Reverend Jax Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I seem to remember a poll like this, but maybe Nick ritually sacrificed it to the Forum Crash gods. Ah, the teen movie. Hollywood loves them because if the actors are good looking, kids eat em up, and good looking young actors of the day are looking to establish their celebrity status so they can be the adult leads of the serious films of tomorrow. Any for the big stars like Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall, things couldn't have worked out better (in all seriousness, the 80 teen movie scene was where tons of today's stars got their start: Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, John Cusack, Sean Penn, Wynona Rider, Christian Slater, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Emilo Estevez, Keanu Reeves just to name the few that come to mind). Anyway, I tried to make it strictly about movies ina High School setting, but I made a few expections.
IguanaDon? Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I chose Breakfast club over Ferris Bueller's day off... Had too.
Reverend Jax Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 I chose Breakfast club over Ferris Bueller's day off... Had too. But why you chose it over Heathers or Better Off Dead... that's anybody's guess.
soldier of fortune Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 ah teen wolf, just watched that the other day... still have to cast my vote!
Ganny McVagflaps Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw, could there be anything else? The Breakfast Club died with my youth, although who can't love when Emilio smokes the reefer and dances his way to cinematic gold? Better Off Dead is great too. Whatever happened to "Savage" Steve Holland? He knew what the score was. I watched Teen Wolf on HBO the other day. I'd love to get freaky with MJF in a closet.
HypnotizinChikns Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I had to go with the Breakfast Club, Emilo was so hot back in the day.
Iambaytor Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Weird Science hands down, Anthony Michael Hall at his best. Kinda sad that Summer School didn't make this list?
Reverend Jax Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw, could there be anything else?Awesome, that's you and me for Heathers. I honestly had you pegged as going for Porky's, but you always surprise me, which is why I continue to manlove you year after year.
The NZA Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 No "Secret of my Sucess"? Spiffy'dve cried. I think J Fox was in high school then or something, he always looked like that. I like how Ghostbusters is off so as to not own this list. Its been a while for many of these (like "Weird Science") but im leaning towards Better off Dead, oddly. That and Ferris, of course.
Ganny McVagflaps Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Heathers is the Citizen Kane of teen movies. It never has and never will be beaten.
Reverend Jax Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Heathers is the Citizen Kane of teen movies. 80's of any other decade for that matter.
Silent Bob Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I like how Ghostbusters is off so as to not own this list. Its been a while for many of these (like "Weird Science") but im leaning towards Better off Dead, oddly. That and Ferris, of course. ...wait, how is Ghostbusters an 80s Teen Movie? I really want to vote for Better Off Dead. It's not the best movie on there, but it's one of my favorites and definitely deserves a vote from somebody. Yeah, it's settled, old-school Cusack for me.
Reverend Jax Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 I'm glad you did. Better Off Dead deserves the props, and I am committed to voting for Heathers in any poll in which I can vote for it (except in the "Having Sex with Rosario Dawson Vs Watching Heathers" poll).
The NZA Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Ghostbusters was totally an 80's teen flick. Or it was so good, it just wins in that catergory too. i'm gonna sit here and nod like i saw heathers.
Ganny McVagflaps Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Wiki-Power! with some editing... Veronica (Winona Ryder) is part of the most popular clique in Westerburg High School in Sherwood, In addition to Veronica, the clique is composed of three pretty and wealthy girls with the same first name: Heather Chandler (Kim Walker), Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty) and Heather McNamara (Lisanne Falk). Even though they are worshipped and adored, the Heathers despise everyone who isn't in their clique, and continuously bully socially awkward classmates. When a new student, a rebellious boy named Jason Dean (Christian Slater), or J.D. pulls a gun on school bullies Kurt (Lance Fenton) and Ram (Patrick Labyorteaux) and fires blanks at them, Veronica is intrigued. And I don't wanna go any further. If you saw it you'd remember. It's one of those movies that I love when I find people that have never seen it and just stick it on for them say nothing and watch the reaction. One of the best movies ever. Tell you what, if you can't get a download of it I'll burn you a copy for Megacon. Plus those two fucking copies of Darkness...
The NZA Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Yes. yesss. I can finally see it twice, like it was meant to be watched. that winona sounds cuntish. Anyway, if you burn it, they will watch.
Reverend Jax Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 I could add it to the growing collection of "Jax's DVDs on the Nick's shelf he'll never see." The man has never seen The Lion King.
The NZA Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 shit, i forgot about that. you know, i did see the pirate one.
Reverend Jax Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 I know. You told me. Does Lindsay know Spinal Tap is there for her?
The NZA Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Spinal tap is there for everyone, when they need it most. and i dont know, she ran away recently. if/when she comes back, im sure i can tell her for the 3rd time, but ill prolly forget when i realize she still didnt get Slither back. i get derailed by her daunting DVD collection.
