  1. Ok, I'll admit, Clocks was decent. MH, you've probably heard at least Run by Snow Patrol if you've listened to the radio at all in the last year. I like the song enough that I'll probably give the album a shot next time I see (steal) it. 'Specially if it's getting recommendations from the resta ya.
  2. That and I just don't know how to work the damn thing and don't necessarily care enough about it to learn...
  3. Amen to SOF and Junker. I've also been one of those who's always compared them to U2, but usually by saying they "sound like a cover band that does nothing but U2's mediocre songs". Very few Coldplay songs have ever done anything for me more than blah, and I really can't name a single one that I'd actually say I liked.
  4. Though I hafta say it seems a little like King Kong lives in Mordor, but other than that - wow. Props to Jackson for being smart enough to use all that cgi to heighten reality instead of trying to duplicate it.
  5. Strangely enough, 20th Century Fox didn't bother going after Disney for Sky High, yet another movie about a superhero school. The suit also fails to mention that the movie (now titled simply "Zoom") stars Tim Allen and Chevy Chase and seems about as different from the XMen movies as you can possibly get in the superhero drama (I'm picturing a superhero version of Galaxy Quest). That and you can't copyright an idea.
  6. That guy's a master at making vague statements about movies that really amount to absolutely nothing. I'm curious to see how exactly Namor could be compared to Jurassic Park. My vote's Jude Law as Namor, though.
  7. From IMDb: Now I can understand if they think the Rachel Dawes character has run it's course, that's probably true. But that last remark was just petty. Holmes did a fine job in the movie.
  8. Ho..ly...shit! That was the perfect Batman movie!
  9. Yeah that's the one. Second only to the Star Wars Holiday Special for its hilarity (Though at least the Holiday Special has the distinction of introducing the world to Darth Fett's avatar)
  10. Heh, no. I mean: by Charlie Higson. Just came out at the end of April. The book reviews aren't great, but it is meant for readers 10-15 or so, so what can you expect. The second book in the series is on its way.
  11. A series of books is being published now that follows the adventures of a teenage Bond, meant for teenage readers - no crazy spy stuff or stupid crossovers with characters from the movies, just plain old teenage adventure stuff (kinda like Young Indy, I guess). I'm fairly certain it was a movie-version of that that Bloom was being considered for, but that fell through anyway. Though there are talks of letting Martin Campbell restart the Bond series with a younger Bond - like Batman Begins or The Sum of All Fears did for their respectives series - Bloom has never been linked to that part. Owen has consistently denied ever being talked to about the role, but I wouldn't put it past them to go after him for it. As for McMahon, I've never heard anything official about him being considered, most of the rumors about him being on the list were started by him. He's made no secret of the fact that he badly wants the role and thinks he should get it. I personally, think he's wrong for it and would be better suited as a Bond villain (or, say, Dr Doom) but that's just me.
  12. Actually, I've heard Beast would be a full make-up effect with no CGI, and though they did find a way to do it, it was very expensive and they couldn't fit it into the budget for the first movie. The Blob was supposed to originally appear in the first film, too, but was cut out for the same reaons. But anyway, yeah, he's perfect.
  13. There's been a planned full-length Simpsons movie on the table for probably the better part of a decade now, but this is the first time it's been confirmed and given the greenlight. Let's just hope it doesn't spell the inevitable end of the series, like some tv-to-movies do (ala The X Files).
  14. Oh, but they should market it that way. Just for kicks.
  15. I have the worst - I mean the worst - luck when I play Monopoly. I'm the poor schmuck who pays to get out of jail only to go right back in before he can pass Go three times in a row! Nobody wants to play Pictionary with me anymore. Risk, however, I kick much ass at Risk. Put everyone on Papa New Guinea and just build up and build up... I'm gonna have to go with that one.
  16. Rush Hour 1 and 2, Red Dragon, After the Sunset. His directing is pretty tight, he's good with an ensemble cast, he knows how to shoot action and stunts. I think he's a more solid choice than Vaughn was. For some reason there's a real militant part of the movie-going public that thinks he's a hack. I really don't get it.
  17. I don't see why people are up in arms about Brett Ratner doing XMen. I think he'd do a fine job.
  18. I'm pretty sure the solo movie is planned to be a prequel about Weapon X, so they could still kill Wolverine off. Maybe they'll kill Storm at the beginning of the movie so they won't need to cater to Halle Berry anymore. As far as Moore movies go, From Hell is really the only good movie based on a Moore book, and ironically the only reason it was good was because it didn't stick to the material. The book had way too many layers and way too much exposition to make a faithful adaption and in that case the filmmakers knew what to get rid of and what to keep to make a concise story. Sure, it didn't have much of the brilliance of the book, but it could be appreciated on its own merits as a pretty good movie (unlike, oh say, LXG). I know I take potshots at the Wachowskis a lot on here, but come on. Based on their last few movies, I'd say editing long exposition into a tight and cohesive story is not really one of their strong points.
  19. From DarkHorizons: For directing, I'd vote for Bret Ratner. I think he'd be a pretty good choice. I wonder if those bits about the script are true? Arad has hinted that this script would really be controversial and that big stuff would happen, but would they really take a comic book movie and a money-making franchise that far?
  20. I really don't have high hopes for V. I think the Wachowskis have been going downhill since Bound. I don't like the idea of the charming and charismatic James Purefoy being replaced by the well-versed-in-Wachowski-speak Hugo Weaving (who is normally a great actor, I admit). And I honestly don't even think it's possible to adapt an Alan Moore book successfully into a two-hour movie.
  21. Oo, MH is adding categories - no fair.
