Newtype Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Found out a few days ago that there's an anime con going on at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming on Tamiami Trail. It's on the 12th and 13th of August. So you have anime, booze, and gambling going on in the same place. What more can you want. Plus you don't have to pay for parking or entrance it's all free. I think they still have the Steak and Lobster special for $7. Which is great if your on a budget. If anybody up for it let me know. An if MH is reading this would you like to go while your down here.Yasumicon
Drifter Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 It's my old Anime Club from FIU that's throwing this event. I have no idea what the hell they were thinking when they decided to go with Miccosukee. I was suppose to run a panel this year but I haven't heard from them for half a year now and no one I know of who started this Con years ago cares anymore. Ask Bishop and Gunsmith, they know.
Reverend Jax Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Anything Goes Anime is hosting a con at Micosukee? Man, when I first went to anime night it was like int heir 2nd year and it seemed like every week they were scrambling to get a room with a projector. How far they've come.
Drifter Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Not really, same mess, now just extrapolated to the extreme.
Reverend Jax Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Ahh, bitter that they don't want you in their club no mo?
Drifter Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I can always go, they just don't show anything I want to see, some of the new stuff just isn't interesting anymore. I'm just sad at the mess it turned into, all the organization in the hands of one or two people and when they move on it'll be another big mess.
The NZA Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Yeah, spiffy and i got into this club early on, never got to know the inner circle like bishop, drifter and gunsmith did, was just greatful to see some good anime they showed back then for free (during the scramble-for-a-room days). I thin i left a while after they finally stoped showing never-ending Marmalade Boy. Im busted for the next 2 and a half weeks, gotta clear rent and get one more check before i can do much of anything. might be sometime around the con, so if we got a good group, ill try to check it out - someone outta PM this thread to Panch.
Senshik Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 wtf!?!?! How the hell did I miss this?!?!?!?!?
The NZA Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 i tend to not bring these things up as much while were broke, love.
Senshik Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 how dare you. HOw dare you. Back then i still had financial aid moneys, we could've gone! don't EVER make decisions without me again.
The NZA Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 no, this was one of the weeks i borrowed a twenty offa lindsay to not bounce any more checks than i had to... we'll always have megacon
Jumbie Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Hell yeah! Fuckin Anything Goes Anime club! Man, sometimes I think that just those Thursday nights watching witches fight aliens and boys turn into girls when they got wet and giant robots wrecking cities was worth all my FIU tuition. Don't worry Senshik. There's always next year's con...
Senshik Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I'm at FIU now... and I'm not even sure when the anime club meets. but um yeah next years con... So Jumbie, when you coming back here? that way we could sabotage B&N for their collection of homosexual lovey dovey manga?
Jumbie Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I have no plans. The US got real strict about issuing visa back in August because Guyana elections were upcoming and they feared a surge of illegal overstayers if the elections got violent. (They didn't) ENd result though is no visa for me. ANd no plans for a visit. I may, however, go back to FIU for a Master's degree or a teaching certification after I'm done graduating from the ENglish degree program here at the end of this academic year.
Lycaon Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 we'll always have megacon Indeed, and if I come over with MH, I'll see about bringing some of my cd's (assuming yall supply the computer to watch them on).
