Clone High

Clone High was an animated show back in 2002 on MTV that got canceled. They only made 13 episodes and only about half of them aired. There wew a couple American Animated series from this time period that got canceled after one season on some network and ended up in syndication on Adult Swim (Mission Hill, The Oblongs, Clerks, Undergrads, and most famously Family Guy), but this one never made it over. And it's a shame, cause it's hilarious. Here's the gist of it:

In the eighties, a secret military project ordered by "The Board of Shadowy Figures" obtained DNA from various historical figures, cloned them and set them up with foster families in a town where they all got tot he same High School, in hopes that they can be used for some diabolical military plot when they grow up. The principle put in charge of the school is a mad scientist who has his own plan to use the clones to populate a History based amusement park called "Cloney Island". The characters fill typical high school tv show stereotypical archatypes and are often nothing like their historical counterparts.

The show had the same producer as SCRUBS (which is how I gound out about the show, by reading the Scrubs wikipedia page) and many of the Scrubs' stars and guest stars have recurring or guest roles in this show.

The core cast, from Left to Right: Gandhi, Cleopatra, Abraham Lincoln, Joan of Arc and JFK.

Every episode makes fun of High School teen shows that tackle teen issues like eating disorders and underage drinking. To but it another way, every episode is "a very special episode of Clone High." One episode closes with the announcer narating:

"Next time, on a very special clone high: Will Abe and Joans' student films reveal their true feelings for one other? How will Scudworth get himself out of another dangerous pickle? And what will become of Gandhi? I'd tell you, but I haven't seen the episode yet, they were supposed to send it to me but there's this guy at work who totally hates me. If he gets me fired I'm going to kill his dog..."

The show reminds me of many shows, like Clerks Animated, Daria, Invader Zim, the Oblongs, Scrubs, all of which I like alot. I downloaded one episode and decided to buy the DVD (which is really cheap). It has only been released officially on DVD in Canada, so it's not in USA stores, but you can get in at amazon.ca from amazon, or through the US amazon.com through via "Buy Used" and get the 13 episodes on 2 discs for under $20, and getting it from within the US will save you on shipping.

I'll come back to this thread when I finish watching the whole series, at which point I expect this thread to have 3 views and no replies.

Cj and I downloaded these and watched them straight through about four months ago. It's so funny!!!

My favorite episode is "Raisin the Stakes: A Rock Opera in Three Acts" and There are "subliminal" frames that flash throughout the episode. So awesome.

"It takes an Hero" was a way better movie than "Black and Tan".

Abe - "I'd like to introduce my film, "It Takes a Hero". Here is my soul, friends, my soul."
