yeah, just noticed that. i wanna give props to Dark Horse here (they're my 2nd favorite publisher, on some days, they're first), but that has a lot to do with Miura, tragically. everything i read says stuff like Love + and other dating type J-games delay his next volume by months.

I remember thinking how excruciatingly spread out Dark Horses' release schedule was for this book, with only 6 a year. And yet here we are. Waiting on one volume a year like the rest of the world...

Well, I happen to know that in Spain the people who publish Berserk stopped at vol 30. So they got screwed. :pinch:

When i have time im gonna continue with my fantastic contribution to this thread :)

But before we go, I wanna tell you Berserk fans (by the way where are all the fans besides us 3??) that a rumor started to spread in the land of the rising sun. A rumor about a new Berserk anime. Thats right! And what proves this? Well, this animation cell that leaked from STUDIO 4°C. Are you as existed as I am??

pretty sure that turned out to be an elaborate fan project or something else? we got posts about it in the anime forum.

did Dark Horse completely catch up yet? i haven't checked in a while, latest i have is early into volume 35.

Dark Horse just released Volume 34 on September 15th. There's no date for volume 35, hell, 35 is not even out in Japan. It looks like we're in for year long waits between volumes from now on....

The wraparound jacket band on the 35th volume of Kentarou Miura's Berserk fantasy manga is announcing this month that a new anime project is launching. More information will be provided in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine and the affiliated Young Animal Web site.

Here's the link!!!

I don't think we can get any more reliable a source than the friggin' cover of volume 35 in japan!!

So, in order to read #34 i had to re-read #33. Wich was great cos i had forgotten how awesome was Roderick in the naval fight against the pirates.

Now, regarding #34:

Goddamn i was so excited to see again the Skull knight. And when he tried to strike Femto i stopped breathing :D BTW is there anything in the world that can hurt that motherfucker??

Seeing the Godhand again was nice too. But it raised some question for me:

If Griffith/Femto are STILL part of the Godhand and we get to see that he stays all the time in our realm, where the rest of the Godhand hangs out when they're not "creating" apostles?? Why they dont like to stay in our realm like Griffith? Is it like a preference thing?? They dont like to be here and because of that they're in their own places...

And another thing: If Griffith can switch back from Femto to Griffith and backwards, are the rest of the Godhand like that?? If so, what are they others forms like?

After the last chapter (Fantasia) i cant help but thinking that the story is again at a turning point. I can say that Berserk has had 3, very, different stories within the main plot. First the golden age (when Guts was young and happy in the Band of the Hawk), then the whole killing apostles and avenging and finally the really really dark age when he doesnt kill any apostle but hes consumed totally with his vengance (even more than before). With all the monsters and fantastic creatures that appeared in the world what do you think is gonna happen? Are the common people gonna become cannon fodder for the monster and start living in the run (and i mean this like in a post-apocaliptic scenario). Meanwhile Falconia rises with his cruel King: Griffith. Meanwhile Guts FINALLY reaches Elfhelm and comes back to see all turn to shit, but thats ok, cos hes now fully healed and ready to kick ass with Casca :) ...I would like that.

Too bad that probably we're gonna get #35 by DH sometime next year...

So, i was thinking and i came to the conclusion that the Eclipse was, really, a good thing. Let me explain. For one part it gave us the whole revenge/I want to kill everything that moves angle. Griffith got the tools (AKA The power) he needed to fullfill his dream and Guts got a goal in his life. That's what shocked me the most. I now remember that Guts was a guy who was lost in his life, just like he was living aimlessly before joining the Band of The Hawk. When he decides to leave, for a time he is again lost. With a really vague definition of his goal or dream. If i remember correctly he: a) wanted to be happy and b) wanted to be like Griffith, so he can talk to him as an equal. Well, the Eclipse fixed that. Now he has a well defined goal in life: To kill Griffith. He has been trying for many years now, i dont know what would happen when he finally manages to do so.

So there, the Eclipse was good for everyone... Well except for the guys in The Band of the Hawk who got turned into a quick meal and of course Casca, who got fucked (literally).

...so, here we are. chapter 318 or so last i checked? the new "Fantasia" arc is going full blast, but we've been on this boat/island for like a year and a half now - last year saw 9 chapters released, total. im really trying to be patient with Miura cause a) the story's so good and b) i cant name many artists trying for his level of detail. i cant sta y mad at the guy for taking months off at a time from a story he's been at for over a decade.

that said, i wanted to share that i'd read about him telling a fansite a year or two back that he claims the story is 60-70% finished, so at least we know that much.

also, the sea god he's lining up to take on this arc is said to be "a step or two above Apostles", so that should be incredible...we'll see if black armor Guts can keep it together.

It goes without saying that i enjoyed a lot tankoubon #35 of Berserk. For me the best part of everything was finally seeing Falconia, the capital of Griffith's kingdom. That was an awesome moment. After that, the whole bussiness of arriving in that island to repair the boat and fighting again the pirates -but this time they're ghost!- was ok but not great. I really wish they reach Elfhelm already!! I want to know if Casca is gonna get well or no and how the story advances beyond that.

And im not happy with what Miura said about the story being 70% finished, because i have the horrible feeling that hes going to let a lot of unanswered questions... Like never really telling us about the Knight skull's past/origin... or i would like to know more about the apostles. How did they get to be like that and so.

So are we really at one volume a year now?? 4 Years ago I had up to vol 33 scanlated, and now were are just seeing 35 come out here? I bet Miura dies before he finishes.

And I think we will probably have to wait for a spin-off to hear about the Knight Skull's origin and past, or he will end up being Gatsu's dad or some stupid shit like that. Or the "first" sacrifice to escape...

I love the series, but finish it already!

shit. and that's with love+/idolmaster games coming out still, good for him! :???:

got some catching up to do. i love when that happens, shame i gotta basically forget about the book for 6+ months though.

My biggest problem is that it doesn't even feel like he's anyway near done in terms of the narrative. If things felt like they were wrapping up, I'd be like "okay, ten to fifteen more volumes, I could see that." My biggest fear is that it will just end with a whimper, or feel really sudden.

Of course, we have to consider the time factor also...if he's 70% done, that means he's thinking it's going to be about 50 volumes total. At his current rate of production, it'll be another 14 years before he finishes!

On a less depressing note:

For those of you who don't know Figma is a numbered imprint of figures (by MAX FACTORY I believe) similar to Kaiyodo's Revoltech line. While Revoltech's line is comprised mostly of Giant Robots (awesome!!), Figma's line, while equal in quality, is primarily girls in school uniforms, vocaloid programs, Japanese baseball mascots, and porn stars. Despite this, I've got a few figs from this line and they are really great quality!

Consider my surprise when I saw the LATEST in the Figma line:

guts_figma_hwiow.jpg

Figma Guts figure!! Got mine on pre-order already!! Can't wait!

The Figma line usually comes with multiple faces, hands, accessories and are super pose-able. Everyone I've gotten has come with a clear positionable holder so you can get some really dynamic stances.

Saw that already a couple of weeks ago. I dont know, you can call me a prefectionist -or simply a whiny bitch- but, the way the armor is sitting looks kinda funny/odd. Maybe if i see it in person im going to buy without even thinking, but i need a little more convincing.

And yeah, we all fear that Miura is going to die before finishing Berserk... Or that he is going to give it a poor finish due to tiredness.

Anyone up to date with all the chapters released? Because shit is finally moving forward. After a mini-arc about Rickert, Guts and company have finally, after 8 years of being on that boat, reached Elf Island!!! So, i'm really excited to see what happens next. The art as always is breathtaking.
