Aartemys Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Technically yes. I caught a bit of another one earlier in the day since they were doing a marathon...but it was the first one I have ever watched in its entirety, Quote
Lycaon Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Well, best get on that, then. :p Quote
MetalHeart Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Ly gave us all of the newer Dr. Who, and I am loving it so far! I knew I would, though. When do I get to see Cpt. Jack?! *drool* Quote
Lycaon Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 He's introduced in the 9th episode of the first season. Quote
MetalHeart Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Sweeeeeeeet. We've only made it through ep six so far. Quote
Maldron Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 River Song's gonna be fucking shit up on NCIS this week. I know this because I watch NCIS. Quote
Iambaytor Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I like NCIS, it kills aliens and doesn't afraid of anything. Quote
archangel Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 After season 3, start watching Torchwood. They run parallel throughout Tennant's Run. Quote
Lycaon Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 That's good to know. Been rewatching the series recently, so maybe I'll do that. Quote
MetalHeart Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Torchwood is the SHIT. I fucked up my timeline by watching it before Dr. Who, but it's really interesting to see the nods and remarks towards it. Quote
Keth Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Ok I had to skip like 3 episodes to the end of season 2. The stories have become super predictable at this point. I'm hoping season 3 brings some good changes, cause i like this doctor, I don't like the characters surrounding him. Quote
Iambaytor Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I have the entirety of Doctor Who currently downloading. EVERYTHING. I expect to have a lot of annoying in-jokes and a glorious neckbeard by this time next year. Quote
the division of joy Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 The New Dr. is one of the few things that could get me excited about this show. He's awesome, I just hope he retains some of his previous glories for Dr Who. Quote
Aartemys Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 We started watching two seasons ago but recently started watching the episodes beginning with Christopher Eccleston...I might get lynched for this -- but I don't care for Rose one bit and I can barely stomach that incarnation of The Doctor...Three more episodes to go for that season, I believe... Saw Captain Jack for the first time and...<SWOON> If I didn't know he was gay in real life--(I've been following him on FB for a few months now)--I'd be devastated to find out! Quote
Keth Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I actually like Eccleston more than Tennant at the moment. He is awesome sure, but I just dug Eccleston's portrayal. I always hear about Matt Smith and David Tennant's versions, i can't help but feel the first guy is a bit underrated. Rose can indeed die in a fire though for all I care though. Quote
Keth Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 You sir, win the day. A nice big green Plus1 when it resets. Quote
Lycaon Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 A couple of friends of mine did a video birthday card for someone where they acted out a bunch of scenes from various movies. That scene at the car (not what came after) was at the end of the card. Also, I like all three of the latest incarnations of the Doctor, but I agree that Christopher Eccleston's Doctor was under-rated. As was Donna Noble (terrible way to go). Quote
Keth Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Just finished Tennant's run... still liking it but.... The Doctor is awesome himself, but the writing ranges from amazing to downright lazy. I'm having a hard time wondering exactly why Donna's memory just had to be erased other than fisting the audience's feeling-holes. Instead of letting the character grow and become more interesting, they make her regress. Sure The Doctor kinda grows from this, but they could have done far more interesting things with this. I absolutely loved how he kind of snapped in the Waters of Mars episode. If Donna was there with him she could have witnessed him go too far and let that be her reason for leaving him or something.... I dunno, maybe I'm nitpicking and am overly attached to that character, but her out seemed very much to shock the audience/keep for stupid plot device. There are other examples, but that's the biggest one I can think of that irked me the most. Also.. the FUCKING villains man. Aside from The Master, who is fantastic, I loathe most of the villains, and not for the right reasons. Daleks, Cybermen and Sontarans are all probably the most obnoxious bad guys ever. I wanna see that writer's meeting when one guy said "y'know what'd be awesome? Space Dwarves." Now that sounds awesome on paper, but throw in the fact they are giant dicks, (am I being figurative here?) and don't have the awesome facial hair of Tolkien dwarves, you have these completely non-menacing beings who are scaring people for some reason.... I may get lynched for some of this/put in my place, but I invite that. I wanna be proven wrong and see these in a different light. Ok things I'm liking... The Doctor himself of course. David Tennant is so damn likable as the guy, it's just fun to watch him go. "I don't want to go" < that shit broke my heart. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to him. I wish we had more time with Eccelston as well as his departure was extremely pale in comparison. I also like the companions more. Donna Noble is probably my favorite character behind The Doctor. Both her and Martha Jones > Rose. Overall I'm liking the actual storylines. the John Smith episodes when he meets the girl from Spaced and 2 Game of Thrones actors was great and I already mentioned how I like Waters of Mars. The Stories are interesting enough, I'm able to ignore some of the poorer plot elements. The Motherfucking Master. This guy is one of the best villains I have ever seen. He's hilarious and badass and I wish there were more like him. He's like Loki on steroids and I sincerely hope he returns. Bring on the next Doctor! Quote
Lycaon Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 The Donna bit was Moffat. That was a terrible way to end it. Quote
