Iambaytor Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I recently found out that director George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Creepshow, Bruiser, and the rarely seen but truly amazing Knight Riders) was commissioned by Capcom to make the Resident Evil movie and was talked into writing a screenplay which was dropped in favor of the version we all know and... well we all know it. I read this and it's pretty good. It's a good adaptation of the game and doesn't have overly-badass female co-stars, ambiguos lesbian subtext, ripoffs of the movie Cube, camera cutaways for gorey scenes, Alice and Wonderland references. It's the movie the first one should have been. It can be found here: http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/resident_evil_romero.html Here's my source: http://www.twitchguru.com/2007/03/16/georg...wood/page2.html
The NZA Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 i cant be bothered to read it all right now...anyone summarize, and allude to why they didnt go with it? I only made it halfway through Smith's Superman script, but i bet it woulda been better than what i saw.
Iambaytor Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 It's basically the first game but Romero took some liberties. The only reason given was that it wasn't what Capcom was looking for. (Apparently relatively bloodless zombie mutilation, overly badass females, and horribly fake-looking CG monsters were)
The NZA Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 yeah, well, you need jump-kicking demon dogs if you want my money. that aside, what liberties did he take? Man, i wish i could see his version. I really dug RE1 (never saw 2) but id love to have seen this.
