soldier of fortune Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 DVD (two versions, one with two discs and gig in hyde park london, and one with one disc with gig in LA, i've the one disc version) DVD: Skin And Bones (Live in Hollywood) 1.Intro 2.Razor 3.Over And Out 4.On The Mend 5.Walking After You 6.Still 7.Marigold 8.My Hero 9.Next Year 10.Another Round 11.See You 12.Cold Day In The Sun 13.Big Me 14.What If I Do 15.Skin And Bones 16.Ain't It The Life 17.February Stars 18.Times Like These 19.Friend Of A Friend 20.Best Of You 21.Everlong CD (the cd is of the recording in LA, notice there are some tracks missing, obviously due to the limitations of amount of audio you can put on CD) Razor Over And Out Walking After You Marigold My Hero Next Year Another Round Big Me Cold Day In The Sun Skin And Bones February Stars Times Like These Friend Of A Friend Best Of You Everlong When i first realised that the foo fighters were releasing an acoustic album, i thought, hmm how's that gonna sound. Actually when they played Dublin in Dec 2005 Dave Grohl said they'd be back on tour with an acoustic show, the never came However, this didn't stop me wanting the CD & DVD. In my opinion, Dave Grohl is supremely talented, and is quite underrated, and its no doubt this was his concept, yes it may be a bit like Nirvana's Unplugged, but its different on a lot of levels, for a start, i somehow doubt was suffering withdrawal from Heroin, and needed some valium to calm him down. Its in this extended foo fighters show, 2 hours on the dvd, with strings, more percussion, even Pat Smear makes a comeback, and acoustic sound. The audience was caught like a rabbit in the headlights at the quality and talent of these musicians. Dave Grohl says in the DVD that nearly all foo fighters songs start life as acoustic, then are fed rock steroids before they become belters, Best of You springs to mind here, he sings this one, on his own, playing only his guitar, and it hits the senses as much, if not more than the rock version which features on In You Honor. You can expect the usual Foo Fighters classics here, My Hero, Everlong, Walking After You, February Stars, all great songs off arguably their best album, The Colour and The Shape. My Hero - Amazing (Taken from Youtube) While they play a lot of their more recent stuff too. What makes the DVD for me, is the 5.1 Audio mix, perfect for anyone who has a dolby digital enabled home theatre amp (like me) the sound quality is amazing, and for anyone who likes the foo fighters, i couldn't recommend this enough! / 5 Great CD / DVD, thanks Nanno,
crimsonfire Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I've heard good things about this. I've always been a huge Foos fan so i might pick this up if i have the cash. Most concert dvds i find a bit boring though. Just makes me pissed off that i wasnt actually there lol.
The NZA Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Ive a number of Foo Fighters acoustics from Junker that i actually prefer to the album versions, so i gotta check thsi out - thanks for puttin me onto it wayne.
soldier of fortune Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 Bootlegs are great, cept the don't have the obvious production values that a "legit" cd would have. Really the CD is great as well
