soldier of fortune
Ok, so thanks to that link from DoJ i got a SNES emulator with a few roms to keep me happy, mainly the ones of games i used to have on my snes. I also got a Saturn and PSone emulator, alas that sight didn't have any ROMs for it, cos i'd love to get Resident Evil! and a few saturn games. Acalis
Thought I'd revive this thread. Still looking for a good site to download ROMs. I used to go to nerologic.com, but the site has changed, and no longer has downloadable Roms like it did back in the day. The NZA
to be honest, only ROMs ive looked for lately were either DS/GBA ones (you can find em all here) or PSP ones, which're all over mininova and any respectable torrent site. what you looking for in particular? if youve got time to kill & drive space, you can find entire SNES/NES/Genesis/etc collections easy at places like isohunt. The NZA
ok, so ive been out of the emulation scene for years now. bish laughed when i asked if Genocyst and NESticle were still top of the pile. he mentioned an all-in-one sega emulator for Master System, Genesis, Game Gear, Saturn etc (CD too?), anyone know about this? i also have to check on ZNES or whatever the best SNES emu these days is. im looking to emulate the Sega systems, NES & SNES (not so much N64, ive got what i want on virtual console anyway), PSX, mebbe turbografx, not much else. truth be told, ive a number of great emulators running on my homebrew'd Wii, but i found what looks like good programs for a universal controller (gonna use the wired 360 pad) and a frontend for a media center that makes the emu & roms look quite sexy, cant wait to try that out. that said, ive got the ROMs to most of what id want, a few playstation 1 games aside (Vib Ribbon cant be too hard to find...?), but ive no idea what version & features the best emulators are up to now, so help me out here. alive she cried
if it wasnt for the spelling, id never know you were drunk. thank you; that was helpful. anyone else up on the emulator scene? bish? I use Gens, it's a great megadrive/genesis emulator. I also have a pc joypad which has the exact same layout as the saturn pad, so perfect for old school sega Edited August 3, 2009 by alive she cried
The NZA
nice! i recall the saturn having an awesome layout. which pad are you using?
alive she cried
I don't have it in the house at the moment, and i can't remember the brand. It's just some basic pc joypad i picked up on the cheap that does the job nicely. Waht i want is this though http://cgi.ebay.com.my/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=320377032163

bishopcruz
Saw that thing, looks pretty cool, but my PSP more or less serves that purpose.
Spycer
Saw that thing, looks pretty cool, but my PSP more or less serves that purpose. Mine too, plus it plays videos and has wi-fi web browsing.
Jables
Hey Bish- I'm probably gonna throw my PSP at you come Hondoscon. Seriously though, I gotta find someone local to do this. What am I asking them to do exactly?
The NZA
you want it cracked, custom firmware to play PSX games (?) and PSP games, etc. seriously. bring it with you - dont know if your region PSP's any different.
Jables
I moreso want it to handle older stuff like Genesis & SNES, since I can't be arsed plugging them in.
The NZA
he's good with that. SNES emu seems solid, and i was playing the sega-cd one perfectly, im fairly certain that can handle genesis then. you'll need a decent memory stick though, i forget what format PSP uses, something duo? i got an 8 gig off amazon a year or two back for like $50, im sure its a lot cheaper now. Jables
Yeah I'm not coming to HondosCon & foisting my fucking PSP onto Bish & setting him to work though. I just gotta find someone local can take care of it for me(not to mention those tasty roms will come in handy on the trip).
The NZA
ah. youve got the fatty PSP, yeah? find out what version firmware you have (i can walk you through the settings to find it if you cant), bish should at least be able to say more or less how its done. his way involves a custom battery that some people have. Jables
I didn't get the fatty, I got the 2000.
bishopcruz
If you want me to do it at hondo's con, np, it doesn't take too long, you'll just owe me a beer or something. Just so you know a VERY small number of 2000s can't be modded AFAIK. Edited August 28, 2009 by bishopcruz
Jables
Cool. I just discovered too that there's a fucking SNES Emulator on Android. I gotta get to downloading some games!!
The NZA
bish/anyone knowledgable here: what're some good benchmarks for PS2 and Wii emulation? id like to know how well/close my current system can perform these at, how much tweaking it'd take if i was so inclined later. i gotta say, some of the screenshots ive been seeing make the rez jump seem possibly worth the effort.
bishopcruz
PS2 depends on the game, and is pretty CPU limited, I think you need at least a 3gHZ+ dual core, and even then it isn't guaranteed at high rez. As for Wii, no fucking clue.
The NZA
shit, you werent kidding - that's more demanding than i thought. huh, well high-res PS2 games'll wait. its just that ive seen screens of Okami, FF X2 etc and fuck, gorgeous. bishopcruz
The bright side is, with a good card, once hte CPU overhead is taken care of, the res isn't that much more of a strain. FFXII looks fan-fuckingtabulous in HD, as does Shadow, but I can't QUITE get the framerates I want on them.
