So, I binged this the other morning, not realizing that there were only four thirty minute episodes. Just as I was really, really getting into it, it ended. WHA?? Suffice to say, I don't have the same nostalgia for the series as some other folks on here, but I do have a pretty keen appreciation for storytelling, I think. And this was good. The animation style is anime all the way, but the dialog is solid, with only a few clumsy moments. I'm not sure it it sticks to the story as defined by the games or not. The plot in the show is straight forward and really takes a backseat to the dialog and the characters. So, I highly recommend watching it

I'm a few episodes behind. The last one I watched was when Sweeney attempted to steal the cab. The episode before that is when I just rubbed my face repeatedly with my hands. I'm going to watch the whole of the season but I'm sore pressed to enjoy it. I mean, I know adaptations of print are different, but this one has just zoomed off into outer space

This show has completely gone off it's novel rails. I don't really know what to think anymore. I'm sorely tempted to just throw my hands up in the air and say fuck it but I'm sticking with it because someone keeps needling me to do so and he's got such a purty mouth.

. Solid film otherwise. BUT, for all the woman-empowering BS they've been touting, I am disappointed.

Shadow isn't supposed to be interesting. That's the thing. You are correct in your summarization of the novel. That being said, the novel is also about Shadow growing as a nothing into a something. There are glimpses of his personality, but yes, he is a bit of a nothing. Though, that seems pretty typical of Gaiman's writing style. I've read most of his adult novels and the main character's are generally lost boy types that find themselves. This Shadow, TV Shadow, actually has a bit more personality. Not much. In comparison to novel Shadow he aggravates. On his own, he's fine. So yeah, I would recommend judging the book and the series on their own merits. I was expecting Mr. Nancy to be more jovial. And I think Orlando Jones would have done that perfectly. But this more intense version? I'm cool with that. It made my blood pound. I want to see more of him. Of all of them actually. It's really well done. I fucking love Mad Sweeney in this. I enjoyed is parts in the novel but his expanded role is just great. I think it's because I love the hell out of his actor and the haircut is the cherry on top of it. He's an Irish hooligan, a hard man. Gives me the giggles. I have one major gripe though: Why is it that every person with a skin tone darker than milk looks like they are sweating bullets?

I have read the book so many times I can paraphrase the only thing, I can say, so far, the series is faithful. Shadow is less of a cipher with more personality. Some of it fits, some doesnt, in my opinion. Of course, I'm a purist and didn't see any need to change...with that being said, the series is good in its own right. Really good. Though, I find the backstory from episode four to be unnecessary as well as some of the coming to America bits.

I like Bill Nye. I like science. I like liberalism. I didn't like this show. Ok, I half liked it. I learned some things, which I enjoy. Some of the humor was great. I enjoy snark. But I think the overall tone of this show is downright mean, defensive, and far too angry and in your face. Those things don't appeal to me. I'll watch more of it, of course, but there will be a constant litany in my head questioning why he has to be so obnoxious.

Mmm, there's a flavor to certain spicy things that's incomparable. But yeah, if you're sensitive to spice, you wouldn't notice that. I mean, pickled jalapenos aren't typically too spicy. And bell peppers? Pffffttt. But there is a point where the spice overrides the flavor even for those of us that enjoy spice. Ryan's tolerance is far higher than mine. Habanero is about as much as I can handle. You know, a lot of the times, it's the seeds and the membranes with the largest amount of the chemical. Can you even eat Taco Bell? I don't find their stuff spicy, but sometimes I notice my nose runs which tells me there's some kind of pepper in their food.

See, I feel that this film had the tighter plot. It was straightforward and simplistic, which I appreciated. Too many movies today have convoluted, ridiculous plots that just piss me off. I don't go in for such busyness. Just give me a linear story and I'm happy. Though, I agree with Donatella, it did take a bit there in the beginning to get where it was going. Overall, I enjoyed the hell out of it. The opening scene was pure fucking magic, the humor was sharp, and the emotional bits well placed. Actually, the more I contemplate it, the more I like it.

I find it to be so. It seems...relevant. Though, I'm not gonna lie, I watched the first four in the middle of the night while feeding a newborn, so might be my hormones were a bit whacked.

I read an article, sadly can't recall where, about Netflix putting a disclaimer before the episodes on how to get help and warning about the content specifically to avoid this situation. Sadly, I'm not surprised though. Many were concerned that the series would be seen as glamorizing suicide. I don't think it does, personally. What I think it does it showcase how awful teens can be to one another, even if I did find it a bit too much.

Watch it. And read it. It hurts.

Struck me as a little too angsty and a little too over the top to be believable. Almost as if they felt that they had to heap it on to make the suicide 'worthwhile'. And it's confusing. Sometimes it's difficult to tell what's current and what's flashback

<shrug> Even if they don't, I can still get a good sandwich. It's not like the trip would be entirely wasted. I should prolly go eat something cause I'm just tormenting myself with that photo. And I fell into a wikipedia rabbit hole which led me to black forest cake. Sigh.

Speaking as someone that is on a low-carb diet for blood sugar reasons, that looks like heaven to me. Ryan, buckle up. We're going to Osceola.

Matchstick fries FTW. Though, I know that I prefer my fries crispier than some people.

Viewed through the lens of a pre-teen, it was great. I don't know how it would hold up now that I can pass as an adult.
