The NZA
This came outta nowhere, for me: Level 5, of White Knight Chronicles and such fame, and the much-adored Studio Ghibli (you know them from many of Miyazaki's works) are working on a DS RPG (supposedly its gonna be on another system too...smart money's on the wii), and the more details come up, the more its sounding exactly like what you'd hope for from seeing this studio finally get into games. Even the box, which is supposed to include a magic book for spells used in the game & such, looks beautiful (let's see if we get anything like this stateside, eh?) wiki says, on the plot: The player assumes the role of a 13 year-old boy whose actions lead to the death of his mother. He encounters a fairy that gives him a magic book that allows him to go to the world of Ninokuni, a reality parallel to his own. There he encounters alternate versions of people he knows; for instance his cat is a king there. The game will also include a booklet that is supposed to be the magic book from the game. In it players can find a bestiary, short stories that offer game hints and other info that the game will refer to. If you're somehow not hyped, check out this trailer: Im not even sure how it looks that good on a DS, to be honest, but i cant wait to read more about it. The NZA
I'm not even comfortable with considering the possibility of it not coming over. no one likes importing/reading gamefaqs while playing RPGs, but yeah, this one will be fucking tragic. People can deal with importing Tetsunoko vs Capcom, but this? No, there'd be hell to pay.

90sKid
Does anyone know if Miyazaki will have anything to do with this? I know he doesn't like modern entertainment, but still, it'd be huge if he at least did one single quote in the whole game =/
The NZA
i dunno, didnt kotaku once have that article, not far back, where he was basically anti-gaming/modern entertainment like you said? if im not mistaken, it was supposed to be something of his buddhist beliefs, least someone else threw that out there and it made sense...though doing anime as a luddite is odd. Newtype
When Level-5 announced Studio Ghibli tie-up RPG Ni no Kuni: The Another World for DS in 2008, it made some vague reference to a console counterpart to the game. This week's Famitsu reveals that the console version is for the PlayStation 3. The magazine doesn't provide details on the PS3 version. But this bit of text should intrigue Ghibli fans: "You'll be able to adventure in a world that has the feel of a Studio Ghibli anime." The entire point of the two page Famitsu spread on the PS3 version appears to be to show how closely it mirrors the concept art created by Studio Ghibli's master artists. A couple of screens labeled as "game screens" really do look like they were pulled straight out of an animated movie. The magazine lists the PlayStation 3 version as date and price TBA. Outside of the revelation of the PlayStation 3 version, Famitsu has a lengthy look at the DS version of the game, which it lists with a Fall 2010 release time period (this delay from the game's original Spring release period was quietly announced last month). New details include a look at the magic book that comes with the game, and details on the growth system for raising your "Imagine" partner characters. There will be over 300 such characters, who can be mixed and matched to create an original battle team to support main character Oliver. Thelogan
I had no idea Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney was even a thing. Now I've googled it and I demand my Layton/Wright crossover. And 'googled' is too a word, stoopid Hondos.
Newtype
The official site for the Level-5 role-playing adventure game Ni no Kuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joō confirmed that the game will ship for the PlayStation 3 in Japan on November 21. One of 2 things will happen: 1. Level 5 pulls a NOA on us and gives the fan the middle finger. or 2. Game comes out the week before the PS4 drops.
