Jables
Looks like Red is the only one who voted X-Box. And that was merely on account of the bastard Skeeter promising to urinate in Red's nail polish if X-box wasn't voted. Red's more of a Coleco Kryptonian. The NZA
years later, and the xbox somehow trumped even the ps2....fight club polls never really determined much of anything, come to think of it. except that braveheart/maximus one, that turned out alright. Reverend Jax
I haven't been a real serious gamer for years now, especially since the last generation of systems came out (ps2,x-box,cube), but does the X-Box have anything going for it that teh ps2 doesn't beside Halo? the division of joy
well, some people will agree that halo is the only good thing on the xbox.... its their only really stand alone game, but there are a brace of awesome games for it.... whats more graphically its superior and some games run a lot smoother on the xbox than they would on a ps2... i also prefer the fact that you don't need memory cards (or at least the xbox i have doesn't need them... viva la piracy)... the only downside to the xbox i can see is its over complicated controller... it takes a bit too much getting used to in my opinion, but some people like that.... it is a hard choice in my book, but my heart always goes to the ps2.... it has just that edge in my opinion... i don't however see why the pc is up there as an option though, the pc isn't a console more as it is a system... but as gaming goes, it is unrivalled in my opinion... what with proper onling gaming, ie half life 2/doom 3/unreal tournament... the list will just go on... and for me, i love keyboard controls too, its more laid out and less cramped... FableFableFable. Fuck Halo, FABLE. Seriously, Fable was sole reason I got an Xbox & I haven't looked back since. I played stuff like Xmen Legends on PS2 & then xbox & found the loadtimes to be dramatically decreased on the Xbox, and graphically I can't tell the difference between the two(though I haven't seen anything as next-gen-looking as 24 on xbox), but gameplay-wise I found the xbox more ergonomic & inherently responsive. Not to mention the Harddrive was a massive inovation.
the division of joy
i agree completely with you there man, fable is one awseome game... its just so expansive as to what can happen and how you grow... fuck... to think, i thought jade empire was the shit at one stage... then bang... fable blew me the fuck away
Jables
??? Did Fable come out after JE there or did you just not pick it up? I'm sorta wading my way through JE bit by bit. It's a little too... Structured in it's latitude. S'a bloody good engine, and I can't fault the play, but it almost feels too good for me to play. S'weird I know. the division of joy
im not sure what came out, but the allure of ass kicking hot asian chicks kinda caught my eye... the game is amazing.... but i see what you're saying alright... it is a bit too structured.... i need to get xbox live.... Jables
You need to get a 360 and then get live. JE & Fable both have patches.
the division of joy
i'm gonna wait a while anyway to get a 360... they're mega money over here... i wanna wait till they go down a good bit till i get one.... i mean, yes the graphics are breath taking and everything so far ive played on it is breath taking but i'm not paying about 600 euro for a console.... thats about half my fortnightly wages..... The NZA
i can name like a dozen PS2 titles to your fable. Fuck hardware, ergonomics (fuck is that?), its a bout lineup kids, and PS2's library is like the Nelson to X-box's Milhouse. we'll see how this gen goes, but im glad this poll finally saw justice, yes sir justice. Losifer
As much as I liked my DC, the PS2 line-up did it for me (much like how the PSOne line-up did it for me over the N64). Some of my favorite games are only on the PS2 (like DMC, FF series, etc.) so i never bothered to even deal with the Xbox...sorry Halo...overhyped. Jables
Hope you guys enjoyed Sony as a player on the console market... Our Grandkids are gonna be looking at this going 'Sony made games? I've heard of this PS3 but nothing after that. And what the fuck's a Blu-Ray?' When even the Wii outclasses the PS3 you girls are gonna be weeping, and your anguish will taste like hamburgers cooked in Jessica Alba's arse-cheeks. The NZA
oh, again, i think Sony shat themselves out of the # 1 spot the way nintendo did for them in the 90's. This next gen's anyone's game, though id love to see Nintendo step it up. But for PS2 vs X-Box 1, its not even a competition. I just hope my grandkids have at least one real company still making hardware, be it nintnedo or sega, somehow. you kids cant make me touch your newfangled microcomputers
Jables
Alright well in the face of XB vs PS2(I gots caught up in the company wars) I'll give PS2 the edge to be sure, for the reasons sited above by Los & Newt I think it was. Shit though, for a breakout console that innovated in so many ways it did pretty fucking well. I mean seriously, most of Sony's water comes from backward compatability & that's what solely what will sell PS3s. Aside from that, I'm sick to fucking death of the PS controller. I remember back inna day when every new Console meant a new control, and in a lotta cases more buttons. The DC set the modern standard & thankfully there hasn'tt been more buttons since, but at least other companies show innovation(the GC control was a digital orgasm to hold). arc
am i the only one that not only believes but hopes that nintendo is on it's last leg am I the only one that wants them to be bought out by playsation Edited October 23, 2006 by arc
The NZA
what the...? why would you want that, just to get Link or Mario onto the PS3? nah, we benefit as consumers when there's competition. You like paying $600+ for a console, while Nintendo's willing to charge a fraction of that? I love the PS2, but if Sony keeps dicking around like this, im hopin they lose more ground, to miscrosoft and nintendo both. ps you seen the Wii at all? i thought youd support innovation like that. arc
the wii seems interesting it truly does but never the less i would like to consolidate my systems into one i would like to play some of my childhood favorites from nintendo on the system that they should have evolved into aside from that i do worry about the pricing of video game systems it isn’t logical it isn’t even smart the $600.oo price tag that the ps3 has just won’t last and i suspect/hope that they take a heavy hit for attempting to do us the consumer wrong when the president of sony entertainment spews out nonsense like “i want people to work more just to buy our new system” then i think its time that they/he are/is humbled the price has already dropped in japan by $100.oo since its release and all signs point to an even more dramatic fall to come in addition the monopoly that would be created by a two system market would only be as strong or as expansive as the consumer allows it to be although i have out grown my atari i’m still having plenty of fun with my nintendo and personally i’m not going to buy any system over $200.oo dollars this year because i have plenty of old games to play still my advise for anyone that would care to listen would be to got out a little while from now after you finish reading my advise and buy $100.oo worth of used games for the ps2 if you’re a wise consumer and you look for the buy two get one free deals as well as the $10.00 bin you should make it out with at least ten solid games these games should be more than enough to wait out the first year’s price drop or you know what take that $100.oo and buy a lot of books i recommend looking into the classics like narnia through the looking glass lord of the rings sir giles of ham or there are the instant classics like the harry potters and the tales of unfortunate events or you can even send me some money as an advanced sale for the book i’m putting together for 2011 and there is always the Bible which is also a great book that will give you days and months worth of entertainment as and if you read carefully maybe you’ll walk away enlightened. Acalis
the wii seems interesting it truly does but never the less i would like to consolidate my systems into one i would like to play some of my childhood favorites from nintendo on the system that they should have evolved into They should have ROM-downloading and/or installing capabilities to their system, then we can simply download our old-time favorite games from yesteryear to play them. Or they should make more compilation games with all the old favorites like there are some on PS2 for old Atari games. aside from that i do worry about the pricing of video game systems it isn’t logical it isn’t even smart the $600.oo price tag that the ps3 has just won’t last and i suspect/hope that they take a heavy hit for attempting to do us the consumer wrong when the president of sony entertainment spews out nonsense like “i want people to work more just to buy our new system” then i think its time that they/he are/is humbled the price has already dropped in japan by $100.oo since its release and all signs point to an even more dramatic fall to come I give it less than a year, then you will see prices drop to half the amount when Sony sees sales are sluggish. in addition the monopoly that would be created by a two system market would only be as strong or as expansive as the consumer allows it to be although i have out grown my atari i’m still having plenty of fun with my nintendo and personally i’m not going to buy any system over $200.oo dollars this year because i have plenty of old games to play still I agree. True, you need to set the controller down and walk away at least once in a while. I notice I don't play video games nowadays as often as I used to, nor do I fight over what system to get the minute it gets out like I used to. Jables
Fuck you sellouts People shell out exorbinate amounts on PCs every day which are used strictly for gaming or porn, and the console gaming industry is an animal like any other medium with the cancerous growth of Greed in it's belly. Ultimately it's as much a matter of what they're gonna offer to fuck us as them covering costs for all the bells & whistles they're putting into these things these days.
