The NZA Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 So LL insisted i watch this horror movie with Rogue in it, and im glad i did. I feel like i watched a totally different film from those 238 fucks on amazon, though. It says: you know what, fuck that, their review spoils a bit much. Its a supernatural horror in Spain. I dont get why others seem to find it confusing at all, its pretty clear by its end, but it has some really Silent Hill moments and some nasty twsits before its done, and more than a few things in common (at times) with The Shining, japanese horror like Ju-On, etc and there's nothing wrong with that cause those are good films. For a no-namer horror film, i really dug it, and kinda wanna watch it again...its not revolutionary, there's some scripting stuff here & there, im not sure if the pacing was perfect or direction, but by horror standards, this was way cooler than it looked, especially the last half hour or so. Honestly, the supernatural gets under most people's skin more than slash flicks, and this one has its moments where it does just that.
La Lindsay Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 yaaaayyy!!!! and make sure to get the unrated version because i heard they chopped the hell out of the american release to get a PG-13 rating. i want to watch another film by the same director called the fragile or fragile with calista flockhart (i guess it came out last year internationally). i read that the main scary element in it is scary as fuck (machine girl or something like that). anyway, there's also one more scary movie i want to see that's from england(?) about some friends who go camping in a cave or something like that. i heard it's really scary. w00t w00t! fin.
Iambaytor Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I don't know about Fragile but I think the cave one you're speaking of is called The Descent and it's coming out in America here in a few months www.houseofhorrors.com (it's on there somewhere, just click on crypt) I really thought the Darkness would be a piece of shit, I'll have to see it now, though I'm not a huge fan of Ana Paquin as an actress (Though she looks good in a leather jumpsuit with a strip of white hair) I'll have to check this out. Oh, out of curiosity Nick, did you ever go see Slither?
APANCHALYPSE NOW Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Mike and I saw Darkness last night (thanks Lindsay) and we both agree... it sucked! Well, it didn't suck, but it just didn't move at a fast enough pace! Most of the actting was crap and the camera "tricks" wheren't that good! The story was cool and like Nick said, the last 30 minutes was intense, but there just wasn't enough of it! Rogue was cool, but not one I'd go out and buy! Sorry! Oh, and Slither... Crappy crap!
The NZA Posted May 27, 2006 Author Posted May 27, 2006 yeah, i tried makin that joke too dont listen to ! he recommended The hills have shit, and his brother loves Master of Disguise! im not lying here. Listen to me, cause i once had us all go see The Postman Ive said before that most moviegoers forgive all kindsa shit for a good ending; i totally did that here. Was talkin to Panch earlier, and he's right, there's plotholes, bad camera work, some shit acting from the mom-lady, sketchiness about, but honestly, i love what the last 20 or so minutes did enough to have forgotten about alla that. I thought this film woudl wuss out and it didnt and i really dug it for that. I now wanna see the other ones LL's talkin bout, as well as Skeleton Key. Baytor: sorry man, LL went to Slitehr without me, here's to catching it soon as Isohunt has it up.
The NZA Posted May 28, 2006 Author Posted May 28, 2006 shit. can you go check isohunt and mininova for Fragile, Slither, and that one Panch mentioned, the Hong Kong one? i forget its name...
The NZA Posted May 28, 2006 Author Posted May 28, 2006 R-point? that game was awesome! i dont know how good a movie about it'd be though, unless it has that alien thing on the right with all the eyeballs.
Iambaytor Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 yeah, i tried makin that joke tooI now wanna see the other ones LL's talkin bout, as well as Skeleton Key. Baytor: sorry man, LL went to Slitehr without me, here's to catching it soon as Isohunt has it up. My ex always raved about Skeleton Key, and she usually had a good taste in horror movies, I haven't seen it myself. And you're lucky because Slither just happens to be coming out sooon and it looks to be one of the best DVDs ever.
La Lindsay Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 i think skeleton key was good for me because it was better than i thought it would be.
Reverend Jax Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Nick saw Batman & Robin in the theaters twice in one day. If you want to take his recommends, keep that in mind.
The NZA Posted June 4, 2006 Author Posted June 4, 2006 that's totally taken out of context. I saw it the first time, like millions of others, cause it was a bat-film. I was lucky enough to see Face-Off after that as a double-header. Later, a date wanted to see Bats, and again, i justify this atrocity by any play i got offa her after the movie, though i again stand by it not being worth it. Also, my Postman recommendation to my cutler ridge group is less than one year shy of being forgiven (as it hits the 10 year mark), much like bankrupcy. Youre looking at an otherwise pristine record of pimping Boondock Saints, American Beauty, Fight Club, and such - my record is otherwise pristine. LL - you seemed to really dig Fragile, do a review when you can.
The NZA Posted June 5, 2006 Author Posted June 5, 2006 i never once recommended that shit, that was all TopDawg. dammit, these're 2 quality horror flicks, one that LL has on DVD, the other on PC...i can post torrents, tho.
Reverend Jax Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Well, I actually saw Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood (on DVD, nto in theaters) in a vain attempt to bag a girl. Dead end their. And I actually saw The Brothers Grimm with a girl. I had already slept with her, but I got to sleep with her for several weeks after that, and that was my goal, so I chalk that one up as a victory, but I don't credit the movie for doing anythign for me. There is one movie I did watch with a girl that we started watching it without her having any intentions with me, by the end of the movie we were making out, and my the end of the night we were fucking: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « That is one of my favorite movies, but I'll be honest, it climbed a few notches after that night. I have a sneaking suspucion Eternal Sunshine would do a nice job too....
the division of joy Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 R-point? that game was awesome! i dont know how good a movie about it'd be though, unless it has that alien thing on the right with all the eyeballs. that reminds me of metroid.... it would be fuckin awesome if they translated it over onto a movie.... gotta wonder who they'd get to play the chick in it
