work here. I too cant wait to jack borrow Jax's copy of Trauma Center, i got just page the first stage or so in that one.
Jables
Is TC out over there?! I'll keep a lookout for Eternal Darkness, but if you can't find it over there I doubt we'll have it. I'll try my handy-dandy import shop inna Valley.
The NZA
its cool, i can get it for like $20 on ebay, just being cheap. TC was a launch title, thankfully. I just opted for Zelda first, and have had it on the backburner for a while now, but with the new TV & time off coming after next week, im gonna hold my Master Sword prop, wii-mote (with triforce on it, natch) and get to work.
Jables
... And why the fucking christ do I not have Trauma Centre down under?!?!? Now I gotta see if these things are region-free.
soldier of fortune
Sadly the games for Wii aren't region free! Some of the games available stateside are class, but we'll get em eventually. You can get something to play GC games from anywhere though, i can't remember what its called, but its pretty reliable from what i hear.
