    Finished Season One last night, started "aquiring" Season Two last night as well. I can't say for sure, but I think that Lou is my favorite character of the first season.

     

    (And his very first scene in the second season only supports that. :blink:)

    My Xbox runs Nintendo, Gameboy/GB color/GBA, SNES, (some) N64, and Sega games. The controls are a little funny for Sega and N64, but definitely playable. That said... I love waking up on a lazy Saturday morning and breaking my fast with some old school gaming. Last night, I got bored of playing the Punisher... and switched to Super Mario RPG. The Secret of the Seven Stars? It's good times, man.

    Hah...cool, glad to see some interest!

     

    Well, DG, i got episodes 1-10 on a DVD (can you read that?), the last 3 on my drive, just debating if i should make em 3 seperate discs or just one more dvd, might do the later.  Lemme know what format you can go for, and the menu thing sounds like itd be cool...i really wish FX would announce a season 1 set soon tho.

     

    Man, it gets crazy after that fight, too!

     

    I can read DVDs, just can't write them.

     

    I can make the menus, but either torrent the results or put them one to a CD.

     

    How can I get these from you?

    Holy shit, the season finale was...really somethin'.

     

    Ok, so i think its 13 episodes for the season, cant wait for the DVD (much less next season, kinda left me hangin here)....again, ive got the first 10 on a dvd disc, the other 3 on my drive, gonna try to toss em on disc soon...anyone who's up for this, lemme know, i really love this show, but man, this last episode put me through the wringer. :D

    PLEASE tell me you can burn me a disc of this! I managed to find 1-5 on torrents... but now I'm stuck and can't find anything else before seven. Tommy was getting his ass kicked by a bunch of accountants, last I saw, and I need to know what happens next, man!

     

    Damn if this ain't like crack.

     

    And I'll tell ya what... I've got iMovie and Toast on my computer... I'll see what I can do about making a proper VCD for each episode with a menu and chapters and stuff. Just help a brotha out here!

    In case none of you knew... Superman was one of my big personal heroes. I can pay talk all I want about my love for the anti-heroes, the Resevoir Dogs and Boondock Saints and Frank Castles of stage, screen, and comic; but there is a big part of me that is still six years old, crosslegged in front of the TV and watching wide-eyed the man in the blue and red suit doing right. Not avenging, not following orders, not driven by guilt... doing right. In a time when it's hard to find associations that make me proud to be American, Superman was... always there.

     

    And in my mind, from then till now, the images are the same. Truth, Justice, and the American Way = Superman. Superman = Christopher Reeve. I don't know if playing such an iconic hero on the silver screen helped to make him the hero he himself would become, though I have a nagging feeling it was the other way around. I can't imagine, begin to fathom, how hard it must be to fall from a horse and land so much futher down than just the ground, to not be able to hold your wife's hand and tell her that you'll be all right, to see your children terrified and wondering what's wrong with Daddy. The progress he made was astounding, and for that alone would have earned my respect. The amazing strength of character in EVERY appearance, EVERY statement, EVERY donation and appeal and personal sacrifice to help those in his position in the future, is why I cried when I heard this.

     

    I... I don't know what else to say.

    In Cars

    Ok. I'm the first to admit that I don't know all that much about cars. This is mainly because until about 8 months ago, I never owned one.

     

    There's no shame in souping up a car. If you're going to do it, you SHOULD research the effects it'll have on your car. (Especially killing your engine life and gas mileage...)

     

    Personally, I hate driving a car that doesn't have any... well... a car without any balls. While I was trying to get a new car, I was borrowing a 87 Caddy with a BADLY tuned V-8 and 103,000 miles. Couldn't stand it.

     

    But what a lot of people don't pay attention to is that racing has a lot to do with your car. No one won a race with a go-kart. The rest of it is being willing to really drive what you have, though. When I've raced, it's been a late-night, spur of the moment thing. And I'm racing for the fun of it. The speed... the competition... hell, I know it ain't Nascar, but it's fun anyway. And people riding with me were suprised when I'd WIN. (With the 92 Ford Tempo, mind you.) Most of the cars could've easily blown me off the road, had they been willing to drive their cars. Most of 'em were fucked off the line, 'cuz they tried to floor it and ended up spinning their tires.

     

    I'm not a big fan of Mustangs.. not new ones, anyway. From what I've seen, the last few year's models won't hit their stride 'til they hit 40 or 50 mph.

    Gangs Of New York

    Ain't no FUCKIN' Romantic comedy!

     

    Ain't crap!

     

    I was a funny as hell movie! If it wasn't rated PG13 there might have been boobs in it. :(

     

    But anyways this movie was a good movie I though it would be 10x better then "Gangs of New York" but I was wrong...

    Sorry... the Thinking Man couldn't make it. I'm filling in.

     

    Besides the poncy, and the pretentious, and the titular character, this was a good story. Granted, I only read the first book.

     

     

    But there are a couple things that really bug me:

     

     

    -The titular character, Sandman, (or Morpheus, or Dream, or a few other names), isn't approachable. The reader doesn't have any grounds to relate to him on. He's a god, immortal and nearly all powerful within his realm of influence, so we can't relate to his sense of vulnerability once he's gotten his powers back. He has no sense of humor, nor any real recognizable human emotions with the exception of revenge and angst. Not even existential angst... "I'm bored of being a superpowerful being" angst. In the first book, Preludes and Nocturnes, I find myself identifying more with the "antagonists". Sure, they're patently insane and bent on destroying the world... but at least I can understand their motives.

     

     

    -Just about all the other characters in the book lent themselves to sympathy better. Even Death, another of the Endless... I read her little story and thought, "Wow... now I understand what all those goth girls I knew were trying to do. She just does it better." (And the gargoyle was kyoot! Not intellectual at all, but it bears mention.)

     

     

    -While I'm willing to allow some artistic license, some of the mythological and religious misreferences irked me. Cain and Abel refer to themselves as characters of "the first story". There were a few chapters of Genesis, a fall or two from grace, and the creation of a world before you, guys. Sorry to tell ya.

     

     

     

    There's more, but I think that should get a conversation rolling. Don't get me wrong... I'm currently reading Good Omens, so I don't doubt that Gaiman can write, and well at that. I'll definately be picking up American Gods when I'm finished with this one. I just didn't see too much development in this comic, and I doubt I'll be picking it up again unless someone can assure me these issues were just the victim of growing pains.
