Iambaytor Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 So what is it? Dirty Harry or Deathwish? Harry Callahan or Paul Kearsey? Eastwood or Bronson? Now before everyone says Dirty Harry, I want to make a case for Death Wish. Paul Kersey certainly loses a lot more in Death Wish and it doesnt pull any punches (Dirty Harry only pulled a couple but still) and in many ways Paul Kersey seems like a more realistic character, like you or me, he's not an over the top action star, he's a normal guy with a trenchcoat and a revolver and it's nice in many ways. As for the sequels to both movies I prefer Death Wish 5 to The Dead Pool any day cant say much on the rest as I've not seen them since I was about 8 or so.
The NZA Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 i havent watched the entire of either series, but yeah, i had to read your thing before i jumped on the dirty harry bandwagon...Bronson's cool, but Sergio Leone showed it in "Once upon a time in the west"; he's a poor man's Clint.
Iambaytor Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 Yeah but Bronson started his acting career 3 years before Eastwood did if you want to count their first minor roles on IMDb (1951 and 1955 respectively) and while in Western's I'm inclined to agree with you on Bronson being a poor man's Clint, his action movies were unparalleled I hold him up there with Steve McQueen. And I dont know I guess while I found Dirty Harry groundbreaking and both Callahan and Scorpio excellent parallels for the story I guess Death Wish always just hit me harder with the thought, "That could be me." I guess it just hit closer to home.
The NZA Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 shit, that's like how i felt about "Falling Down" a long time back...i gotta go watch a Death Wish flick sometime again. which one you recommend as the best of the series?
Iambaytor Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 My personal favorite was Death Wish 2 it wasnt as over the top as some of the sequels which for me made it better.
MusicManiac Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Money Mike says... DURTY HARRY . Clint's all the pimp right there, Nigga.
Iambaytor Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 O....kay. Am I the only one here who like Death Wish? Am I the only one who SAW Death Wish?
MusicManiac Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Charles Bronson... good. Clint Eatwood... great. I saw DW, for me, it's not bad. But the Clint flicks are just classic cinema.
