BigChiefSlapaho Posted February 13, 2002 Posted February 13, 2002 OS Good little topic. Perhaps Bill will have to rethink his ways. Quote
The NZA Posted February 13, 2002 Posted February 13, 2002 Sounds safer, but where's the customization? These things are important! Keep hearin rumors of a new OS to rival MS, that'd be cool. This one looks to be mostly a network thing tho, right? More when i finish the article. Quote
BigChiefSlapaho Posted February 14, 2002 Author Posted February 14, 2002 yeah, you're right, but there's actually 3 or 4 of them mentioned there. The first one regards an OS that supports non-centralized seamless networking... meaning no servers, just one big daisy chain of computers with each their own encryption & protection. The OS has better security features so as to automatically stop hacker attacks. Pretty phat. But it's scaled for a much larger professional network of, say, 16000 computers or so. The other one I liked was IBM's & the second one mentioned there. They talk about complete scalability not based on your system, but rather what your program demands. So, you need 100MBPS... it will give you 100MBPS, no bitching. The IBM one is already being tested to operate cars, there's an article on that on MSNBC. Quote
