  1. Pat Riley, President and GM of the Heat, should be arrested for Grand Theft! He steals the 25 year old 2-time and current NBA MVP LeBron James. With James, Wade and Bosh the Heat have 3 of the top 10 players in the NBA. All they need is some minimum guys and some role players to surround them. This is going to be fun!
  2. No Norton? That is unfortunate. But, that has been the trend for the last 2 hulk movies. Eric Bana was replaced in the re-boot by Norton. Norton's Banner was much closer to the current version of Banner in the books, he had a little bit of an edge to him. I thought he would have been good in the Avengers movie. I've read in a lot of places that he is a control freak, but in the end it was probably a financial decision. I am starting to think Marvel Studios is overwhelmed by this with the Avengers movie, I sincerely hope that is not the case.
  3. I actually like the new suit, It's much more functional. I think the Jim Lee's designed suit is a reflection of real-world aspect happening in comic art today. From Nolan's actual technology "Dark Knight" costume, to the the rendering of wrinkles and textures onto photo-realistic digital drawings in most of today's comics. The metal bustier and hot pants were dated. I agree the original always will be the iconic Wonder Woman. But, the fact that most fan-boy illustrations of Wonder Woman were first of a nude pin-up model, shows the impracticality of it. For years I wondered when Wonder Woman ,who is considered to be part of the DC Comics trinity with Batman and Superman, never given a seriously storyline like Batman's HUSH or Superman's "RED SON". The answer might be that the character like her costume, was stuck in the past. Her new suit will bring better and more mature storylines. I am not sure why Stracynski re-did the origin, Although it could be interesting to watch Diana eventually rediscover her origin. This new suit, because it is so functional, might open the door to the Wonder Woman movie that has been stuck in development hell for years. A young actress might now be more willing to play the role since the suit is less skimpy and more serious. Now, I will not hear another person say, How could she fight in the bustier and shorts without her junk falling out!
  4. Since we are finding mock up illustrations, here is what some strongly consider to be Captain America's costume for Joe Johnston's "Captain America". They are done very well, it also has Evans in the mask. For the most part I like it, it's a mix of the classic with the Ultimates version. I like some of the innovations, like the stripes into straps. I think it still could use the wings on the helmet though. Not sure if it's the "doughboy" version, or if it's the modern version. He might not even change costumes. On the whole, I think it looks very good.
  5. I have played and coached American Football, for nearly 20 years. That being said. The most violent sport I have ever seen is women's high school and college soccer. One of my good friends in high school fell trying to come up with a loose ball. she fell to the ground and they kicked her in the base of the skull on purpose. It gave her paralysis for 6 hours, until the the spinal tissue swelling stopped.
  6. I know it's a little more modern than what people are posting. This one, along with BATMAN The Animated Series, are my favorite, very simple but the Seatbelts song is awesome!
  7. Yes, Lost premieres tonight! Cannot wait!

  9. Yeah Metallica I've listen to since middle school! Many things in my life have changed, but I will defend my boys in black. You seem to have the same affinity for them as me Crim. I am positive you are going to enjoy the album, particularly if you maintain a positive attitude towards it. To me they are making a bold statement with this album, they know what brought them here, and they can still produce excellent sonic mayhem!
  10. I have been listening to it all day. Letting soak in all day, on the these sweet Skull Candy Metallica headphones, that came with a download of the album. I highly recommend picking them up. I must say I like Death Magnetic. Welcome back to Kirk Hammett's soaring solos and (thank god) a tight snare drum. It is an interesting mix of James Hetfield current bluesy singing and some much missing moments of true thrash mixed in with hard rock. True, it is not Ride or Master, but then again they are not that band anymore. You cannot expect a band to reproduce their hit albums again. I think Metallica has continued to grow musically they have not been afraid to show that they are master musicians, even if that means sometimes turning down the decibels. There are really really good moments of mayhem that harken back to before the Black Album. I could see how if the listener did not like the 90's Metallica they would not like parts of this album. I like the range that James displays with his voice, true the lyrics have become more simplistic, he is no longer the guy that felt he had to write Fade to Black. But, the new music shows that James still has old demons that he deals with through song. The bottom line its hard to complain about a great album, it can't be too bad when the worst complaint many people have had is that it's just not a epic as early albums from over 20 years ago. The band has changed since then and so have we. This album is better than most of the stuff on American Rock Radio. Its good to have the kings back. I cannot wait to see them add these songs to their classics and take Death Magnetic to the road.
  11. Happy anniversary! Crimson Fire!

  12. WOW! This could be great news! as long as they find a premise and story that works! See Arch, maybe your Ghostbuster groomsmen would work after all!
  13. Bug in mouth brings street out of reporter.
  14. I knew thunder was a joke, LOL I was actually thinking about what that album would be called. There are elements of St. Anger that are really strong, "Invisible Kid" is a good song. I kind of see St. Anger as a catharsis to work out the demons, this really makes sense if you see "Some Kind of Monster" excellent film about the inner struggles within the band. Its like a jamming therapy session. As far as great lyrics, yeah they are not "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)". Those days sadly are gone In the nineties songs like "Hero of the Day" and "Mama Said" had excellent lyrics. James is not the same guy he was in 1985, he does not relate to that person anymore. Their song structures have become very simple and straight-forward. Alot criticize how they changed in the 90's, at first it bothered me. Then I realized they had to evolve, if they didn't they would become relics. As much as I love Exodus and Slayer they are no longer on the musical map because did not try new avenues of music. When I saw them in concert on the "Load" tour I worried that they would not play the songs that made me a fanatic in the first place. Happily they proved me wrong. They will play those classics because they know that is what made them. These later albums are artistic expressions that evolve from elements of those early albums.
  15. I will check those out, I was referring to FM radio stations in the States, and yes it does tower all of the music played on FM radio stations in the States. This is the first song from Metallica that combines the introspective songs of the 90's, with the bone crunching of 80's Metallica. You must admit this one song is better that ALL of St. Anger.
  16. YES! 'TALLICA IS BACK! I like how the intensity builds as the song continues. Then it gets faster and faster! Yes, crunching guitars! fat fast riffs! banging drums! It sounds awesome! It's a very sad statement on the state of hard rock that Metallica return after a long hiatus and rules rock radio! It towers over every other current rock song. Step off the throne you rock n roll posers, THE KINGS ARE BACK! I CANNOT WAIT TO BUY THIS ALBUM!
  17. That is certainly true. Honestly Ziro the Hut was only one of many problems I had with the film. I might almost recommend people to see this car wreck view the car wreck, it is unintentionally hilarious. It certainly seems better suited to be a children's television show than a movie, the small screen hides the flaws better, but on the big screen the flaws are magnified.
  18. I never said he was a gay stereotype, all I said was that he was a horribly bad train wreck of a character, the article I linked says that he is a gay stereotype. I was simply offering another perspective on the character. If you read that article explicitly says that Lucas wanted this character to sound like Truman Capote, you cannot tell me that using such an iconic voice, is not going to lead several media outlets to the conclusion that the character plays to a stereotype, and personally, I believe filmmakers have the right to create any type of character they want, and viewers have the right to give whatever opinion they want. All I know is my 4 year old son asked if a character introduced as Jabba's uncle was actually Jabba's mama.
  19. For those of you who like to see what Ziro the Hutt looks like you can click here. And you can read an article about the director and Lucas' inspiration here
  20. Now that I am able to breathe... Here is my take. First off let me say, that I am a huge Star Wars fan, "The Empire Strikes Back" is my favorite movie of all time. That should help to put this in perspective. My 4 year old son enjoyed the movie immensely, which I must say brought some nostalgia back about seeing the first movies with my parents. But, sadly that is where the similarities end. This was a fun movie that I can take my son to, I enjoy mindlessly. That would be fine if this was "Shrek 3" but the problem is that is supposed to be a Star Wars movie. Now that I have had time to reflect on it. I now think it belongs with Star Wars projects along side "The Ewoks Adventure", "Droids", and "The Holiday Special". There are elements that remind you of Star Wars, but do not belong in the film catalog. It's almost like Lucasfilm was not sure where this movie belonged either. There are some things I liked, It was neat to see Asaj Ventress finally get on to the big screen, . Some of the action was good. There a great scene that shows why Obi Wan was called "The Negotiator". Anytime I can hear Christopher Lee on screen is good. The characters seemed like 3-D versions of the Gendy Taranoffsky's "Clone Wars" serials, which I think are brilliant and a lot fun. I liked Zero the Hutt for all the wrong reasons, this Truman Capote abomination is so horribly bad, though you cannot believe your eyes, and then you start thinking that Lucas has lost his mind, particularly when the movie director says that Lucas himself pushed for the characterization. I am not sure why they even made this movie. If the original "Clone Wars" had done such a good job of extending the mythos of the Clone Wars, right up until the beginning of "Revenge of the Sith". Why did they shoe horn this little episode into the story, It would have worked great as a kick off episode to the new Star Wars animated show for Cartoon Network. It shows characters we all know, and does NOTHING to invigorate or deepen these characters. Everytime it approaches the level of scraping to another surface the movie drops it or blows something up on screen. And they introduce new characters and do not explain where they were for Episode III, huh? Why do they keep rehashing the Clone Wars, they keep making heroes out of these soldiers that are going to become JEDI MURDERERS, Let me tell you this has already caused me a headache in trying to explain this to my son. Besides if we are going make cartoon movies of Star Wars, why not make movies that takes place after Episode VI like "Heir To The Empire", "Dark Empire", "The Courtship of Princess Leia". Or even "Shadows of the Empire" which takes place between episodes 5 & 6. Any of those stories will extend Star Wars in new exciting ways on screen. I always defended Episodes I,II, III I saw what Lucas was building in the first two episodes. Episode III is great. But, for the first time, I feel like this is Cash Grab. So if you want to see average computer animation and need a little diversion you might want to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but if you are expecting a deep engaging movie avoid this one.
  21. Happy Anniversary! (I am sorry it is so late). I have my hands full with ze bebe! I really appreciate that you take the time to always write personal messages. So again Happy Anniversary!

  22. The ending I thought was awesome! Just like what made that movie so good, it was unexpected. The movie stayed away from most of the traps of superhero movies. It sounds like the biggest problem you had was with the moral strength Batman exhibits. If you are not familiar with incarnations of the character currently in comics and graphic novels, Batman's morality is always being put to the test. Batman has no superpowers, what he has is an inner strength that sets him apart from his superhero counterparts. So, if you find that flimsy or unbelievable that Batman can be that rigid in his beliefs, then yeah you probably would'nt like it. But, I must tell you, I have seen it with Batfanatics and with novices alike, no one I know has even mentioned not liking that aspect of the movie. Sorry man, you are out on that limb all by yourself.
  23. Yeah, I miss Art School too, ah to have a week to finish a logo, that at the advertising firm I have to turn around in 2 hours! Oh well, anyway. That poster, is the best thing I have seen regarding the Spirit, which is sad.
  24. And now for your viewing pleasure The Dark Knight interrogation scene between the Joker and Batman. Well the same scene from another perspective...
