Reverend Jax
Saw the midnight screening last night. This is now my favorite Potter movie. Sure, they have to cut out more than any book before it, and I still think two movies (Kill Bill style) would have done the books real justice, but everything this movie did it did exactly right. Those ever important many scenes that makes Goblet arguably the best HP book are invision ont eh scene almost exactly as I saw them in my head. The grand epic moments were awesome, the smaller adolesent moments were the best yet. Emma Thompson is getting mighty cute, Mad-Eye Moody has been the best interpretted Defense Against The Dark Arts Teacher yet. I will be seeing this one again. I haven't hecked out the Rotten Tomato rating yet, but it better be at least 90%.

Lycaon
Just in case there are those who haven't read the book on this thread... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Gotta love a movie that has "No dragons were hurt in the making of this movie" in the credits. It was most definately good, (Movie spoiler) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « although honestly I was a bit disapointed about the absence of Dobby and Winky, not to mention the lack of revelations about Hagrid 's ancestry and Rita Skeeter's secret. MetalHeart
I found it quite enjoyable. Before you all hurl things at me, I will say I haven't read the books (or not yet, at least). But it was pretty awesome! My only beef was that a few scenes cut into eachother without much transition so a bit of confusion happened, but then again that's not saying much since I haven't read the books. I give it 4 out of 5 MH's.

You really should read the books, though (although watching the movies before reading the books probably helps to enjoy the movies more).

MetalHeart
A friend of mine who loooooves Harry Potter and works at a movie theater reviewed the movie in her Livejournal. Thought I would share: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I'm gonna get straight to the point. I saw Harry Potter three times yesterday. My love for this movie can be summed up in two words: Gred and Forge. My disappointment in this movie and be summed up in one: Sirius. :( All in all, the movie was cut really horribly. Things were missing that were needed, yadda yadda. I'm really really happy that finally, after PoA Fred and George are actually getting screentime. I guess the writers needed a buildup to OotP for them? Gred and Forge, Gred and Forge. Sirius. Sigh. How I miss you. Your scene was far too short and I didn't even get to see your face. Indeed, the Snuffles scene in Hogsmeade was a wise movie cut and your lines were given to Dumbledore, but you were cheated out of the ending. Enough said. And then of course in OotP.... Sigh. JK hates me. Snape, I've always hated you in the books and the movies just made me neutral on you. But, alas, I kind of love you now. "Veritaserum. Its... retgretablyforbidden, however...." Dumbledore didn't seem right in this one. When Harry first goes into the trophy room after his name came out of the Goblet? And Dumbledore ran right up to him and started shouting. In the book, he was quiet, contained, but visibly stressed. The whole movie was like this. It really irritated me after his success in PoA. Rita Skeeter is a whore. But she was well played indeed. Cedric. Oh Cedric. If you hadn't died you might have lived on to marry Clay Aiken. I had to point out to one of my fellow slash fans that Cedric was lying in one of his boy friend's laps during one scene. I'll hope you all caught that. Voldemort. Its a shame that a man so hot isn't allowed to have a nose in this film. For some reason I hated the way his fingers were. Like, he wouldn't curl them around his wand when ever he took it from Wormtail. He just held it in the crook of his thumb and forefinger. It just bothered me. I LOVELOVELOVE the Yule Ball scene. In the book I thought it was boring and not really worth it, but in the movie it was awesome. It was great how the opening song was the nice instrumental piece and everyone is dancing nice and proper. AND THEN ONE COMES THE WEIRD SISTERS WHO AREN'T REALLY CHICKS BUT THEY SOUND COOL ANYWAY. I loved seeing everyone on the dancefloor rocking out and having a great time. I want to go to a Hogwarts Yule Ball plzkthx. Hermione crying over Ron made me smile... in a weird way. Holy crap, they made Ginny really funny! I'm really glad they made her come out of her shell in this one, considering what she's up for in book six. All things considered, it just might be my favorite movie. Even over PoA. And thus begins my weekend of hell.
Aartemys
Just came home from watching it....I love, love, loved it! Nose or not, RAY FIENNES IS HOT! Great casting, IMO... Yes, the scenes sometimes jumped a bit too much for my taste, but like Jax said, it came out just like I imagined it. I just might swing by and watch it again soon... Awesome... 9 out of 10 Aarty's...

Reverend Jax
A 102.3 million dollar opening weekend. I guess Thankgiving is the time for Harry Potter movies. PoA didn't do that will int eh summer.
King of Snake
Very, very good rather than totally, totally awesome, I found the 3 trials kinda got progressively less exciting and after the big scene of the movie that the ending revelation kinda fizzles out a bit. All in all entertaining and easy enough to get into considering I'd only ever kinda half watched the first movie and never read the books.
Heartlessbitch
I really liked it, it was pretty dark tho (scary for kids) I like how they are also developing them as adolescence rears its ugly head. but why did the Indian girls get moded? typical.. they can't portray us on screen unless we're wearing a damn sari. whiterasta
I saw it today, and liked it well enough. Probably the best Potter movie yet. And damn Emma Watson is looking fine Not to mention those french chicks...
IguanaDon?
yeah, I heard something about dodgey looking Mermaids. In a scary sort've way. I'll have to look into that.

KaraSwims
Yeah I liked it too....drug Adam to see it too! It was action packed-those water things were scary...thought a few things seemed a little fragmented especially if you hadn't read the book: Hagrid's relationship with the other headmistress-the complete lack of any class work or school in general-and yeah the last scene seemed so short compared to the length in the book.....but then again it could never be as good as the books :-) I liked it...not loved but it was ayyight. defgoddess
but why did the Indian girls get moded? typical.. they can't portray us on screen unless we're wearing a damn sari. lol what leah come on you'd rather them wear the ugly dresses a lot of the other chicks were wearing? there were probably other ones dressed 'normally'--if you will--in any case i thought they looked a lot prettier than some of the other outfits. oh and i've seen this twice now. we'll see if there's another time coming up. i don't give a shit what anyone says about the movie, yes, i did read the book, twice. of course i would've liked more stuff from the book in, especially with sirius and the whole end of it, but overall it was so good. the end. Only for the ball though, right? I imagine if a bunch of 14 year olds are going to a fancy ball, most of them will get there fancy clothes from their parents (liek Ron did). Seemed reasonable to me.
