bishopcruz
Well, as some of you may know me and gunsmith are working on a company to bring over some asian PC games over to the US, in no way is anything official yet but I wanted to get reactions on a couple of these games. First off are a few movies. Let a brother know what you think of them, and which ones you like best. Final question is how much would you pay more, less, or the same amount, as current prices of PC games. Heroine Anthem I Heroine Anthem II Xanadu Next Legend of Heroes VI Gurumin Thanks for the help Hondonians. edit: added some photos, remember click on the links for the movies. Senshik
I can't see any of the links... But your idea sounds awesome. I definitely want to help you out with my opinion on this! RPG's make our world's go round.
bishopcruz
Hmm, I don't know it it would be possible to link these movies directly on Hondo's though that would probably make life easier, anyone else having trouble with the links? I thought I had tested them as working. Odd. I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can.
The NZA
link for the 1st one worked fine for me - that was PS2? I liked what i saw, visuals were good and the soundtrack alone got me interested (celtic + strings), combat system took me a minute to figure it more traditoinal than strategy game, and the concept of a female protagonist isnt one ive seen done right since FFVI, so im curious, it got my interest. Ima go check out more links. Generally speaking, what would the requirements be for such games? My PC isnt built to play, so that'd be a factor for me, personally. PS if i just watched Heorine Anthem, why dont the pics below it look the same style? Man, the 2nd installment looked way better....youve played through this series, bishop? How do plot/dialogue hold up, and is the engine tradtional RPG or otherwise? The point-and-click setup for exploing looked interesting, and the cineamtics/action scenes looked really exciting, tooo...shame this series didnt get more US attention, apparently. But you think there's a decent market for translated/imported console RPGs on PC?

But you think there's a decent market for translated/imported console RPGs on PC? Well that's what I'm betting on, thing is I can't think of one exclusive game of this type that has been on the PC in at least 20 years. So, that's why I am guaging people's reactions. All of these games are PC games, and I've played some of them. Gurumin is a lot of fun, and Legend of Heroes is also friggen sweet. Heroine Anthem has pretty amazing buzz from anyone who has played it. It's a chinese game, so I can't personally speak for the plot but I know it did win a buncha game of the year awards in China and Taiwan. I personally love the fact that it is 2d though. Heroine Anthem 1 and 2 are each half of a story. Buzz has been great on it. As far as the requirements, they are pretty low, as the average power of PCs and 3d cards in these markets lags behind us quite a bit. Pretty much if you can run Windows XP you can run these. I mean Xanadu Next is the most recent of these, and it's minimums are 1 GB of HD space, a P-III 866, 256 megs of Ram and a 32 meg graphics card. The Recommendations aren't much higher than that. So most people with a low-to-mid range PC should be fine. And as I said that was the one with the most reqs. PS if i just watched Heorine Anthem, why dont the pics below it look the same style? Dunno what you mean, could you elaborate on that a bit?

The NZA
no, nevermind, art style looked different till i saw part 2 of the series, then it fit. Yeah, i was figuring requirements woudlnt be bad....if you took off with this, we could always try to advertise on RPGamer and such sites too...how serious are you and gunsmith, how much have you looked into it? Lycaon
I liked all of them, but my computer tends to not get much game use (mostly 'cause it sucks and is in need of replacement, and money). I tend to play more console games than computer ones, due to this. Would you mind if I shared this thread with others (via AIM, livejournal, etc)? bishopcruz
That's cool and all, just trying to keep things on the down low while I'm in the planning stages. We're getting towards a point where we're almost done with the business plan. FIU has a competition for new businesses, if we win that we get $15,000 towards the business. Which would be a great starting point. Once everything is in order, it's going to be time to pitch investors and all. So we're still a ways away from doing it, but I am comitted to getting it done. So comitted I am over at my mother's trying to haswh out the financials as we speak. I've been contacting a bunch of companies getting ad rates. Too much to get into here. But until everything is final, this is strictly a hypothetical. So, just make sure that anyone who goes over this poll realizes that, we're cool. Acalis
The dialogue screens from Heroine Anthem I & II kinda remind me of the dialogue screens from Chrono Cross, where they showed a closeup of the person's face on one side of the dialogue box and what they said on the other. bishopcruz
DId rather well in the competiition I entered, but getting financing together, as well as trying to broker the deals across the sea didn't work out. Kind of a shame, the idea and the business plan still live on, but it is on hold for now. On the bright side Gurumin, one of the games I was looking at is coming out for PSP in the US.
