So, another 74 on metacritic, but im realizin that means less and less. Its Konami, so i had to give it a try. Turns out, its a fun mix of Pikmin and Katamari.

First off: the plot is nauseatingly childish, so skip it and run with this: these little creatures are hidden, and they are what powers electricity. Youve simply got to explore the given room/area and catch them.

It plays (in concept) similiar to Katamari Damacy, in that you start off with the room fairly dark, and the gun you use to capture them or move things to look for them is weak, your options are limited. Naturally, for the most part, your enemy is time, and by the end of whatever amount youre allotted, youre powerful enough sometimes to tear a room apart and its just this frantic search to clear wahtever wattage amount they want to beat the level.

Later on, they add variables, like things firing on you, and then things like how quiet you can be in the process, which is tricky cause they get loud when theyre scared, or can you beat the level only breaking a few things around you in the process? It gets tricky, but never impossible, it keeps you wanting to play.

I got a few stages in, spent hours on the game & fought the first boss and i had a good time with it. Regretably, i didnt have a chance to check out the 2-player mode to comment on it here.

WOULD I BUY IT: Similar to Red Steel (tho i played this one more), id do so for $20-30 but not $50. If nothing else, here's another great rental.

next up: Sonic and the secret rings
