So...i started around the time of Arli$$, Spawn, and Oz, and really got into the network's shows when Sopranos started, it was huge.

Since then, HBO has been pound-for-pound the best TV netowrk out there for its shows (moreso than movies, id argue), while FX and others are stepping it up as well.

Still, ive seeen much of Sopranos, Ali G, Oz, and a few others (LL, we still have Six Feet Under season 1?), and recently downloaded The Wire, Deadwood, Rome, and wokring on Band of Brothers soon (thinking about Carnivale after all the hondonian hype), im not familar with the others. Right now, i lean towards Sorpnaos, but then ive put the most time into that one so far.

What's your favorite of this great list?

I haven't seen all of them on list but I'm inclined to vote Sopranos, as well. Every single one of those shows are great (I'm a big fan of Deadwood and Rome, and though I haven't gotten to see much of it, everything I've seen of The Wire is fantastic) but The Sopranos has pretty much been the best show on television every single year its been around.

By the way, Band of Brothers was just a miniseries so I'm not sure it really counts. An amazing miniseries, though, you need to watch it Nick.

Ive heard - is it true that and Rome are getitng more in the future?

Carnivalle is next to download on my list, as well. Fuck, i cant wait to add Preacher to this list in like...'08.

I've heard the same about Rome, that there'll be more soon. As for Carnivale, that shit's wonderful (I'm surprised you haven't seen it yet, not to mention that it never made it past two seasons. That was as fucked up as the early cancellation of Dead Like Me, or even dare I say it, almost as fucked up as the early cancellation of Firefly).

Rome started as a miniseries but became an actual series. It's getting a second season soon. Band of Brothers ended when the mini ended.

And I miss Dead Like Me :werewolf:

Dead Like Me was awesome (any moment MH'll probably pipe in here), and I'll not hear an ill word spoken of Carnivale. It may not be a saint, but that shit was great. GREAT.

DoJ - yes, if you like gangster flicks. its not as hollywood, but its a really great show.

Ly - howbout a Dead Like Me thread for us that dont know...?

i'm not majorly pushed on gangster flicks... jane austins mafia is about as far as i'll go really... i don't see the hype about the godfather's or scarface... ive tried... then again, lock stock and snatch could also be considered somewhat gangster... i'll torrent the first series and go from there

to be honest, the only real reason i don't like the godfathers is because i had a friend ruin the films on me by telling me everything that happened in them, and hence, i wasn't that taken away by them... scarface just out n out bored me...

HBO trounces your britlands.

Scarface is overrated, but if you dont dig Godfather, Casino, Heat, Once upon a time in America (never finished it tho), A bronx tale, carlito's way...fuck, its a helluva genre to miss out on, and Sopranos was orignally sold (as i recall) as teh more realistic side of it...either way, its a great show, good enough to renew my faith in TV writing during the dark days of reality TV explosion.

Carnival's the one 2T and/or Jont hyped too, yes? cause if not, ill go in on just ly's say-so

Oh. Right then. In that case, I do believe they were some of the ones talking about it in the favorite tv show thread. Been thinking about starting a Carnivale thread (as well as the Dead Like Me thread), and quoting them in there.

Well, let me get off your mother first... :ghost:

"I've got illegals in my bottom!"

God, I miss Mason. But Dead Like Me was a Showtime show, and this is an HBO thread so how 'bout them Romans?

Hey, that's right!

man, this is a really difficult poll. i think i'm gonna go with six feet under though. i loved the way they ended the show. i thought it was one of the best series finales i've seen. very appropriate for the show.

i think i deleted the first season though, nick, so you'll have to redownload it.
