The NZA Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 So, im unsure if this is supposed to be a release game or not, but here's the new Mario....it looks like the kind of fun platformer you'd expect from the series. Graphically, not much better than Mario: Sunshine, but that's bishop's argument anyway. My only concern is that, like Sunshine, ill get tired of seeing the same setting after about 3 or 4 stages, and just long to play the variety that was Mario 64 again...man, what a game. Speakin of, i gotta check out the new Mario on DS sometime, and at least rent Super Paper Mario for GC, that looked cool too. Anyway, here's some gameplay: video of a boss fight
Stilly Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Saw that video a while back. Kinda looks interesting, but I don't really know how well the "small world over and over again" concept is going to work. Looks like it would be maddingly frustrating at first...kind of cool in the middle ...and then completely lame near the end of your gaming experience.
bishopcruz Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 From what I hear this game was MADE for the Wii controller and is one of the better games for the system, I think it is coming out later next year, probably in March, which is what appears to be the new november.
Iambaytor Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Mario Football, Mario Soccer, Mario Baseball, Mario goes to Camp, Mario saves Christmas, dear god how many gimmicks are they gonna play at?
bishopcruz Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Well, this is the actual sequel to Mario Sunshine so it isn't one of the gimmick games.
Lycaon Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Mario Football, Mario Soccer, Mario Baseball, Mario goes to Camp, Mario saves Christmas, dear god how many gimmicks are they gonna play at? I think the question is: When are they gonna do another RPG?
bishopcruz Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Super Paper Mario is already in the works. It is now supposedly coming otu on the Wii.
Jables Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Well, this is the actual sequel to Mario Sunshine so it isn't one of the gimmick games. Does this mean he has a faggy water-gun again? That shit was too cute for Alana even!
bishopcruz Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Nope no water gun from what I hear. Buzz has it that this is what Sunshine should have been, and it may be as innovative as Mario 64, we'll see.
Jables Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I have nevereverever played Mario64, so let's see... When I think about the Wii controller I figure I'll probably Mario Colostomy if it utilises the movement bitsies.
Reverend Jax Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I'm at the boss of the 4th world, I have like 63 stars, and I'm loving this game. The engine is very similar to Super Mario 64 (the same jump moves: sliding long jumps, running triple jumps, crouching back flips, ground pounds), the same camera system (c button put the camera behind you, up arrow goes 1st person, left and right arrows turn camera 45 degrees). Basically, if you played Mario 64, you'll feel very comfortable with this. The big change in controls in the spin move (done by shaking the controller) and the pointer star (you can collect certain objects by pointing your remote at the screen and activate certain other objects by pointing and click them). The spin move is learned very quickly, and the pointing takes some getting used to, but becomes natural too. Thsi game is great. It's a huge insult to the laws of physics to an extent that Mario has never been before, and it's very fun. Luigi is such a dink, always finding stars, then getting lost and then I have to go save him to recover the star. I would love to sem him as unlockable, but I doubt it. Bee Mario is ok (not as fun as raccoon or caped Mario), Ghost Mario was under utilized (you him in like ONE room!), Ice and Fire Mario are fun. I'm loving this game. I might even play it a bit when I gt Rock Band.
The NZA Posted December 5, 2007 Author Posted December 5, 2007 I really need to get back to this one; i was only like 4 stars in and having a good time, i think i put it down to let the wiimote batteries charge and have yet to pick it back up due to its lack of achievements, sad as that sounds. Soon, though, as Bee Mario kept me intrigued.
SuperEeyore Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I have it too!!! I like it, I'm about 9 stars into the game so far. Bee Mario could have been better though.
soldier of fortune Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Assassin's creed is a time whore!!! I must get back to this. though maybe when i'm feeling a bit better!

SuperEeyore Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 110 stars... beat the game and still have 10 more to go... jesus.
