  1. I'm so jelly!!!!!!! That is awesome! <3

I know! me too! he just moved to LA and he saw him walking on sunset blvd.

I don't understand how an awful shows like Big bang Theory can flourish and yet the awesomeness of Community can be put on hiatus. Total sad face here.

    ^this times infinity.

  2. the multiverse episode was AMAZING! i heard whitney is also being moved to a new night (if true then yay!...it was ruining my thursday night show watching experience the same way family circus ruins sunday comics if you read them in order).

  3.

    Anyone watching this?

I was debating about starting an actual thread in the movie forum but I want to watch past the pilot first. So far, I've been thoroughly creeped out. It reminds me of a combination of Lynch/Amityville/and something else that I can't put my finger on this morning.

  4. i went in with my limited knowledge about the film, expecting to have felt like i just watched a snuff film but i ended up feeling like i was emotionally raped by a freight train. i felt dirty for weeks. surprisingly well-made though.

is their board comparable to the ridiculous mpaa though? i just want to get a sense of how fair-minded the bbfc is.

  5. it doesn't sound as bad as a serbian film. i think i have a pretty strong stomach but that movie was just completely physically sickening and nihilistic. it was the angriest movie i've ever seen. and that film was approved by the BBFC with around 4 minutes of cuts (i watched the uncut version). so i'm interested if there's more horrific shit in part 2 than what they described in their explanation or if it's that the scenes go on for so long that the movie would be 23 minutes long with cuts.

  6. I haven't seen the film yet, but every interview I've read, he really is that preoccupied with death, particularly his father.

One issue I have with his eternal life through download theory is that it's only eternal life as far as everyone else is concerned. As far as you're concerned, you're still dead.

If you perfectly upload my consciousness into a construct, to that new being it would indeed feel like it's me and all, but if it and me can theoretically exist simultaneously, I'm not really being transferred. I'm being copied. I'm still going to die.

Not that it wouldn't be potentially beneficial for humanity and all, but it doesn't solve the problem for anyone except for the people that don't want to let you go.

yeah, the logistics of it all don't seem realistic. aside from what you mentioned, it also sounded like it'd be a pretty boring "existance." it makes me really sad for him though because i really don't think he'll live long enough to see anything even remotely close to this become feasible. and this seems to be the giant thing he's decided to hang his hat on. he's like tesla and this is his pigeon.

  7. i saw that a little while back too. i like that they put his prediction of the singularity in the context of his fear of death and missing his father. his prediction is like a giant projection of his psyche. very interesting. i wonder if it was just edited that way or if he's really that preoccupied with death. his pill regimen alone is incredible.

  8. i agree with the hobo love.

panch, have you seen moon? i'm really loving duncan jones' stuff (who happens to have the coolest father ever).

the signal. i enjoyed it, especially the 2nd part. it reminded me of the cell by stephen king (which i haven't finished reading).
