If the shoutbox can be set so that it's closed by default, then that's the best thing in the world and we should definitely go with that. Failing that, If the shoutbox can be moved to the bottom of the site, that'd be something I would support, even though it does kinda seem to defeat the purpose of the shoutbox... If those two aren't possible, I'd favor a note on the the Shoutbox that says, "Please keep the shoutbox clean, since some members view this site on public computers." That would be a REQUEST, not a rule, and it would be without penalty. I am 99% positive everyone would respect that and we won't have to make the move to RULES about it, because no one here is a big enough asshole to go against that request. BUT that means I still believe that people do good, and they do so far more often than not. I believe that the members will honor a request to keep the shoutbox clean for the same reason people honor a request to keep NSFW stuff in NSFW threads, because they aren't looking to get people in trouble at work. IN any case, My proposal still stands. Place a 'Keep it clean' request on the shoutbox. A real one, not some snarky, sideways, Nick request. But, what's disturbing me is this "keep nsfw stuff in desingnated threads" . For me me the nsfw thread is just a handy place to post that kind of stuff, not the only place we can post nsfw. From what I understand, at the moment I can post what I want, when I want, in whatever thread I want. And that's just the way it should stay. Blargh, for example, has an NSFW tag and there's still plenty of other threads that you have that option or if you're so enclined to share your massive internet porn collection with the world, make a new thread. I think the entire Inet is NSFW bc you cant predict anything thats gonna pop up, being an actual Pop up or what you click on. You know where I stand on these issues... but Joel and co are still my online family and I do respect the fact that they could end up in shit over questionable/offensive shit. So playing Mr. Nice Guy seems to be the suit I 'should' wear when clearly I dont have to. I understand their request for no NSFW images in shoutbox until we can resolve the automatic closing of it or whatnot, but Im with ASC, I shouldnt have to create an entire new thread bc I have a pic that relates to the topic of an exisiting... then you will get less production from people bc they just wont do it.
