Wall.E!

Recommended Posts

So, this thread about a movie was moved to the animation forum because it's an animated movie?

Racism!

Maybe. But its not the other forum's fault that it cannot face the awesomness of the Anime Forum. It is simply weak.

I feel in order for animated movies to gain respect of the public, they should be considered the feature films that they are. The anime forum could serve both purposes, yet I feel caters to the television crowd and its thirty minute series.

Wall-E looks just awesome, animated or not its a full blown feature film production. Casting, soundtrack, advertising. It should stay in the movie forum.

I feel for them to get the respect they deserve, people should stop calling them cartoons.

I cried at the ending of The Iron Giant so... heh.

Yes, the Iron Giant was a spectacular film. I'm really happy about the partnership Pixar has struck with Brad Bird, and I'm really curious as to what Brad Bird will do with 1906, Pixar's first live action feature.

Wall-E looks great, and I'm excited that Pixar's upcoming roster shows they are finally in one-film-per-summer mode, with a possible extra Pixar film for Christmas 2011 between to summer releases.

Okay. So I just got back from seeing this. I cannot even begin to express how absolutley fantastic this movie is. It is both emotionally and visually stunning. By far, my favorite Pixar movie to date.

Wall.E and E.V.E are quite possibly the most endearing charecters that the folks at PIXAR have ever created. Despite the fact that not much much is said between the two, the animators captured the essence of the phrase, 'actions speak louder than words'.

The contrast in visual stimulation makes you appreciate the bold from the drab, the new from the old etc...

It's a story of being alone and finding someone to connect with, and the refusal to give up that connection no matter what the cost.

In short, it's a love story.

and yeah. i totally cried.

Stop reading my feeble attempt at a review and go watch it. NOW!

(there's more i'd like to say, but I refuse to post spoilers of any type!)

:excellent:

Thanks, Dr G. Your review reflects pretty much every professional review I've read about the film (many reviewers insist that the film should bypass Best Animated Feature and shoot straight for a Best Picture nomination). I've already got tickets for an 8:45 showing. Can't wait to see it (obviously, from my new Hondos theme).

just finished seeing it. i have to admit it was pretty good. maybe even pixars best. even the traditional pre-show skit they had was great. unfortunately, the one thing i have a problem with these kids movies is that they always bring out the kids and parents and when there are kids and parents there are also babies. what is it with these parents who think the baby wont cry in a loud movie theatre with very loud boom and bangs. also, i had to sit through the entire movie with this brat and his friends, that had to comment on every scence.... out loud.... felt like slapping the kid. other than that, i came out more than satisfied with the movie. and dare i say it..................... it was so cute :excellent:

i saw this yesterday (FINALLY!!) and i honestly think it's one of the best movies i've seen in the past few years. it has so much packed into one perfect little movie...love story, cautionary tale, social commentary, sci-fi, etc. it's hard to think that pixar could get any better than they already are at animating, telling a story, making sure you give a damn about the characters, etc. but this movie had me in complete awe and emotionally involved from the first scan of earth. i also love that they chose thomas newman again to score this movie. he's my favorite movie composer and his scores are absolutely beautiful and have such emotional depth to them. i agree with people saying this should receive a best picture nod at the oscar's next year. it really is in it's own league and pixar has amazingly out done themselves this time. i don't think i've ever been so immediately and completely attached to a pixar character like this before, which is saying something given pixar's ability to make you fall in love with a cooking rat, feuding toys, circus bugs, etc. i laughed, i cried, i wanted to show it to my non-existent children...i can't say enough about this movie.

the short before the movie was brilliant as well.

(i think that this should be moved to the movie forum...what does everyone else think?)
