Jables Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Picked up Dead Rising yesterday & have yet to give it a real shot. You do that Newt. Meanwhile, I gave this a semi-real shot, or at least as real a shot as I could give it- and it SUCKED. Quote
Jables Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Hey Newt, what's that fable title with the 360 header on it? Quote
Newtype Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Beh. Any word on Fable 2 anyone? Nope. Just like to point out that Nick has about 10 of my games. The only thing thats stopping from buying more right now is that I have to pay bills. Quote

The NZA Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 jesus, youve got some rare gems there (soinc and the secret rings though, really?), but you forgot Rez on PS2 m'man. funny that you seem to've purposely left FF VII out, heh. oh, and i didnt know Mario Galaxy went that high. Quote
Maldron Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Hey, I enjoyed Sonic and the Secret Rings. Better than most other new Sonic games, at the least. Not sure where you got Mario Galaxy from, I don't remember writing it and I certainly don't own it. I left out Rez because I bought it for you, you lazy louse, and as such is not technically part of my collection. You still have yet to get back to me on that one to any degree. However, I'm more than willing to keep it. It was fun, the music's neat, and you technically have the HD version anyway. And I thought I made it clear to you earlier - Never played VII. I would have thought the fact I didn't own it would've followed from that point. :p Quote
The NZA Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 i said "mario galaxy" while talking to sen cause i was thinking it odd you didnt have that one, i meant to say 'wild ARMs", oddly. Yeah, Rez is on hold good sir, in a month or two i may have enough moneyhats for everyone, so uh, keep abiding me. Sonic Rings is only enjoyable if you compare it to any Sonic game after Sonic Adventure 2 which are attrocities anyway, and uh, if youve a link to that kotaku thread where we put up pictures of our gaming rooms, could you post it? i wanted to link mine here, totally forgot. Quote
Maldron Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Have you been reminded of how useless you are today? *Sigh* http://kotaku.com/photogallery/unitedstateswp/1000538820 There. You totally suck, by the way. Quote
The NZA Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 There it is! youre good at this game, arch-nemesis. and somebody's mad he didnt submit his game room in time. Quote
Lycaon Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Beh. Any word on Fable 2 anyone? Saw a teaser a while back. Quote
Maldron Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 *sigh* It was your dream to get into it, not mine. And I'm angry because I had to do the legwork with the Kotaku Search engine, which took me three minutes. Three minutes you could've probably done by yourself. Keep this up and I'll retain Rez out of spite. Delicious, rhythmical spite. Quote
The NZA Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 While i appreciate your efforts (i took 5+ and found fuckall), im lost at why a man would index and show off his collection, but not in picture format! dont make me dig up my PS3 pic archives. i know its on there somewhere. Quote

Jables Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I gotta get a newt-type shot of my collection post-credit card. Noone takes photos anymore. Quote
Iambaytor Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Well it occurs to me I've not posted my collection yet. Playstation: Final Fantasy 7 - Mostly overrated and no where near as good as the vastly greater Final Fantasy 6 for the SNES. But bad character design, overly "meh" storytelling, and gray haired leather clad "smoldering with generic rage" bad guys aside it's still fun and I'm on the last disk just trying desperately to earn the Knights of the Round materia and Cloud's Omnislash. Final Fantasy 8 - I don't know what happened to Square after they moved up to the Playstation but they just lost their characterization skills. The entire cast of 8 didn't measure up to the quality of even bad characters like Relm or Gogo in 6. The best one in the game is Seifer who we get for like 10 minutes and never see again and aside from that Quistis and Irvine are most exciting and let's face it they're pretty dull themselves. Final Fantasy 9 - The last great Final Fantasy game before they went onto exsclusively this whole new cyberpunk bullshit that they seem to have stayed on. The last time I saw a truly brilliant cast of characters (sans maybe Quina) in a Final Fantasy game that seemed to work interact well with one-another. Reminded me of the older games in the series and let me fantasize about better times. Final Fantasy Tactics - Haven't gotten around to playing it. Breath of Fire 3 - I miss this series, the first two games on the SNES were brilliant and this one is even better than the last two. With a great cast of characters (except Peco, he can fuck right the hell off), an amazing storyline, and the same fun and interesting gameplay Breath of Fire has always been known for. This game was far better than Final Fantasy 7 (especially graphics-wise) and deserved all the credit and love that that game got Revolution X - I got this for free, I want my money back. If I didn't like Aerosmith before, I really won't like it now. It's a piece of shit rail shooter where they have two animations, yellow guy shooting and yellow guy dying. Silent Hill - The original game in the series, still the scariest fucking game ever made even though none of the enemies are really that terrifying when you actually get a good look at them. This is the greatest survival horror game ever. Clock Tower 2: The Struggle Within - I haven't played it. I bought it because I played the original Clock Tower via an SNES ROM (anybody wants it let me know) it was like a LucasArts point and click adventure meets one of the scariest survival horror games I've ever played. You have no weapons, your character is a teenage girl whose only defense is pushing the main enemy over and running past him to find a good hiding spot when cornered. Clock Tower 2 looks kind of poorly done but maybe I'll be surprised and like it as much as the original. Soul Blade - The original game in the "Soul" series back before Soul Calibur. It's fun but after playing the Calibur games it does seem a bit dumbed down. Tekken 2 - Still just as much fun as it was ages ago, though now it's not stealing my quarters. Every now and then I pop it in and revel in its nostalgia. Einhander - A side-scrolling spaceship shooting game made by Squaresoft. On easy mode this game beats you mercilessly, on hard it beats you to a pulp, sets you on fire, and pisses on the ashes. Yet strangely it's still incredibly fun. Twisted Metal 2 - Another lost classic, I could play this game for ages it's still so endlessly fun. Twisted Metal 3 - A stinking pile of shit bearing the name of a once great series of games. Twisted Metal 4 - Kinda splits the difference between 2 and 3, it's not bad but it's not great either. Tiny Tank - A true lost classic. A foul-mouthed anthropomorphic tank with a penchant for quoting Dirty Harry and John Wayne tries to save the world from a score of evil robots. The gameplay is fun and inventive and it's a shame it was never popular enough to make a sequel. Gauntlet Legends - It's the poor man's Diablo, pure and simple. But it's a fun game to play with a group of friends, just boring as hell to play by yourself. Playstation 2 Half-Life - A nice little find for the Playstation 2. Half-Life complete with Deathmatch and the bonus two-player game Decay. It works surprisingly well for a console shooter, the controls are tight and it has an auto aim feature for incompetent people who just haven't mastered that mouse-to-analog stick transition. Plus it's Half-Life, so naturally it's great. Unreal Tournament - A bit less user-friendly than its PC counterpart it's still tons of fun with improved graphics and new levels and enemies. Comes complete with build in Mutators and hidden levels. The Punisher - Fun yet challenging it's a decent game, plenty of cameos by other Marvel characters and challenging and interesting gameplay. Though it does get repetitive and sometimes very tediously hard. Gun - This is one of the best made games I have ever played. It is fun and intuitive and interesting, it's got voice acting by Thomas Jane, Kris Kristofferson, Brad Dourif, Ron Perlman, and Lance Henrickson, great controls, fun challenges and gun battles, lots of weapons to choose from. Yes why if it was more than 5 hours long it would be perfect. This game is criminally short and that hurts it a lot. I'm still hoping that one day we'll see a sequel. Giants: Citizen Kabuto - Digital Mayhem studios, makers of MDK made this little gem of a game. You play as one of 3 characters and 3 unique game styles. You start out as the Meccaryans, a group of cockney speaking heavily armored commandos with jetpacks who crash landed on the planet, as them you enjoy a great 3rd person shooter with lots of interesting weapons and bombs. Delphi one of the creatures called Reapers who uses magic and a bow and scimitar and it works as a sort of base-building strategy game. Then as the giant Kabuto you pretty much just smash everything in sight. This game is a lost classic and far better than MDK. MDK 2 Armageddon - Played a little bit, wasn't too excited about it but I'll give it another go someday. Grand Theft Auto 3 - The best game in the series, the gameplay was simplistic compared to the others but that worked more for it than against it. This game had a charm all its own and the best story and protagonist of the series. Simplistic as it was it's the only one I truly enjoy going back to and playing all the way through over and over again. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - It was okay, but I prefer the gritty darker feel of 3 to the sunny cheeriness of Vice City. The storyline was okay and I really don't like Tommy Vercetti. The city of Vice City itself also seems to lack the character that Liberty City had. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - A vast improvement over Vice City and a return to form in many cases to the original GTA 3. You could do just about anything and everything you wanted to, but the Gangsta theme gets pretty tired (and you can even see that the developers are tired of it as they abandond it a third of the way through the game) and Carl Johnson is a bit of a whiny bitch. Still lots of fun. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories - Coming back to Liberty City is like returning home for the series. It's just as much fun as it was and more. It feels like a true follow-up to GTA 3 and it never ceases to be fun or enjoyable. Grant Theft Auto: Vice City Stories - It's better than Vice City but it's still very lacking. There are new types of gameplay and it is fun and intersting, some of the characters are just as interesting as it once was. But in a way it's still tiresome and not one of the series' better games. Mafia - A GTA-type sandbox game taking place in the 1920s and 1930s New York City. You play as Tommy Angelo a cabbie who rises up to become a powerful Mafioso. This game is fun but it's got a huge difficulty curve, many of the missions you do, particularly ones later in the game you will end up repeating several times over and over again. It gets tired but all in all is a good game. Bully - It's Grand Theft Auto in High School. It never ceases to be fun, even the classless you take in the form of mini-games are fairly fun. What it does fail to be is hard, this game at its hardest is mildly challenging and it feels a bit dumbed down in spots but it's still another great game pumped out by Rock Star. Silent Hill 2 - Haven't played it yet but it's next on the lilst. Resident Evil 4 - From what I played I really enjoyed it, but I haven't gotten very far. Siren - Haven't played it yet. The Thing - Truly great survival-horror game, like Half-Life in 3rd person. It may have even been based on the same engine. Focuses more on the survival aspect of the game and less on finding keys and statues that are shaped like things. Evil Dead: A Fistfull of Boomstick - Made on the State of Emergency engine, this game is just as monotonous as that one but being Evil Dead and your main character being Ash it's a hell of a lot more fun. Though keeping track and finding more ammunition is tiring and the gameplay is repetitive and often times just terribly boring. Evil Dead: Regeneration - Well apparently someone listend when I complained that hunting down ammunition was tiring in Evil Dead: Fistfull of Boomstick and Hail to the King because all the weapons in this game require no ammo. This is not necessarily a bad thing as I found far more enjoyment in just being able to indiscriminately mow down wave after wave of deadite with no cares. Gameplay and graphics are both vastly improved and the addition of Sam the half deadite midget make things more entertaining and fun. However there's a lot of overused gameplay in certain spots and it gets tiring to do mindless fetching quests over and over again. Still lots of fun and the best Evil Dead game to date. Onimusha - Haven't played it yet. Manhunt - The first two or three hours of this game suck ass but it picks up mid-way and remains fun until the end. Manhunt 2 - It's a lot shorter than the first one but it picks up the action more quickly and starts off being a hell of a lot more fun. Though a lot of the missions are long and pointless and overall it pales in comparison to the original but it's still a worthwhile sequel and a lot of fun. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Haven't played it yet. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - Haven't played it yet. The Great Escape - Based on the movie, though Steve McQueen was the only likeness they seemed to be able to get. The shooting sections are long and seem pretty unnecessary as the movie had absolutely no killing done by the main characters in the movie. But it's still a challenging bit of fun and a vastly underrated game. Lupin the 3rd: Treasure of the Sorcerer King - I want to love this game so much. I enjoyed Lupin the 3rd immensely and the game does start out seeming like a lot of fun. There's a of fun sneaking past guards, finding hiding places, and using disguises. The problem is the shooting sections of the game are no fun at all, they're tedious, annoying and wholly unnecessary. But they're passable if nothing more than for a way to get to the next stealth section, the problem is about 2-3 hours from the end of the game it becomes nothing but these horrible action sequences and you're stuck with fighting missions till the lackluster end. God of War - Brilliant hack and slash game with tight controls and incredibly fun and challenging boss battles (all 3 of them) God of War 2 - Great game, as fun as the original. Though it's noticeably less dark than the original, it doesn't have the same feel to it as that one did which at times feels a bit strange. It does have a cool little feature of fighting against Perseus voiced by none other than Clash of the Titans' own Harry Hamlin himself. Spider-Man 2 - Story mode is a lot of fun but everything besides that is kind of boring. Ultimate Spider-Man - Criminally short and suffers from a lot of the same problems as Spider-Man 2. Beyond Good and Evil - A great and vastly underrated stealth/platformer game that deserves all of the praise it gets from those few people who played it. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - It's not hard to figure out that the Crash Bandicoot people made this game. It's fun but incredibly difficult and at times nigh-impossible to complete. Jak 2 - Much better than Jak and Daxter with the addition of weapons and Grand Theft Auto-like vehicle gameplay. It has a lot more interesting characters and storyline as well as better gameplay. Psychonauts - A well made and way too short platformer game with a great sense of humor and amazing graphics. Its only problem as that the game's difficulty goes from from easy to insanely hard toward the end with no warning. This is still one of the best games ever made. Tekken 5 - Like Tekken 2 with better graphics. This game is probably the best in the series so far and has a great group of characters to pick from. However the final boss is a cheap bastard, worse than the one in Dead Or Alive 4. We also finally get to play as Devil Jin Kazama. Celebrity Deathmatch - Repetitive and not that great a fighting game it's still good for gatherings with friends. Soul Calibur 2 - One of the greatest fighting games of all time, it's easy to learn making it friendly for all types of gamers. Escape From Monkey Island - The final chapter of the Monkey Island series and a brilliant send-off, making reference to all of the old games as well as providing the same great game play we've come to know and love. My only complaint is the Monkey Kombat mini game that takes up the bulk of the end of the game was tedious and kind of annoying. Indigo Prophecy - A great adventure game with a bizarre story but fun gameplay. However the simon button mashing challenges are a bit overused at times, I can understand using them to do fight scenes or even play basketball, but is it too much to just be able to watch a cutscene with nothing but talking so I can pay attention to what's going on, not the buttons? Final Fantasy 10 - Far too linear but some of the characters are well done even though there's only 3 or 4 worth using. Gameplay is fun and it's the same old Final Fantasy, not the best but still good. Kingdom Hearts - I despised this game until after I completed Tarzan's world, then I liked it a lot. I just wish I could've kept Jack Skellington the whole time. Kingdom Hearts 2 - Haven't gotten very far, I'm having a hard time caring enough to get past Roxxas' section. X-Men Legends 2:Rise of Apocalypse - It was fun for a while but it kind of tailed off a bit about halfway through and got repetitive. I may pick it up one day and finish it, but at the moment I'm not feeling it. Burnout 3: Takedown - My favorite racing game of all time, my only complaint is it's far too easy to wreck yourself. Twisted Metal: Black Fun and fast paced, but I didn't like the darker tone. I preferred the old black humored Twisted Metal storyline to the new "look at me I'm so tragic" dark for the sake of being dark storyline. Here's to hoping Head-On will be all I want it to be. Rampage: Total Destruction - Another game that's fun to play with your friends and nothing else. Guitar Hero - I am ashamed to admit I still have not beat this on anything more than medium. PC WarCraft 2: Tides of Darkness/Beyond the Dark Portal - the first real time strategy game I ever played. It holds a place in my heart and I still love it to this day. WarCraft 3: Reign of Chaos/The Frozen Throne - I followed this game through every step of development and I love every bit of it. The gameplay was surprisingly easy even at its hardest but I still found it lots of fun even with the addition of RPG-like elements. StarCraft/Brood War - The greatest Real-time strategy game ever made. Still as fun today as it ever was and I have no doubt that even when the sequel come out this one will still be just as fun. Half-Life/Opposing Force/Blue Shift - It's Half-Life and it's still incredibly fun in all 3 of these games and even though I've been spoiled by Half-Life 2 I still enjoy the hell out of it. Age of Empires/Rise of Rome - An old classic that I still enjoy playing through from time to time, though it's very dated and simple in comparison to any RTS game since. Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings/The Conquerers My favorite of the Age of Empires series though I have not yet played 3. It's well made and fun to replay over and over again. Dungeon Keeper - A game where you play the owner of a dungeon of evil minions and try to thwart the heroes who come in looking to destroy you. It's very challenging but also lots of fun and the gameplay is very unique and hasn't really been done since. Dungeon Keeper 2 - Made after Peter Molyneux left Bullfrog and it was invaded EAvildoers this game is noticeably lacking in comparison to the original. Though some gameplay aspects have been improved upon others are needlessly missing and some of my favorite monsters don't return are replaced with ones I don't like. Spider-Man - Looking back this game seems very simplistic and cheesy but at the time it was the coolest thing ever. I still enjoy it from time to time but its hard to go back to this when I have the likes of Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man sitting on my shelf. Lemmings - A classic puzzle game with little white people with green hair that do your bidding. Your mission is to get a group of lemmings from the entrance to the exit with minimal casualties, the problem is these little freaks die incredibly easy and aren't very smart so have to be on constant watch to protect them. Doom: Collector's Additon - It's amazing that I can brave Bioshock, the Half-Life games, Wolftenstein, Halo, Unreal Torunament, and Quake without batting an eye but I go back to this game and it still scares the living shit out of me as it used to. This collection includes Doom, Doom 2, and Final doom which are all essentially the same game. Gameboy Color Tetris - One of the greatest games ever made. Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Quite possibly my favorite game except for maybe Star Kirby Super Adventures. Pok'emon Gold - I am unashamed of my love for this game. It's a fun RPG and I enjoy it more now than I did as a kid. Quote
