soldier of fortune
I read Jurassic Park, not much else, still sad all the same!
Silent Bob
Jurassic Park and The Lost World, Sphere, The Andromeda Strain, Disclosure, Rising Sun, Timeline, Congo, Eaters of the Dead, The Great Train Robbery - the guy was always reliable when you wanted a well-done thriller on a rainy night or at the airport. I've read quite a few of his books and I never found one I didn't enjoy. He'll be missed.
Jables
Same. I say it wasn't cancer, he was eaten by basilisks on the beach, with a peaceful look on his face. Sorry, image-wise I've always imagined him to look like John Hammond.
Iambaytor
Aw damn it. As sci-fi writers go he was always one of the more well-read ones and even his most implausible novels seemed absolutely possible, oh well guess I'll have to settle for Steve Alten now. Signal08
I didn't realize that he was as old as he was. His pics make him look younger I guess. I enjoyed his stretch of imagination, especially since he didn't get stupid with it.
Lycaon
Yeah, I didn't really think he was that old either for some reason (I don't remember seeing his picture, though).

Jables
C'mon guys, with all respect, Conga kinda pushed the envelope a little. Good book & movie, but uh... Yeah.
Signal08
Congo was a horrible movie... everyone is allowed a freebie.
Jables
Yeah, from memory The Lost World(book) didn't have a T-rex tearing up San Diego, so I tend to look the other way when it comes to movie adaptions.
Iambaytor
Yeah, from memory The Lost World(book) didn't have a T-rex tearing up San Diego, so I tend to look the other way when it comes to movie adaptions. I think roughly 2% of anything that happened in the book The Lost World actually appeared in the movie.
Jables
True. Most of it was stuff from JP(book) that wasn't included in the first movie, ala the end of John Hammond.
Silent Bob
I remember really like The Lost World book and was a little disappointed that the film didn't have much to do with it. Though, admittedly, it does have a kind of B-movie charm to it in some spots, and the scene where the two T-Rex parents attack the trailer was pretty great. Iambaytor
Yeah, despite the fact that the movie and the book are separate entities I like both equally well, that and I liked that Malcolm actually got to be heroic in the movie.
